I just recently returned to using CPA4IT after a number of years away from Toronto. In 2011, they were known as Wall and Associates. George Wall has retired and the firm is run by his son Andrew. CPA4IT is essentially an "online" firm. Seems that all data entry is done offshore and the account managers do the reviews. My accounting is relatively simple. I'm retired now so there are essentially no transactions. Still, my accounting took almost 6 months to complete. Filing with CRA was only one day before the deadline. That was frustrating and nerve wracking. It's the first time my return has been that late. Don't want to see that again. Having said that, the accounting itself was satisfactory. I appreciate the aggressive position that the firm takes to minimize taxes owing. Others have commented that CPA4IT costs too much for what they do. Perhaps, or perhaps not. Since I just returned to them from a different accounting firm, this year was exceptional. I'll find out over the next year or so. read more

I've been a customer of ca4it for 10+ and over those years I've seen their prices for preparing a corporate return keep climbing while the level of service keeps getting worse. I can't offer any explanation for the high fees they charge for preparing a simple corporate return. To me it seem like they burn a lot of hours for what essentially amounts to data entry by reentering your submitted expense data into their internal systems. No matter how I submit my year end data, it always seems to end up costing a ton. Meanwhile from my friends I hear of their accountants taking boxes of receipts from them, asking them a few questions, then organizing everything and filing their return for 1/4 the price I pay to ca4it. When I started dealing with them many years ago the prices were on the high end of reasonable, but I had a good working relationship with my assigned accountant. In those days she could prepare a corporate return for me in a month. Now it takes much longer than that, and they even made me late one year and I had a payable so ended up paying penalties. I think if you asked them they would say that their high end prices are justified because of their value added services. Perhaps some customers find those services valuable but I unfortunately don't. What I would find valuable would be for them to offer a low cost package for a simple corporate return that is more in line with what other accountants are charging. I think CA4IT have to seriously reconsider how they are running their business to stay competitive. read more

George and Andrew have always addressed my questions and concerns and have been very supportive. I highly recommend them for any corporation, however their exposure and experience with professional consulting corporations is superb. I consider them the best of the best! Started using CPA4IT Fall of 2019. First year was fantastic, made incorporating easy and completing first corporate year-end. Love they use some great tools in accounting for clients to use(QuickBooks,DEXT,Liscio) that save time. The regular information sessions are very helpful to ramp up your accounting/corporate knowledge and to review. CPA4IT do provide many other sessions for you to use beyond accounting stuff also. Preparing the corporate year end taxes seems painful, in particular the last two years. I try to provide all info needed for it. When a question comes to me after submitting my year-end package, I respond right away and wait many days(weeks) for reply. I realize they move onto next client. Feels like they have grown fast and trying to catch up. However, most importantly, I do have my call with Account Manager reviewing the year-end in time to avoid any late filing penalties. Account Manager has proved to be very knowledgeable and helpful, even throughout the year with different questions. The Client's CheckList is awesome, simple and shows who and when to pay for the year. read more

Where to begin. Fees including book keeping increased 100% over 2 years after engaging this company. The last straw was for work to get some late returns filed. In the past CA4IT took no more than 2 months to prepare and file and had they done so, I would be up to date. But this time it took them 10 months putting me into an expensive domino effect with CRA. Not only that they withheld the filing because they wanted 50% more when they were done! I had to prove to them their initial quote and and that I paid the full amount BEFORE they started. Of course they had to concede they made a mistake but they held my filing hostage based on their error. I fired them. And now I am working happily with a freelance accountant that is charging me 1/4 for the same amount of annual work, with a 2-3 week turnaround! You can fall for their claims of value-added services but in the end these have little to no value - do your own research, compare against some freelancers and seriously question the value of the add-ons. Good luck. UPDATE: Since I have found an accountant that charges me 1/10 (literally) of what CA4IT was charging me and so far after 3 corporate and 2 personal returns he's been great! Honestly - you do not need CA4IT - spend time to find an independent accountant (freelance). It's not rocket science and my new accountant will file within about 4 weeks of starting a new return. CA4IT makes things much more complicated and INCREDIBLY more expensive. You are just wasting your money with them. read more

I would have thought a receptionist at an accounting firm will know better about the business. I now contact the accountants direclty. Saving me time, energy and less headache to deal with. read more
