Although all of their items are predictably priced - in that I mean that they are rather expensive gifts considering that they mostly fall into a rather useless category - they do have quite a few reductions and offers which may make it rather more worth paying them a visit. The few jewellery items that caught my eye are a little cheaper than their neighbours' too, but for that I must say I thought that the quality reflected that - the items just weren't quite as special. All in all, good for a gander, but not necessarily much else.

Despite this there was a 'needs must' situation whereby my boyfriend and I had just purchased a new king sized bed, as a result of this lots of new linen was required. Gah. It's not the most fun to find a bed for a bargain and then have to spend more on the sheets! But, with the wonderful help from the ladies in Yorkshire Linen I was not going to leave disappointed. I told her the things that we needed and the styles that I like and the budget. It was pretty much, from there, job done! She knew the store back to front and so took me straight over to a lovely inoffensive cream embroidered sheet, duvet cover and pillow cases. Perfect. Curtains we found a mili second later, some gorgeous brown flower printed velvet effect full length curtains. Beautiful. And finally, to match in with my duvet cover from home, the curtains and carpet, (yes, I gave in to it) we got some lovely brown and purple cushions - you know, to tie it all together... I mean, even though I didn't need the cushions, they do look pretty smart. Best of all the trip cost about two thirds of what it should have, she helped me to pick the sale items, and for the pain relief of the visit having only taken about 15 minutes or so, I was delighted. Perfect service, good prices and lovely stock. What more could you want?

(They might as well jump on the Christmas flogging wagon along with what seems like every other store in the world as soon as Halloween has passed) From the outside I thought it looked a bit tacky and naff (which most of it's stock was) but then I discovered the duvets. They had one of their discount duvets hanging outside its packaging for you to touch and wow at the softness of its pearly white skin. I touched. It was immense. I wanted to curl up inside the box along with all the other duvets and sleep like a baby. I had succumb to their 'interactive' marketing ploy. "I don't need a duvet!" I thought whilst obliviously reaching for my wallet in a trance....luckily I had no money. The manufacturer upheld the complaint and credited 2 replacment worktops and funds for refit costs. It took months to get the 2nd worktop and i had to pay for the refit even though budget recieved the money from the manufacturers. Im having to take them to smalls claims court to get a resolve. Keep away from them if you want good service!

The level of service we have received from start to finish has been exceptional. Communication was excellent regarding the initial measuring up, to the design, to visiting the showroom to finalise plans and book in the job, to daily updates on progress and plans for the next day and being available whenever required to help accommodate changes. The guys even gave up their Saturdays and worked into the evenings some days to make sure that progress stayed on track. The entire HHI team have been hard working, polite, trustworthy, punctual, reliable, understanding, and accommodating to last minute changes. They really couldn't have done more for us and nothing was too much trouble. The selection of products and services available is vast and the level of expertise you receive is high. Every small detail has been considered and it's clear to see that the team take pride in what they do, they are all perfectionists with a passion for their trades. The quality and standard of finish is second to none and we really could not be happier with our new bedroom, en-suite bathroom and storage rooms. At dream bathrooms they have loads of different designs of baths, sinks, showers, heating appliances, taps, towel rails and toilets. Contemporary or traditional, all very shiney and posh (I think I would go for a sparkly white oval bath and some little silver soap dishes...sigh). The price is actually ridiculously high in my opinion though, with a simple circular towel rail bringing you back over £65 and some of the baths over £2000. The quality is pretty dam good though so it's dependent on your budget and how much you are willing to shell out. If you are doing up your current house or looking for bathroom bits to accommodate your new abode then give them a shout, they'd be happy to help. Just don't get carried away or you wont have any money left for food and heating!

It reminds me of childhood trips to…read moreB&Q when my sister and I would play hide and seek in the display kitchens and get excited by the shiny gold taps and large corner baths in the bathroom show room. So my recent perusal of the show room at Dream Baths was a tad nostalgic. Similar to Alexandra I have yet to own my own house and indeed long for the day when I can paint the walls any damn colour I choose and, erm...screw monkey bars into the ceiling and make one room into a ball pond! Again...I can Dream! So the notion of getting a new bathroom fitted doesn't feel particularly relevant to my current life and to be honest I'm a bit of a make do and mend type and can't imagine stripping out an entire bathroom only to buy a brand new one for thousands of pounds, but at the same time I fully understand the urge to match your home to your personal taste. The bathrooms here are top quality with many different styles from reasonably standard designs to quite unusual and stylish. The more interesting designs appear to have an 'interesting' price tag to match so are maybe best avoided if you're on a tight budget. If you're looking for a new bathroom though, you could certainly do worse than popping down to Dream Bathrooms!

J.J.'s Junction's wares spill out onto the pavement - plastic chairs, bins, buckets, baby baths,…read morelaundry baskets, and my absolute favourite: rolls of plastic table cloth material with a variety of brilliant designs including shiny gold or silver floral, a coral reef, pasta and some very pretty vintage-style lace patterns...Amazing! If I'd had any money on me I shudder to think how much of this tacky/kitsch gloriousness I would've bought I must say I simply can't imagine how they manage to get all that stuff inside every evening! Inside the shop is full to the brim with such a mad range of bits and bobs it's pretty hard to pin it down. There's loads of crockery, some of which I rather love decorated with cutesy floral patterns and just about every little useful item you could have in your house! One thing that stood out for me was an absolutely GIANT charming retro-look thermos flask. I wanted it but couldn't think what for. It would probably hold a good few gallons! How very odd! Along with supplying all the bits of homely stuff you never knew you needed but probably do, they also do a key cutting service. Yay!

This shop always used to grab my attention whenever I walked past due to its endearing 'Walk In'…read moresign posted above the doorway, as if the owner lived in perpetual fear that someone might one day confuse his shop for a drive-in DIY store. As far as I know, that hasn't happened yet, but it did mean that this establishment was the first to spring to my mind when I found myself in need of somewhere nearby to purchase a padlock, so perhaps it wasn't an entirely wasted effort. One of those stores that sells just about everything you need and a lot of stuff you don't, JJ's is cheap, cheerful and exactly what you want from such an establishment. While I went in for a padlock, the bright displays and cheap prices meant I very nearly came out with a box of fireworks and children's paddling pool too, so try and stick to your guns unless you want a house full of tat. The staff are pretty helpful too, although it might take a while to catch their eye - the place was heaving when I visited, and it was only a Wednesday morning.
