The house is open on the weekend (from about May to October), and always has a friendly guide to show you round. Even if you've been before it's worth going again because they are constantly rediscovering old features and restoring it to its former glory. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the progress of historical reconstruction. Added bonus - there is always live 17th-century music in the house on Saturdays. Also - If you enjoy concerts, and live in the area, then make sure you ask them for their list of events. They are always high-calibre and thoroughly enjoyable if you like that sort of thing. They are very reliable and offer a good friendly service at a reasonable price. This particular business is actually based in Tetbury and holds the Royal Warrant of Appointment to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales (like a peerage for trade), so it obviously comes with a higher recommendation than mine!

Also of note is the newly refurbished restaurant which is really nice. The food is to die for and the staff fast and friendly. The icing on the cake is the craft village which you can visit at the same time as the garden centre which houses some ceramic painting centres, photography studios, butterfly house and a soft play centre. All in all this makes for a great weekend trip out with something for everyone.

Anyway, assuming I have got the right place, it is a nice garden centre just off of junction 16 of the M4 motorway. They sell plants and all things garden related like patio furniture and garden spades and forks. There is also a part that sells fish and fish ponds and accessories. It is a nice place to browse around and when you have finished, there is a coffee shop where you can stop for a cuppa and a rest. At the rear of the premises is a craft village and Butterfly World and a childrens indoor play area.

I've bought various friends and relatives quite a few different bits from here over the years, from earrings, to trinkets, to musical instruments - so it's a pretty good bet, regardless of whom you're buying for. Upstairs there's the art and furniture section, which is filled with a range of paintings, sculptures, mirrors and wall-art. There are some really interesting pieces to be found, mostly a bit out of my price range, but it's definitely worth checking out - even if you're not buying.
