I'm not entirely sure what they were getting at with the name. Does Country Fare imply that the products are from a region outside Melbourne?
This is the type of question that I will mull over during a coffee. Stupid I know, but at least I'm honest.
Country Fare is a nice little cafe, in a nice little street, with nice little cakes and coffee. It is inoffensive and pleasant, but it just doesn't have an affect on you. Its a little too nice.
Firstly the cakes don't taste like they are made on sight, but rather ordered in. This is okay, but when I last had cake and coffee I noticed that my sweet was a little stale, I think it had been there for a while.
The coffee is fine, a little bitter and the milk needed some work but you can get past that with some sugar.
I will say that the service is lovely; the wait staff were really friendly and seemed to be dealing with a sudden influx of business well.
Country Fare is a nice place to have a seat and a think, but don't expect amazing quality food or coffee. read more
