Went for a curry near my new house; really wasn't expecting a place this good. Atmosphere and service good, not too expensive, and food absolutely excellent. Menu not too large but better to do a limited menu well than a larger one not so well. When they finish building the tram line there will be a stop right outside so easy to get to and worth the trip. read more

It was a grand dining experience here at Cottage Balti in Beeston. A friend of ours lives in the area and we were delighted to hear that there was a decent curry house nearby. I went for the Makhani Chicken as my tummy wasn't up for anything too spicy and it was grand. Very tasty. The floor staff were very friendly and prompt. They were also very patient with the more merry of our group. Really nice facilities too. Modern decor and very clean. Really good to see in a curry house. Five stars for a delivery but only three stars for an in-house meal, hence 4 stars overall. If you eat in the restaurant, the popadoms are ridiculously expensive, yet seem to appear in abundance when delivered to home with a meal. The in house prices are absurd. Popadoms aside, the food is good and the service is prompt and friendly. Definitely recommend, just don't pay for the popadom and pickle tray. read more

Dinner here was a delight. My husband and I are foodies, and this place fit our bill with wonderfully flavored dishes, beautifully plated and served in a peaceful atmosphere. We shared a "vegetarian platter for two" starter and enjoyed four different appetizers. We then shared entrees of Lamb Jalfrezy (we are chili heads and ordered it 'hot' - go 'medium' if you prefer less spicy - a deep tomato-ey, onion-ey, spicy sauce over tender lamb chunks with chili heat that sneaks up on you) and Chicken Podina (this dish was new to us, and it was an umami bomb for the tastebuds. With each bite, you think "this is DELICOUS." Chicken in a creamy green sauce of ginger, mint, and ground spices. DO NOT MISS THIS!). As a last minute dessert decision, we ordered the Cardamom flavored ice cream. It was like eating a spoonful of flowers - creamy and well-flavored, the perfect ending to a spicy meal. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food and atmosphere. Easy to reach this Beeston restaurant by tram (green Toton Lane line stops across the street from it at the Chilwell Road stop). Highly recommended, especially for foodies! read more
