Worst experience ever!!! A month or two back I went to try out the Country Gardens deli. I ordered a sandwich on white bread. When I got home, I found my sandwich was made with the heels of the bread. Wouldn't you be annoyed? I went back because I figured it seemed like a new kid behind the counter and was still learning. Plus, I paid a good amount of money for my sandwich and was looking forward to eating it. I could have given a poor rating then but didn't because they fixed the mistake.
Today I, my husband and daughter decided to give it another try. Our order was taking quite a bit of time to complete, so I went up to counter to see if he was working on our order. I believe the same kid was making it and I could see that it looks like he was picking out plastic from my sandwich, you know the kind that is wrapped around the meat but wasn't moved so it was cut with the meat and placed on my sandwich. I hoped that wasn't the case and went to check out.
At check out the girl who was also new, and rang up the person in front of us wrong. We had to wait for that to be corrected. Then came our order. First, we were rung up for $53 and change which included 4 extra packs of apple cider donuts that we didn't purchase. Yet for some reason, they charged $43 and change on our credit card. As we were leaving we realized that there was still an error and charged our credit card $11 too much. (Clearly they don't train their employees well enough.) I don't blame her, I blame management. Finally, we got it figured out and got to go home to eat. The first bite felt like I swallowed something odd. Sure enough my second bite proved that I was pulling out sliced plastic meat wrapping. I wrapped the sandwich back up and went back to the deli to get a replacement.
When I arrived the owner, Dominic, addressed me right away. I said I'd like a replacement and told him about the plastic. He immediately got hot with me and told me that I should take my business elsewhere. What? I was shocked. I asked them to fix their mistake. Wow! In fact, third one today. When I realized exactly what he said, I responded that it would not be an issue since this was the second visit, second issue. All he did was say he didn't care. Still shocked, all I could say was WOW several times! This is how you treat your customers? Following each of my wows, he responded, "do I look like I care", "I don't care about you". At that time, I asked for a refund, he said, "NO you can take your sandwich and choose any of the three exits and leave". I told him that I was happy to share online. He said he doesn't care, he has too many clients that love him and doesn't care about me. OK! I was annoyed but went in good faith trying to give them the chance to fix a mistake and I was met with hostility. This is shocking to me considering this is how he chose to treat a customer when his employees make a mistake. Two visits, two mistakes. He could have handled this so differently, but chose to attack me because I asked them to fix it. I guess no one has ever asked them to fix a mistake before. Plus, in all my life I have never had anyone speak to me with such disrespect.
No worry here about taking my business elsewhere. This place was a total fail. read more
