But the café on one corner offers several vegetarian choices in their sandwiches, and they had a superb beet soup, not just a borscht but unique in my experience. I was a fan of Bit's brioche until today. A good brioche is made with plenty of eggs and butter…read more Bit's original brioche had this, which resulted in a soft, moist, buttery pastry. This gives the brioche its characteristic yellow color. It was perfect the way it was and is very close in texture to my own brioche. So today, as I was catching my train from Oslo Sentralstasjon, I decided to stop by and feed my brioche cravings. Much to my surprise, the brioche I remembered only from a couple of months ago was not the same. Instead the brioche tasted like a normal "skoleboller." The brioche was like bread being a bit dry and lacking in egg and butter. It was also very apparent after biting into the brioche and having to chew a number of times, unlike before the brioche would melt in your mouth. The custard was fine, but the soul of the brioche comes from the eggs and butter. Why ruin a good thing? Something that irritates me is when quality is not consistent. Today's brioche was an absolute dissapointment. Cutting corners to save money and resulting in a half-ass product is never a wise business decision.

They also have baguettes, and different kind of sandwiches and you can self decide what vegetables and dressings you want. I always go for a Chicken salad with aioli and pesto. In the price of 117 kr it includes a slice of bread. It is really expensive and the staff are quite ungenerous with the amount of food. If I want some cucumber it isn't surprising to just get 3 or 4 slices, and especially with the chicken and bulgur (just a couple tablespoons) So it's a bit irritating constantly asking for a bit more. If I pay 117 kr i really want to get my plate full. It's better to have the salad to go (you get a bit more), then staying in. But nevertheless, a delicious healthy place that I recommend. + Their small brownies are delicious! Don't miss out on that, only 5kr á piece.

The bread here is absolutely fresh and delicious- we're huge bread lovers and this place definitely piqued our interest! This was our go-to quick bit to eat for breakfast prior to heading out again and the fresh sandwiches that they make really hit the spot! They also sell whole loaves a breads too which we bought and enjoyed with Nutella during our drives. Cost: Definitely on the more expensive end- breakfast here for us was averaging to $40 every morning but my reference is off. In Norway, that seemed to be the average breakfast cost wherever we went (even a little more expensive). Environment: Very cute establishment- its like a cafe vibe with ample seating, coffee, sandwiches and dessert breads for the end. Service: Very quick- no wait and easy to-go choice for breakfast! Uniqueness: When I think of this chain, my mind always jumps to the wall full of different loaves of breads! Absolutely unique and definitely a place to check out if you're traveling in Norway.

It was busy with lots of Norwegian speakers and what looked like people grabbing breakfast before work. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside, which is always a plus. I didn't try the coffee since I had already had some, but there was a good selection of pastries along with larger dishes on the menu. Since I was new to Oslo, I wanted to try a local pastry, so I went with the raisin roll (around $5). The roll was pretty good--nicely baked and, while not warm, it still tasted fresh. It had been a while since I'd had a raisin let along a raisin pastry, and I was pleasantly surprised. The raisins added just enough sweetness and flavor without taking over. Overall, a solid spot for a quick bite, especially if you're exploring the MUNCH Museum or Opera House. The local crowd, outdoor seating, and convenient location make it a nice Oslo stop.
