Bomb chilaquiles! Sorry half eaten!
Andrea T.

We had this most incredible experience at Ventana Wind Sports hotel and ate at Coya's each day since our breakfast and lunch were included. I was a little nervous about eating there since free food is usually not the best food, but were were pleasantly surprised when the the food was delicious! We'd start every morning with a fresh pressed green juice and coffee. They have both Mexican and US dishes and some of the things we tried were the chilaquiles, burritos, enchiladas and shrimp caesar. The breakfast chilaquiles were amazing, better than most restaurants in town and has a lot of cheese. The seafood dishes were all fresh and really good. Our friends had the ceviche and French toast and reported they were really good too. The staff and are so kind and helpful and they will even pack your lunch if you want to take it to go. Also their cocktails like the mojito and Pina colada are really yummy. My favorite thing that I ordered three times was the flan! It was creamy and thick and some of the best flan I've had. If you need a quick and nourishing meal for your day of kiting, this is a great spot.

So delicious, recently has been moved into a beach bar at Aqua Ventana. I love the taco bowl and the shrimp tacos!

Had dinner here 1 night on location, servers nice and food was good, had the blue marlin combo…read moreplatter of shrimp(great), nachos (huge portion and delicious) and the green chicken enchiladas (excellent).. unfortunately it was extremely hard to enjoy our meal as there were literally hundreds of flies surrounding our table alone.. and more at other tables. They need some fans or fly traps. The waitress did try to light some candle thing to help which was a very nice gesture. Enchiladas were our favorite. Ordered them to-go a couple other nights and would definitely return/ order food to-go again anytime we are in the area

For some examples, there was a table of people chain smoking right next to us (despite the No Smoking sign!), at one point the bartender cranked up the music to a club-like volume, the swim-up bar was drained so the pool was sadly half empty, and there are floor fans blasting you in the face at top speed, presumably to deal with the flies and mosquitos mentioned in so many reviews. I would suggest to the owners that they edit the menu down to fewer things that they can execute very well, and get rid of all the Cabo Wabo-ish elements that feel really tacky and out of place in this charming beach village.

Just returned home from a fantastic stay at Palapas Ventana with our family. The property is…read morelovely, rustic but beautifully maintained. Our casita was perfect for our family of 4. Loved the big porch with the rocking chairs and hammock. The housekeepers did a wonderful job of tidying up each morning. Our bed was so comfortable, too. Our room had everything we could need: filtered drinking water, shampoo and body wash, reading lights at every bed, and beach towels. We shared in some unforgettable experiences: snorkeling with puffer fish, boating alongside gray whales, and digging for shark teeth. The staff were always friendly and accommodating. The food was unbeatable. Fresh yellow tail, fluffy pancakes, and fajitas. I highly recommend Palapas Ventana for anyone who likes adventure and is looking to experience the local culture. Well done!!

The good: We were looking for a no wind day activity at the last minute. I called around 3pm for…read morea next day booking for Scuba Diving. The office person said she would call me back to check to see if they could accommodate. Within the hour she called back and advised us there was room, we just needed to come by the office and take care of payment. We were stoked and happy to come down and pay. While I was there I asked her how many dives, she said she didn't know, but that was okay, I was just assuming it was the standard 2 dives. She advised us that it included lunch and I told her not to worry about me because I am dairy and gluten-free, she said she would let the kitchen know and that they could probably accommodate. I wasn't really concerned about lunch because I usually carry my own food. The next day we met with our guide and boat captain, both were super nice. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We headed around the lighthouse, but visibility was poor so they took us across to the island where we dived with the sea lions and then we moved to the kiters beach on the island where we dived in shallow water. For the most part, we didn't really need to scuba, snorkeling would have been just as good. There wasn't really any benefit as far as seeing sea life. After both dives they gave us lunch on the way back, much to my surprise, they actually provided me a lunch that was both dairy and gluten-free, I was pretty impressed. The not so good: The wetsuits had holes and smelled really bad. I am not sure they had been cleaned. The air in the tanks smelled and tasted horrible. I don't know if it was mold or rust, but it was really bad. The worst part of the trip is that the guide allowed two people on our trip to freely smoke cigarettes non-stop on the boat ride and they were sitting upwind of everyone, ugh!!!! Tip: If you decide to dive with this company, please tip your guide, they are not paid in wages and only live off of the tips!!!
