This is a lovely little bakery in bedford although I feel it is let down by it's location as it is a little bit out in the sticks. The only time I visit it is when I am on my way to the doctors, and when I am in there I never see anyone else in there. The location factor is also not helped by the fact there is bad parking as well. Once inside it's lovely, the staff are always so cheeful and look genuinely happy to be there. I don't find the prices expensive either which is always a bonus ad makes me go back time after time. They offer a good choice between sweet and savoury items. read more

So disappointed! CHatGPT suggested I try this bakery for fresh British bread so I've been waiting since Sunday evening for the shop to open at 7:30am Monday morning. I wish I hadn't bothered. We were there at 7:33am. Walked into the shop and got nothing. One woman couldn't even be bothered to look up. We were probably the first customers of the day, but if I hadn't pointedly said Good Morning, I doubt the women would have even spoken to us. I just wanted a fresh British sandwich loaf, and I was assured the loaf I chose was fresh. It isn't. Maybe it was fresh out of the freezer, but it may have been days or weeks since this loaf was actually baked. I make a lot of bread back in the US, so I know fresh bread. Lidl's or Tesco bread is better than this. Maybe the pastries are good, but I'll never know. This was my one and only trip to a Cottage Bakery. read more
