And there's a bus that takes you straight there. So off I went... Only upon arrival did I see the Wal-Mart sign next to it. Well, at least the prices will be cheap, right? I was starving so went to the cafe, where the lines were long, food was nearly out, and the tables a mess. To their credit, the poor workers were doing their best to keep the lines moving and tables tidied up, but just too many people making a big mess as they went along. The interior of the store was pretty cold, and the "free from" selections not much greater than Morrison's (although the freezer section had GF fish for fish and chips, meatballs, pizza, burritos, and the Amy's line of organic foods). I poked around the rest of the store and found the clothes line to be rather dated (Wal-Mart and Target in the US are vastly better) and lots of cheap home goods that's probably OK if you can't make it out to IKEA. Not worth a second visit; maybe it's time to see what Tesco and/or Sainsbury's has to offer.

There's nothing terrible about this Asda, but it has enough faults to make you want to shop elsewhere. Why Asda and not elsewhere? Like its other chains, Asda is a bit more expensive, and the quality isn't as good for most of its fresh produce. If I really must shop at a supermarket, I might as well justify it by its super cheapness or utter convenience. The better part of my soul might resent my local Tesco, but at least I have a good economic reason for going there. They might not oppose unions like Walmart, but I would still rather shop elsewhere.

Unless you have a car, then the big Tesco in New Town or the big Asda over by the Corn Exchange are a pain to get to, which means that this is where you'll head when you need a big shop. As well as all the usual food and grocery-related stuff this branch also offers a pharmacy, a household section, clothing, a bakery, a cheese counter as well as a butcher/fishmonger counter. It just so happens to be housed within the world's ugliest shopping centre, Cameron Toll. But don't let that put you off; with free parking and good bus links this is a pretty handy one as far as supermarkets go. Just avoid it at the beginning of all the uni terms, as it's packed to the rafters with students accompanied by their doting mums buying them enough food to last them until the next holidays and then some.

It is in a great location for students as well as it is near the Kings Buildings and therefore many people get flats in the area. Sainsbury's therefore get a good amount of younger customers. The store really does allow you to save a lot of money because if you go to the smaller branches of supermarkets such as Tesco Metro or Sainsbury's local, they tend to concentrate on stocking branded items rather than the cheaper Sainsbury's brands. I mean I really can't tell that much difference between Sainsnury's own baked beans than Heinz beans, and this shop would allow you to get these cheaper options. The shop also has a great range of clothes items and home items and would sure to be of great use at picking up some bargains for the house.

I was anticipating just getting a premade salad and then adding cans of fish to the leafy greens but I was PLEASANTLY surprised to find that they offered pre-grilled/poached/cooked meats and fun anti-pasti toppings! I grabbed a clean, and huge, bowl of mixed greens that also included radish, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and large leaves of romaine lettuce... And then I also selected a package of plain poached salmon and a package of lemon her grilled salmon (2 fillets per package)... On top of that I also got some marinated artichoke hearts and more cherry tomatoes... Hey what else am I going to do on the train, right? Well, even though I wasn't all that hungry when our train finally left the station, I still chowed down, finishing every little bit. The amount of food I could certainly could have fed four people, but ha, not when my chompers are in the picture! I wound up finishing this meal in about 25 minutes and I have to say, it did help the train ride go by a bit faster! (Or maybe it was thanks to the rather entertaining drunk people?)... Any who... A lot of people don't realize that a GROCERY STORE can offer just as fast, if not faster, FAST FOODS than say... The Burger King next door... And might I add 80000x healthier?!? I highly recommend you get CREATIVE with your dining options! Oh and BY THE WAY... Fiancé got 2 portions of marinated and grilled chicken and he didn't put a stink at all, in fact, I do believe he quite liked what he got.
