For sure Palm Springs or Coachella valley has had its ups and downs with theater venues focused on…read morespecific demographic and wallet size. Follow the money I get it. But Plaza Theater is so refreshing, we've attended 5 events here and all have been great. Play, concerts, and things like Better Late which was a fund raiser for the treater. SHORT ANSWER: Yes, don't over think it, find an event and go for it. LOCATION: New location of a historic theater, so beautiful and well managed, everyone is welcomed as well as casual desert dress attire seems to be the code of dress. FACILITY: Reclaimed and feels historic, easy to park, have dinner before or after the show. LIBATIONS: beverages are available on site and at drinkable at your seat, cost is what costs are, this is for the betterment of the Theater so appreciate the high costs are going to the Theater not some out of control philanthropic organization that does not need any more money. STAFF: As far as I know, all volunteer and all very nice. Getting in is a phone thing showing your tickets, I figured it out so it is not too hard. I am sure you can kill a tree and print your ticket as well. OVERALL VALUE: Events are kind of expensive but worth it... TIP: Depending on time of year, dining before and event can be quiet and enjoyable. Dining after you may find a lot of partying over served people having too much fun, but that is okay just not my thing.

It was all I could do to exit the dance floor, and I could barely walk the next day. Imagine my dismay when I found out there was no elevator to get up to my balcony seats. The gentleman who collected our tickets offered us padded folding chairs at the back of orchestra level, which I was more than grateful for. About 10 minutes later one of the docents came to us and had aisle seats 10 rows back, as someone had to cancel. I was flabbergasted and extremely grateful. The way that they accommodated my spouse and I and made our one year anniversary celebration an enjoyable experience in spite of my pain, will never be forgotten.

This theatre is an absolute jewel. A family-run non-profit favorite!…read more They are approaching their 30th year of providing some of the best live theatre in the Valley. They have a polite and professional staff - but one of my favorite aspects is their welcoming volunteers and the mostly volunteer performers who donate so many hours to their art. Bravo! The venue's life began as one of Palm Springs' first school gymnasiums, so it's a bit dated, but in a good way. It's an intimate space with the first row starting immediately at the stage. It has a nostalgic and friendly feel. The steps to the seating are a bit steep, so if guests need a little more physical consideration - try to let the box office know, and they'll graciously try and accomodate them. They have a small but adequate concession area with fair prices. The adjacent parking lot fills up fast, but there's another lot a short block away. There are a host of small eateries nearby, so consider going early to get the best parking and enjoy a full evening of good food and great entertainment. Roger Medanich

The stage is always so decorated amazingly to what's needed for any show, showing here. The volunteers and staff here go above and beyond, allowing you to enjoy the ambience of a small stage theater. They have drinks and cookies available as well. Which are a nice little addition during the intermission. We have another small theater near us, which is good as well. But not as good as this theater. We enjoy coming here and we will be back many many more times

I will say its located on a sizeable shopping lot. While there are adjoining shops, we found parking quickly. Just be prepared to walk a bit. Entering, the staff was still super friendly and had someone providing drinks to latecomers. Takes a few minutes to adjust to the dim lighting so aim to get there early. We found seats on the third to last row. Not the best view but thats a consequence of our own tardiness. For the best view, I'd recommend the raised table seats or getting seats at the front. We were given 4 drinks, in between the four performances. It did feel odd to have drinks handed to the edges of the aisle and passed over from person to person. Same with the cups that were now trash. Had to pass it over to hand it to staff. The staff did a fabulous job performing poe's stories, nailing the dramatic and intense melancholy one feels reading his pieces. And the drinks were passed out swiftly, with descriptions of what they entailed. We did note that the mixing wasnt consistent. Id have to switch with my partner's drink when it tasted too strong. And we werent given anything to stir it with. Also feel this would have been a more intimate experience if the seating consisted of mini tables with chairs or maybe if there was an aisle in the center so its not awkward passing items. But that would entail restructuring those theater seats. Overall, it was a great demonstration of the arts. Amazing job by all the performers! P.s. The bathrooms were also pretty clean and well-stocked, and this was even after the end of the show.
