It's likely you'll find Mr. Flood here when you stop in and there's a good chance you'll also meet his cat while wandering through the many treasures displayed in the main shop as well as the old house next door. By now you've realized the "Flood" in the shop name refers to the family name. The building was originally constructed to house the general store of J.A. Flood. Construction of the building was completed in early 1932. I posted an old photo that was on his Facebook page from the early years of the general store, what a time that must have been it sure brings back old memories just as the artifacts you'll find here do. Where to look- which direction to go! 3 feet into the store I knew I was buying presents for my daughter. I had to restrain myself so many times! I stuck to my initial instinct and bought some wrought iron hooks in wonderful designs- a lighthouse and an octopus! I may even mount them on wood for her as a special touch! It is a tad dark inside and there are very narrow aisles between the "booths". They are filled to the brim with a mix of genuine antiques, collectibles, copies, and vintage as well as some newer items. We did a quick run through checking out prices on items our parents and grandparents used to own. Some of the things were crazy high. But others more reasonable. They are dog lovers, bird lovers and even have fostered kittens in this shop! Prices vary- I know a little about antiques to know a good deal, but usually end up buying art instead of antiques here! They have even had some pottery pieces that my mom collected in the 80's- I almost bought last time I was in. But, that's mom's style and not actually mine. Also this "store" was listed under thrift shops. As we entered, we saw that in the back there are a few areas with vintage items and some antiques. But the place is more of a collection of artisan offerings -- each with their own area -- of everything from jewelry to painted signs, gifts and tourist things. Housewares to home decor; bric a brac to collectibles. Handmade and custom creations. The staff is quite nice. The store is fun to browse. And the kind of place to look for a unique gift for that someone who has everything.
