They do not tell you the cost upfront. Batteries are have gone up, which is expected but they don't tell you that cleaning is now $20 in addition to the battery. The watch is already open..then to have a link taken out of the same watch that just cost $40.00 was an additional $21.00. It's the only place around I get that. But does not mean it's fair. Had brought a watch in for repair approximately a year ago. Have had to bring the watch back a couple times since because it quit working and they did get it working again with no clear explanation of what was going Wrong . This last time I brought it back they said it was the battery, even though they had replaced the battery in it not long before. I was told it would take three months to tune up my clock. Seven months later I was finally able to get it. There was no customer service, they didn't call to let me know it would take more time. When I called them, the owner didn't seem concerned at all. The cost was over three hundred dollars. I would not recommend them. read more

Down right BAD, BAD, BAD. First of all they did NOT give me a price upfront. The old lady that waited on me told me to do a few errands and return to the store and it will be ready, this was at 10:30 in the morning. I told her that I would be back on Monday since I live in Pinehurst (I'm 86 BTW and it was a saturday!!) The lady told me that they would be closed on Monday so I said I would be there Tuesday morning when they opened..she said ok and it will be ready. When I went there on Tuesday morning I had to wait as there were two coustomers ahead of me. When I finally got someone, they had not even started on it and they told me to come back. I was furious. I told the old lady that she was the one who had told me it would be ready, she just shrugged her shoulder and didn't even reply to me. Long story short, I came back the next day and they charged me $26. I was furious and I will never go back again. Jus to put in a new battery, that's ridiculous and it's cheating the public!!! Raced home from work to pickup my watch before closing. I pulled right in front of the shop right at 5pm. The staff was still inside with the lights on and the "Open" sign was still displayed on the door. I made eye contact with the female inside and as I started to get out of the car to go inside, she darted to the door, flipped the sign to closed, locked the door, and quickly turned away as if I wasn't on my way inside. I try to support small businesses because normally they provide more personalized service and care about their customers more than big chain stores. However, in this case, Walmart would have been the better (and way less expensive) choice. I'll pickup my watch, but that is the last time I will be visiting Cote Timeworks. read more

I have had a number of batteries replaced there. They never reset correct time and date. Once they did not reconnect the band. Seems sloppy for a business that should be strong on attention to detail. read more

I took my Seiko watch with a perpetual motion to this shop for a new battery, and at the time the watch time, day, date and timer functions were all working. I had never had the watch opened for a new battery or any other purpose since the time I purchased it. Cote Timeworks replaced the battery but in the process the day, date and timer functions were disabled or broken. Cote time works denies this breakage is their fault and will not repair the damage they caused. read more

Brought in a moving van casualty, a treasured wall clock. The repair guy looked at it, removed the back, and started fixing. Fifteen minutes later, I walked out with a smooth running clock. Terrible experience. Brought an antique Seth Thomas just to have time adjusted. They told me it needed "servicing" so agreed to pay 275 for service. Went to pick up and chimes completely ruined. Owner unapologetic and not accepting responsibility. "I didn't work on it so I don't know what's wrong with it". Obviously clueless when it comes to his business. Update: After they took my money brought clock home and found pieces rolling around in it. Had to return again now chime not functioning. Great service, reasonable prices, and quality workmanship! I have had several watches and clocks repaired here. The staff is friendly and really knows what they are doing. One watch I took there was deemed unfixable by two other repair shops, but he fixed it in under an hour and it has stayed in perfect working order for more than five years now. Took watch in to replace battery. Clerk ask if I wanted a missing screw in plate replaced .I said no. Asked if I wanted watch cleaned. I said no that I just wanted battery replaced. I just moved here. I previously paid $12.00 each time replaced battery. When I picked watch up I was told the screw was replaced as well as a washer. The bill was $42 and change. I recently had a clock worked on here, and had an extremely disappointing experience. When I dropped off the clock, I was quoted a price in writing for $25, which I thought wasn't a bargain, but I believed to be reasonable. When I returned to pick up the clock, I was charge $37. When I brought it to their attention that I was quoted a lower price, I was told, "She made a mistake when she gave you that quote." I explained that I would have considered other options had I known the actual price. I was then rudely told that they would take the new movement out if I didn't want to pay. When I got home, I realized that they had scuffed the glass from the inside of the clock!!! I can safely say that I will never give this store my business again. read more

I recently had my watch battery replaced at Cote Timeworks and was very impressed by their operation. The owner (Jonathan Cote) has formal education in watch repair. The work was performed by his apprentice (Ricky) and after he was done he had the owner check his work. He took the time to remove and lubricate the o-ring on the case back. Terrible experience! I took an antique mantle clock in to be regulated. They charged $250.00 to regulate and clean. They never met one date they gave for completion . Clock has been in 5 times since Jan 2017 and still isn't right as of August 2017. Andre shouldn't be working on clocks. He is completely incompetent as a clock regulator. At least they finally gave me a refund. I feel like they should have paid me for all of my time and trouble. read more

Cote Timeworks failed to repair my German Cuckoo clock after four(4) attempts. They charged me $266.88 to overhaul, oil and regulate the clock. Each time they returned the clock to me it was not working properly. Either the music didn't play or the clock stopped after a few minutes. The last time they returned it the clock would strike continuously on the hour or half-hour and the music played at half speed. After the fourth attempt i requested a refund. It had become obvious they didn't have the knowledge or skill to get the clock in proper working order. They refused to issue a refund. read more
