My family and I decided to stay here for a UNT Graduation weekend. The location is perfect in relation to UNT- just a few miles south of campus and right off the highway. Upon entering I was greeted by the two gentlemen at the front desk. Both were friendly and the check-in process was super fast! My aunt had added a first floor request, which they honored, although I advised it wasn't necessary for this visit and that we could be flexible with our room. The hotel lobby was large and incredibly clean. Our room was located on the first floor, just a few feet from the outside door. For us, this was perfect, as we were able to walk in and out without having to go down long hallways or into elevators. Our room was a double queen and was super clean! I was really impressed with the rooms and we had very tall ceilings which you rarely see in chain hotels! There was a couch with small tables and a desk as well. The TV offered plenty of channels and the bathroom was large as well. Again, super clean hotel. My first complaint would be in regards to the noise- the guest above us made lots of noise and were running around / stomping most of the night. While I could have called and complained, I'm sure it would be hard for the hotel to prevent it from occurring. My second complaint is the lack of mirrors- there are two in the bathroom and NO other mirrors in the room itself. When you have 4 people staying, there needs to be mirrors for those not occupying the bathroom. This caused an issue for us as the 4 of us were in and out of the bathroom and trying to coordinate showers, while getting ready, etc. Overall, this hotel was very clean and the staff provided amazing service. I had an excellent night's sleep here on a very confirmed bed. The linens are soft and the room was clean, but the location is a bit noisy. You can hear quite a bit of truck traffic from the road. They offer Starbucks coffee in the cafe downstairs as well as made to order breakfast. For night owls, there are happy hour specials. I love the huge business library with comfortable seating and free Wi-Fi. read more

Once we got to our room (double queen beds) my husband first words was wow this is very nice and he was right. The room was very very clean. The bathroom was big. Our room had a walk in closet. This place was decent but nothing special. I was greeted by a worker at check in that gave me keys that didn't work and then helped other customers, who came to the front desk after me, before finally helping me get functional keys. I then went to my assigned room and when I opened the door was met with a room that had not been cleaned. The towels and toiletries were strewn across the bathroom and there was trash throughout the room. Clearly I was given a room that was not cleaned and sanitized-especially nerve wracking with the coronavirus outbreak in Dallas. I called the front desk to inform them of the situation and then waited for about 15 minutes before I was met at the dirty room by an employee. He led me to a new room, which thankfully did not have trash in it. The new room was solid but the floor was creaky and a tile in the bathroom seemed loose. There was also tape on a few walls throughout the building holding up wallpaper it seemed. Like I said, overall decent at best but nothing special. read more

Nice clean hotel as Marriott usually is. The reason for 2 stars is the hotel staff. Went down to buy a bagel and get a coffee before the bistro closed. Lady behind counter said she decided to close early since she didn't have many customers that morning so she refused to get us a bagel! What??? We asked if we could grab a yogurt parfait and fruit cup. She agreed. Got back to our table, opened the fruit cup and it was slimy and moldy! Gross!!! Took it back and she did replace it with a fresh cup. Got up the next day to check out around 9am. Walked down to lobby and they had decided to mop the floor of the lobby at that time! Had to make our way around the bistro to avoid a slip on the floor and then return to drop off the keys at the front desk. Why not mop at night instead of at checkout time? Hotel is very nice. Staff is very friendly but grossly understaffed. The little cafe doesn't open until 0800 am and closes at 10:00 am which I found not to be inadequate for my needs so I had to eat somewhere else. Soap and other condiments are in tiny containers and insufficient for a woman to wash her hair etc. Certainly not enough for two people. Bed was great and I rested well. Since the hotel was packed or appeared to be there was little or no parking. I found great parking available at the Best Western next door or at the restaurant in front of the hotel. Due to the under staffing and the appearance that they only had one person working on the night shift I did not feel safe. read more

I have stayed at the Courtyard Denton on numerous occasions for business travel and would recommend the hotel. Upon each visit my room is always available upon arrival and one some occasions it was ready much earlier than I expected. For instance during my last stay I arrived at 10am but didn't ask or expect the room to be ready since it was way before the normal check in time. I had planned to just work in the lobby until the afternoon but to my surprise my room was ready. If you don't have the Marriott mobile app, I highly recommend it as it allows you to notify the hotel of your arrival time and file the credit card you intend to pay the room with resulting in a speedy check in. The room styles are adequate for this hotel category. :) I have only stayed in a King room and though the beds are "springy" (not your Westin heavenly beds) I've never had a major issue falling asleep. Some Yelpers have commented about the "smell" in the rooms. Yes, if you're unlucky you can find yourself in one of those rooms but simply ask to be moved. I have always had a positive experience with the staff. They are polite, quick with requests and have always done their best to accommodate my room type requests. I also like the Courtyard because they have a spacious lobby with tons of seating to get work done if needed or just lounge and watch the latest news on their one large screen TV. Food wise, there is no complimentary bottled waters or free breakfast. The lobby area has waters and snacks for sale and the hotel has a restaurant called "The Bistro" where you can purchase standard breakfast/lunch items ($8-$15) or grab an alcoholic beverage from their bar. All in all, solid hotel for this business traveler. Appreciate the attentive staff. It's my "go to" hotel when I'm in Denton, Texas. read more

I am a Marriott lifetime platinum member which is to say that I have thousands of nights at Marriotts. I do not get service. I left this hotel today to find my Bose headphone case empty. I don't take them to the office so they were in the room all week. When I let management know they said sorry, nobody admitted to being in the room. At least they left the case. read more

Everything was good when I checked in, check in was smooth and easy. I put my bags in my room and left back out to continue my night, once I got back to the room after showering I pulled the sheets back and moved the pillows around only to encounter a bedbug. I immediately gathered my things and proceeded to check out. I was advised that they were not able to do anything at the moment and they would advise the manager and to send an email about my issue. I've emailed twice have yet to hear anything back or even receive a refund for my stay or the days that I was not able to stay. Considering the room was over $600 plus the security deposit I would expect them to be on top of things like that. Checking I was easy, the lobby was nice, the room was okay, and the location is great. So what's my issue? Safety! I expect a hotel to take safety seriously and for their employees to be awake and present at the front desk. Unfortunately I did not feel safe at all. We had issues with people fitting in the room next to us and there were no employees to be found! Both of the phones in our room did not work, so we called the front desk from our cell phones and there was no answer. If it was a fire I guess it would have been up to us to make the emergency calls...from our own phones! The next day I talked with the front desk, she said the manager was busy but she would call/email me. Nothing. I left a review with the hotel website (not posting it to the general) I received a form letter email and I responded to him (Mr. Sunita Hira) I still haven't gotten a reply. This hotel disregards its guests and does not take safely seriously. For that, I'll never stay here again and I don't recommend this hotel. Stay across the street at the Best Western Premier, it's worth it! You'll thank me later. Lol. read more

Was there for ballooning event which mean had to be up very early in the morning before breakfast staff arrived. Ask the front desk clerk if it would e possible for him to make a pot of coffee. You know what? I was pleasantly surprised by the Courtyard Marriott in Denton: rather than make a lengthy drive back after an evening of rocking it with the local yelp crew, I checked in here to crash. The rooms are large, well appointed, and while Courtyards don't pass the robe test (as in the rooms don't come with one), that scarcely mattered once I was in flat and in rapid eye movement. The bed in my room was a comfy king, and that suited me just fine: know that this stretch of Denton is ripe with all sorts of chain-y hotels, and I gather that they do plenty of business around high traffic times at UNT and TWU. This Courtyard appears to be pretty new, for what that's worth, and as such most of the appointments here were in good working order. Super affordable, and I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

This is a review of the Bistro restaurant in the hotel. I did not stay at this Courtyard; I stayed at another hotel within walking distance. But I had stayed at a Courtyard Marriott in Dallas the night before, and had a surprisingly good meal in their Bistro, so thought I might wander over here to get something to eat. It seemed a better option than the boring chain restaurants in the area, and the best my hotel had to offer was chicken strips made in a toaster oven. So when I walked in, two staff people were lounging in the booth right next to the door. And by "lounging," I mean one of them was literally lying back at less than a 45 degree angle in the booth. I can only assume they were the front desk personnel, because nobody was at the desk. No biggie, everyone needs a break sometimes. I went to the counter at the Bistro and there was nobody there. Eventually, one of the employees in the booth came over and said, "I don't know where the bartender went, but I can take your order." She took my order. 15 minutes goes by. Then the bartender comes by and tells me it is going to take 15 minutes to make my food. He goes on and on about how he's the only one there. Okay, so where has he been for the last 15 minutes? I'm the only customer in the Bistro, so it's not as if he's been swamped with other customers. I've already paid for it by this point, so there's no going back. 20+ minutes later (35+ minutes after I ordered), I get what was admittedly a very tasty green curry shrimp bowl - shrimp with a rice/quinoa mix, green curry sauce, tomatoes, and cilantro. For sure way better and healthier than anything I could have gotten at the chain restaurants, though the portion was a little small. I had to have a snack less than an hour after I ate. The bartender did come back to check on me once, but after I finished my meal, I walked up to the counter to order some dessert. Nobody there. I stood there awkwardly for a few minutes, then gave up and left. As I was leaving, the front desk personnel were still lounging in the booth. I got a good meal out of the deal. But I did not feel welcome at all. Yes, First World Problems. But when you're traveling on business, away from your family and friends, is it so much to ask for the hospitality industry to be hospitable? read more

This is, by far, the nicest Marriott Courtyard I've tried. I wasn't excited about spending $150 for a Courtyard, but the room was actually just as nice as the one I had at the Renaissance in Richardson, plus I got free parking and free internet. The modern, stylish decor, comfortable workspace, and convenient fridge/microwave area made my room a pleasant place to relax and an effective place to get things done. Unlike other Courtyards where I've stayed, this one does not include a breakfast buffet. They do have a bistro, so you can order breakfast foods, but that is at an additional cost. But coffee is available in the rooms, and I'm not really a breakfast person anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. read more

Would give this place an overall 4 Stars, but rounded up to 5 because of the great service! I had a wonderful stay here at the Courtyard Marriott this past Friday night! I was here for a conference for students & young professionals and was able to get a really great group rate through an organization. The lobby area is really nice, and I wouldn't mind staying here long-term. There's an indoor pool & 24 hour fitness room that we didn't get to use, but I'd definitely want to use them next time. I stayed in the room with some friends and we all really enjoyed the decor of the room. The lighting was perfect, beds were really comfortable, bathroom was nice, and the room was overall great. I thought the room we had was gorgeous and very sizable. The staff was very helpful & friendly which is always a plus! Before I booked the hotel, the conference had told me that breakfast was included, but when my friends and I woke up the next morning we didn't see a buffet breakfast and the front desk told us that the rate we booked only one breakfast was included. I asked if there was anything we could do and the staff worked diligently to accommodate us. We ordered the breakfasts & drinks we wanted, and the staff at the cafe brought it right to our table. I was definitely impressed and cannot WAIT to stay here at the hotel again. Needless to stay, we left very happy, but wish we didn't have to leave at all! read more

We were here for a week while my husband was on a business trip so I spent some quality time in the hotel but it was a great experience. The rooms are set up very nicely and the bed was extremely comfortable. Having a mini fridge and microwave in room was useful for reheating leftovers from all the restaurants we were able to try nearby. They don't have complimentary breakfast there but we did end up having it included in our stay. I think it was something his company did for him so we were able to try out most of their breakfast options. They're all good but my favorite was the egg white frittata. There is a lot of construction going on in Denton so getting in and out at certain times of the day took a while but it was definitely bearable. The great thing was that I couldn't hear any of the construction from our room. We would definitely stay here again if we come back to the area. I have stayed at this courtyard nearly every week for the last 5 months. There are many positives and only a few drawbacks. The aspects that keep me coming back include very friendly staff (although they seem to rotate out fairly quickly - almost none of the people that worked here when I started coming are still with the company), the gym is very good for this level of hotel with free weights and high ceilings, HBO1-4 including the family version, washer and dryer on site (just ask the front desk for detergent), a reasonable pool and jacuzzi, a nice fire pit area outside and the whole cafe concept is cool. The drawbacks include a kind of blah color scheme in the rooms and a slight dank smell in parts of the first floor. Besides that this really is a solid hotel in Denton. It is certainly one of the nicest Courtyard Marriotts I've been to. It is slightly more than the Homewood Suites in the area but, I still prefer to stay here. Regarding the restaurants, yes, there is a Red Lobster, Olive Garden, a Texas Roadhouse and an On the Border right in front of the hotel...but, there are better restaurants in Denton (see my other reviews) if you're adventurous and want something a bit different. read more

This place is probably the nicest hotel in Denton...maybe a little pricey for Denton, but it's worth it. It's one of the only hotels in the little college town that doesn't look at least 20 years old. It was peaceful, perfectly spotless, and super cozy. The rooms are huge, the beds fluffy, and there is a nice HD TV in your room to enjoy while you lay in said fluffy bed and channel surf. The rooms are also some of the most practically and beautifully decorated compared to any other hotel I've been stayed in. My only not-so-positive moment was entering my hotel room after a morning of shopping to find that the cleaning people had not actually cleaned my room, but simply laid new sheets on the chair and threw all the towels into the bathtub. read more

I travel close to 100 days a year and only stay at Marriott's. This review begins with me calling the hotel the morning of my stay requesting a room with a balcony. The woman that answered the phone checked to see if one was available. Once she realized one wasn't she then took the extra step to check the room type I wanted to see if she could move someone. She found that one room was scheduled to be occupied by a guest but wasn't sure if it was because of the room type or because it had the balcony. I then told her that if she couldn't get me a room with a balcony that I'd prefer a room on the first floor. She then asked if it was ok to put me on hold to call her manager about the guest in the room with a balcony. She came back to let me know that she had to leave a message for her manager but she went a head and put me in a room on the first floor and once she heard back from her manager she'd let me know about the balcony room. Later that afternoon I received a follow-up call from the same woman letting me know that she still hadn't heard back from her manager so she was unsure about the balcony room. Fast forward to my arrival, because travel this day was insane because of weather I asked my wife to call the hotel to let them know it would be really late before I arrive. I finally reach the hotel at 1:30am and walked in to a very nice surprise who is Johnny Smith. Johnny said without even knowing my name "Mr Hatcher, I've been waiting for you, how was your trip?' That blew me away. As he checks me in I ask if they were able to put me in a balcony room and again to my surprise he said yes. This tells me that the woman I spoke to followed through and went the extra mile to get my room. It also tells me management to the extra step on a Sunday to look into the guest situation to make both of use happy. On Monday night myself and several other colleagues staying at the same hotel go out to dinner to watch the BCS National Championship game. We get back to the hotel just before 10pm right before the Bistro at all Courtyards close for the evening. Again to my surprise they have a wonderful young woman named Sarah Freeman working it. She had a small crowd with all the people I brought back with me and she stayed until the game ended which was around 11:30pm. Not only did Sarah stay open late that evening she stayed open late for the guest the next 3 nights only thinking of the guest and not the long hours she had worked. When talking to my other colleagues about my experience at this hotel they all felt the same way about what a great hotel this is. I'm back again this week and look forward to checking in. I agree that this is the nicest Courtyard I've ever stayed in. This is the perfect place for you if: (a) you like super smiley service; (b) you like chain stores; and (c) you want to be close to I-35E. Within a mile of this hotel, you have a Macy's; Dillard's; Super Target; JCPenney's; Hastings Books. Within the same parking lot of this hotel, you can eat at Texas Roadhouse; Olive Garden; or On The Border. The rooms look beautiful + newly decorated- lots of shiny dark wood + maroon/mustard accents. Bathroom is clean + well-lit. One computer terminal in lobby w/free Internet; another computer for simply printing out boarding passes. 10 minute drive to UNT. read more

probably the first and last time to stay here. I chose it because it's near my client, UNT. it's about 10 min from the school, great location and it's right off the highway, easy access. when I checked in, the room they provided me smelled terrible. something to the smell of masking the smoke that was in there. it definitely seemed like someone smoked in the room prior and housekeeping just tried to cover it up by spraying something and not even open to window to air it out. when I went to change the room, they gave me the same floor, just a few doors down. it was better, but you I heard the front desk agent radio down to the front desk to say..."it doesn't smell THAT bad, he was lying..." that was real nice to hear. 1. why did the front desk agent have to go up when the housekeeping staff was already on the floor? I knew it was him because he checked me in and since my room was right across from the old room, I was able to look out to see who was taking. 2. that was just rude and unprofessional. they had 2 computers in their business area but only one worked. I needed to print out papers for my meeting, but could not get on a computer. I told front desk and they said they have to call in to someone to come to the hotel to fix...wow! luckily there is a fed ex less than 5 min away... I got my stuff done there. there are many hotels in the area, I'll probably try somewhere else next time. read more

This Courtyard is very well kept and was a pleasure to stay at. I choose Marriott properties when traveling and this location was everything I expected from Marriott. The place is well lighted at night and several nice eateries are within a 3 minute walk from the hotel. Service was phenomenal from check in to check out and I do appreciate the housekeeping staff replacing my broken iron within seconds. Would NOT recommend a group block at this hotel. I have been working with several different staff members in order to do a simple group block of rooms and every time I speak with someone (always someone different by the way), they say they have it taken care of, but I have received no written confirmation. And frankly, I have sent at least 5 emails, and called 3 times (internationally, so they've cost me money), over a 3 week period and still cannot get them to send me any information. Horrible service, apparently incompetent and I hope they are okay that they have lost their business to another hotel in the area (who by the way processed my request and confirmed within 48 hours). Overall, the Denton Courtyard sales team needs to get their shit together and not leave customers hanging. read more

This is pretty new. The place is clean. The room is spacious. It has a good size desk. It has a small sitting area with a love seat that's a convertible. It also includes wireless and wired internet. The location is good. It's near the Golden Triangle Mall, Target, and several restaurants (Texas Road House, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, On the Border). My only complaint is the price doesn't include any breakfast. read more
