She told us the history of the loop, what's currently going on and what's up and coming. We could not have asked for a better guide. The food is important but having a good guide I think is equally important. Tracey went above and beyond. We loved her. Five stars for Tracey. Now on to the food. I will list what where we stopped and rate each individual place. SALT AND SMOKE- OMG THE BEST PLACE ON THE TOUR. They gave us brisket and Mac -n- cheese( which they just won an award for) I live on the East Coast and we are not known for good BBQ but being a foodie I do know good food and this place was slammin! The brisket was the best I've ever had and so was the Mac-n-cheese made with some ritz crackers on top. The manager was very friendly and welcoming. They showed us the smokers up close which was very cool. They have 4 different sauces to try all made in house and all delicious. Liked it so much we are going back for dinner. PI PIZZA- Being from the East Coast, New Haven, home of world famous Sally's and Pepe's Pizza I have high standards for pizza. This pizza was not what I'm used to but enjoyed trying it anyway. They served a small pizza for the 3 of us which is extremely generous on a food tour! SHAWARMA KING- kind of a dive place for college kids, kind of while in the wall place. Chicken schwarma was tasty and falafel was average. Owner wasn't talkative or friendly but that's ok. I would eat here if a broke college kid or drunk at 2am but not a place for a first date SEOUL TACO- Korean taco joint. We had a beef taco which was delicious and kimchi rice that was also good. I would go back to this place for sure. PICCIONE PASTRY- they gave each of us a gooey butter cake canoli. St. Louis is famous for gooey butter cake if u didn't know. The cannoli was filled to order and was very good. Very sweet but very good. The tour was about $55 a person and was well worth it. I've been on other food tours across the country and this one gave us the most food for our money. I've been to others where we left hungry but not here! If you take this tour at 11 am like we did I suggest you do not eat breakfast! I would definitely recommend this tour if you are visiting St Louis both for the food and to learn the history. You are able to get some history as you walk from stop to stop and I think all of us were introduced to a new restaurant in St. Louis! They even provide cards for you to take notes at each stop so you can remember what you thought about the place. It was perfect for our women's event because we were able to all network as we walked, then network with different people at each stop. Have done running tours in Philadelphia and it's a great way to see the sights on foot. I'm glad when major cities offer such a tour. Food tours, mural arts, walking are all great too but running was my chance to take a break midweek from the sciencing and networking. Joe had several tours available on the weekends but I was able to do one on a Wednesday evening as part of the summer schedule. As I caught a Lyft from St. Charles during rush hour to the meeting spot at Kierney Plaza, Joe was understanding if I was a little late start. Turns out I was the only runner signed up so it became more like a personalized tour. What I loved was hearing Joe's vast knowledge of St. Louis along the way, and his passion for running. He even carried a camera and took photos throughout. Of course we stopped at the arch, but also Lacledes Landing, the riverfront, bridge, Lewis and Clark statue, the ballpark, Citygarden sculptures, City Museum, and other neat houses/buildings even after the sun went down. The price for the downtown tour included the photos (via Dropbox), bottled water and a t-shirt. I forget the exact distance but the pace was comfortable enough for conversation. Had fun out on the road, exploring! There's a lot to be said about opting for the active, outdoor, fun option while traveling for conferences. Happy to have chosen the road less traveled! There was a brief hiatus in September but regular tours should be back.

Buying tickets online was simple and there are a range of packages with the arch and more. We did the simple boat tickets only and were on the noon cruise.
