Be aware that if you book through a 3rd party ie: Hotels.com, Kayak, Expedia, Travelocity this place doesn't honor the reservation. It doesn't matter if you prepay weeks in advance they will not call you to let you know they "overbooked" because what they are really doing is selling the room out from under you at a higher cost to walk in customers. We where left in the lobby with no room hours from home. Worse is that the hotel and Hotels.com didn't care the only thing they did was give us a refund which isn't much use when your holding your bags and no place to stay!

We enjoyed our stay. The pool was warm and comfortable. The breakfast was ok, better than no breakfast at all but, nothing super fancy.

Upon arrival, I was told that the room that the app reserved for me was not yet available. No big deal so I took another room. The beds here are the worst I've ever slept on. I could not sleep very well because you can hear everyone else on your floor every time they make a move. When I finally decided to get out of bed because I realized there is no comfortable position, I realized that trying to find a way to sleep only hurt my back during the night. Instead of a nice relaxing evening in a hotel room on the road, I received a stressful night of loud noises and a bed from hell!! The bathroom door would not stay completely open because of the hair dryer and towel hanging pegs. This makes it difficult to enter and exit the bathroom without bumping the door. There was no snacks to purchase in the lobby. The staff was nice but I believe one of the ladies that helped me just started so this lead to a much longer check in process. Limited parking due to construction equipment. The front awning was blocked off for some reason. The place appears to be under renovation. The room I was in appeared to be recently renovated but I truly hope I'm wrong. I will avoid this place in the future. Life is too short to waste money like this. If this review sounds like I'm bouncing all over the place it's due to a lack of sleep and extreme discomfort from staying here. AVOID-FOR YOUR OWN WELL BEING!!

Just said I can talk to a manager on Monday and offered no alternatives. My family has to drive now straight through from Florida to Pennsylvania without a break. I'll never book a Hampton Inn again. No apology. I guess we were supposed to be fine this happened. Didn't even explain if our credit card would be refunded. Keep driving and stay elsewhere to avoid a hassle.

Everything was new and immaculately maintained, and I enjoyed the galley kitchen. My biggest caution is for the mobility impaired. A very steep staircase leads to the loft bedroom. I decided I didn't want to risk stumbling down it if I had to go down to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Instead I used the pull out sofa in the tiny living room. It was not very comfortable but it did the job. On the plus side, there are breweries and a pizza place in the converted mill next door, so we did not have to hunt for dinner! Interesting experience but one time was enough for me. Ps if booking through a third party app, you may not receive the code to unlock your tiny home. Not to worry. Just call the River and Twine number directly and they will take care of you.

This is mostly useful as a more interesting alternative to Rocky Mount's collection of very average chain motels along 64. It's definitely a different lodging experience and the clusters of tiny homes along a gravel road make for a colorful, fun little neighborhood feel. The parking is close by, and there are several food and (mostly) drink options at Rocky Mount Mills, which is adjacent. Note that there are only two restaurant options and the rest are mostly brewpubs, so food variety is limited. The hours of operation can be somewhat limited as well when it's not a weekend, so check that out when making plans. My first stay was in the Elizabeth, which was fine except the shower curtain was a little grungy and the sitting area wasn't suitable for curling up and reading, because it was just a padded bench with one end backing into a bookcase and the other into a countertop. Second stay was at the Neuse, which had a U-shaped seating arrangement where you could read for a while and a shower door that was much cleaner. So you're not allowed to stay in a place calling itself a tiny home and complain about it being small. I will just comment that the shower stall is hard to maneuver in, and if you drop the soap, you will have to get out of the shower in order to pick it up. Also, the stairs up to the sleeping loft are veeeeeeeeery steep. If you have to make a bathroom trip in the middle of the night, it can be quite a production. Also, the mattress is in the highest part near the ceiling, and heat rises. While the A/C unit worked well, it would be nice to have some sort of fan arrangement in the sleeping area. Note that the kitchen area provides a coffee maker and two mugs, a nice mini-fridge, a microwave, and some paper to-go cups. There are no other dishes, so if you're eating in, you'll have to account for that. The contactless check-in and check-out works fine, the tiny homes are cute, and the experience is distinctive. I wouldn't want to stay in one for more than a couple of nights, but for a short stay it's a worthwhile adventure.

We wanted to check into a hotel first and then grab something to eat, and there were several hotels in the same area. We decided on the DoubleTree by Hilton, and I'm so glad we did! From the moment I walked into the lobby, I had a great feeling about the hotel. The lobby was nicely decorated, comfortable, and inviting. The front desk associate, Jacqui, was absolutely wonderful. There were a few other guests in the lobby, and everyone was chatting and being friendly. Jacqui was so welcoming and helpful and made checking in a really pleasant experience. She was able to get us a great king room and offered us the famous warm DoubleTree cookies and bottled water. I asked if she could hold onto the cookies until we returned from dinner, and she very politely did -- and even gave us extras! Such a nice touch after being on the road all day. There was also a really nice seating area in the lobby with comfortable couches, pillows, and tables. Our room was a nice size, clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable, and although the pillows looked a little flatter than I normally prefer, they were surprisingly comfortable. I fell asleep almost immediately and slept like a baby! We woke up early the next morning and actually missed the start of breakfast at 6:30 AM, so we didn't get a chance to try it. Overall, this was such a pleasant experience. After a long day of driving, it was exactly what we needed. The friendly service, comfortable room, welcoming atmosphere, and those warm cookies really made a difference. I would definitely recommend this DoubleTree and will surely be stopping here again on future travels through the area!
