It's a great place for both large and small groups, families, or even a business lunch. I have been there for both breakfast and most recently for a late dinner and enjoyed it both times. The décor is old school Mexican colonial. They have both a downstairs and an upstairs dining room. Both times I went I wound up upstairs which was not air conditioned, but still pleasant. Bathrooms were clean. The food is traditional Mexican. If you order coffee it will be "café de olla" which has cinnamon, pre-sweetened with piloncillo (raw sugar), and is prepared in a clay pot. So there is a distinct hint of clay pot in the flavor. Of course, they have soft drinks, and a couple of "aguas frescas" which are always refreshing. For dinner we had the parrillada which had grilled beef, onions, cheese, and a cheese stuffed bell pepper. It came with beans, tortillas (flour or corn) and chips and salsa. I tried all the salsas. One was habanero and will wake you up both when you eat it ...and remind you how spicy it was the next day! They have all kinds of "antojitos mexicanos," I recommend the gorditas with your choice of filling. Be prepared to put your conversation on hold for a few minutes and hear the "mañanitas" in full mariachi sound if anyone is celebrating a birthday. Both times we had the avocado salsa and every last thing was great. Our drinks were mediocre the first night, but on visit #2 we had some bomb cocktails (hers was Jamaica-based;'mine was Gin with blueberry juice ). Service and ambiance are cool. The night we were there had live music which was really nice. It brands itself as a Mexican-Thai restaurant, but to me it's a straight up seafood joint. They have a really intriguing cocktail menu which we sampled throughly, and it was the Jamaica Habanero that came in first place. That drink was spicy, fruity and full of flavor. Can't think of a better cocktail I've had honestly. For appetizers, we tried the Tiradito De Hamachi which was delightful and had these tasty fried grasshoppers on it, and the Ceviche de pulpo a las brasas, which was buttery, delicious and had a bunch of chicharrones in it which I though was a really interesting and unique combo with the octopus. For entrees, we went with the Pescado Orsán and the Camarones En Vara-Asados. The winner there was the Pescado Orsán, which was a perfectly cooked catch-of-the-day with amazing texture resting on a this really nice cauliflower rice with little pieces of asparagus mixed in. I thought that dish was truly exception given the perfectly balanced mix of flavors and textures. The Camarones En Vara was tasty as well, but nothing in particular stood out with that one. Service - Ricardo was my primary server but they all take care of you.... Food - I started with Vuelve la Vida and then had the Robalo which was recommended by Ricardo.... It may be the best piece of fish I have ever eaten and I have eaten a lot of fish in my 50+ years on this planet.... The atmosphere and ambiance were excellent. I cannot wait to go back!!! I love this place!!!
