Stop your search and just book the tour with Jean Pierre now! Do not miss out on an amazing and…read morememorable experience in Bordeaux by booking with someone else. Jean Pierre is meticulous in planning out his tours, he takes into account what you want to see, which Châteaux you want to visit , etc. He really loves what he does and it shows in his tours. Experience start to finish; - emailed request and received a response very quickly - Jean Pierre asked a few questions about the group, size, our wine knowledge (we are novice wine drinkers), requests on Châteaux we wanted to visit ... then he got working on the itinerary and making appointments for the Châteaux visits. - Jean Pierre confirms pickup location and itinerary (picked us up from our Airbnb!) - follow up communications confirming pickup points etc (he is very clear in all communication) .. we were a group of 4 and it ended up being just us that day! I believe his car fits up to six people. - then a day touring and enjoying wine: our day started at Château du Tailhas Pomerol, then scenic drive around Pomerol and St. Emilion, lunch/ explore St. Emilion, Château Dominique and then Château Canon La Gaffeliere. (Jean Pierre made sure to give us different types of chateaux to visit, from small family owned to larger more industrialized ones) We learned so much from Jean Pierre, from now knowing that different regions in Bordeaux produce different blends of wine to how the terroir affects the taste of the wines. I'm already looking at my calendar for 2017 to see when I can get back to Bordeaux and do another tour.. perhaps multiple day tours with Jean Pierre!

Chateau Tailhas was a pure joy with an intimate tasting with the three of us including the ever amazing multi-tasker owner/wine maker/guide, Luc! He greeted us warmly and took us around the vineyard, VAT room, Cellar, and finally the Tasting room. Chateau Tailhas is a family owned vineyard and they do everything by hand. It's quite AMAZING and very traditional. Luc now makes the final decision with the help of his father on when to harvest the wine by simply picking the grapes and tasting it. No chemist or engineer, pure intuition! I love the passion and pride of the Chateau Tailhas and their 2009 Merlot was fantastic; gentle, round, and soft; a great representation of their Terroir. Thanks Luc for this wonderful, unforgetable tasting experience! *4 Euros/tasting *Free Tasting w/ Purchase *35 euros for 2009 Vintage

Lovely family owned Chateau. Stop #1 on my winery tour that was set up through Jean Pierre Lafitte…read moreWine tours. Reminder that you need appointments to visit Chateaus in Bordeaux. The tour started off by the vines which in early October meant harvest had already been completed. However we got to sample and take selfies with some grapes that didn't make the cut, man they were delightfully sweet! During this time we also learned about how the terroir that makes the grapes taste the way they do. Then indoors we went, where we got to see and learn how a grape from the vine turned into a pleasantly delicious wine! Of course a tour would be lacking if you don't see the barrel room, I believe I might have asked if I could pay rent and live there but nope no takers lol The tour ended in their newly renovated tasting room. We sampled a few vintages. My favorite was the 2001. But it all comes down to personal preference. I highly recommend making a visit to this Chateau as 1) it's in one of the plots in the small regions of Pomerol 2) it shows you a family owned Chateau does it vs bigger Chateaus that are right across the way 3)the wine man the wine is good!
