This is my…read moreopinion because on numerous occasions, there has not been a front-end manager to assist cashiers with differing needs. Meaning, things that aren't every day happenings. 1.) Food City charges $5 to cash checks. This transaction includes giving the customer a receipt that the $5 can be used toward groceries or gas. NO ONE knew how to complete this transaction. The manager supposedly was out on lunch, and the employee trying to rectify the situation was rude and unprofessional. So, there is no available manager. 2.) An incident that occurred to a family member needing to use WIC & EBT. The cashier and the head cashier could not figure out how to complete the transaction. As with me, the head cashier was, again, rude and unprofessional. This ongoing manager absence should definitely be looked into. They'll be moving into the new store down the street in about a month or so. Let's hope they get their act together and hire personnel who want to work and actually know what they're doing. The sales are the best around most times, but the rudeness is sort of outweighing the savings, IMHO.

Food Lion is a decent supermarket (not too big, not too small) that carries basic items like eggs, milk, bread, etc.. More importantly, the staff are polite and professional. If you're having trouble finding a specific item, be sure to ask!
