Clean, easy to navigate, and relatively tame shoppers. This place is like an Ikea for food. For those who don't shop at Costco regularly (myself) this is quite dystopian. Cold industrial lighting highlights towers upon towers of consumer goods, neatly packaged and smelling of plastic. The building itself could house what feels like the entirety of West Hartford. Security is present, multiple times we were checked for our Costco card. The deals are good, not exceptional. Example: dyson supersonic is the same price on Dyson.com, and has far more colors. Nonetheless the place is fun with ample food and close, organized parking. read more

I loooveeee lovvveee lovveee Costco. And it's so true that their eggs are underpriced in the current market which is a big plus. I get snacks for my kids and convenience items for those nights we don't have time to cook an elaborate meal. I highly recommend the tempura shrimp from the frozen and cold food prep areas. Both choices are amazing in an air fryer. They also have some of the best mass produced croissants you can get outside of Paris. Seriously- they are so buttery and flaky. Even when the parking lot is full- you can still move around and get through checkout quickly. And the snack bar makes my kids feel like we are going on an adventure rather than restocking our cabinets. read more

More dish soap selections. Customer attitude in store - nothing less than positive/happy/conversationally chatty. Absolutely best selling point: hundreds in checkout line, floor managers kindly "managing" the customer flow thru to the door out. Time in line: maybe 7 minutes to register. Head Cashiers accessible for any need as not to hold u up when paying. Membership fee: higher (perks w mbrshp- waaay more included) BJ's: positive points for having name brands like Perdue or Oscar Meyer. Price points slightly higher because you are paying for brand familiarity. Liquor Shop waaaay smaller and all prices HIGHER BY $3-7 than Costo Liquor. Smaller selections of meat. Bakery similar but also seemed smaller. Not as many toiletry choices. Nutritional supplement isle had less to choose. Absolutely not as many healthy choices. Spent equal time reading labels at both. Costco def offers healthier foods. Both offer pre packaged unhealthy but practical meal options if u choose that. Customers attitude in store: grumpy/cold/not many smiles/not one casual convo happened. Many obese customers with multiple carts (this just tells me that their name brand choices and food options met a presumably Yummy Standard) [along the lines of thinking I should never trust a skinny chef]. Was in Costco ordered a pizza waited 35 minutes asked how much longer. They said 35 - 40 more minutes - a white lady was so rude to another colored employee I felt so bad I canceled my pizza and told the kid don't let her treat you like that and don't ever let her or anyone walk all over you like that. Her name was Lori and she worked in the food court. I can not believe they hire people with a behavior like that.They should give that kid a raise for being so nice to customers and respectful towards that woman that was treating him so badly. read more

My family and I have been to many Costco stores in many states. This one was closer to where we were staying than another costco in the are, that had higher reviews. This location was good though. It felt a little smaller than other Costco warehouses, but I'm not sure if it was my imagination. We ate at their food court and we found some local goodies that we don't usually have at our Costco in Texas. We specially liked some fall themed cookies from Canada. The parking lot is smaller than at other locations. The spaces seemed shorter, and a bit narrower too. I found a box of Halloween goldfish but it was open, I asked an employee and he was very helpful. That was the last box they had and it was open so I didn't get it. Oh well. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. read more

COVID19: the store offers disinfectant wipes at the front however, it has lessen its strict enforcement of social distancing and neither do people follow the rules any longer. I have seen shoppers walk around with improper mask use (the mask must cover both nose AND mouth), or sometimes even, without them on. Clorox wipes are often in low stock and I have not been able to purchase any since the start of the pandemic. Costco does offer other disinfectant and hygienic items such as masks, sanitizer etc. I am unsure how often the store is kept clean so I would definitely recommend cleaning everything once bought. They are often stocked but the days differ so you must count yourself lucky to catch it. Also, masks wearing are often not enforced while pumping gas which is a pity and a risk. Additionally, each costco runs differently from another and caters to its local crowd. The Waterbury Costco does not offer a lot of asian cuisine items unlike the Milford one. They used to offer plenty of samples but the workers can be a little bit snippy at times. The bathroom are frequently kept clean. There are often lines for the food court and the tables used to be busy/occupied but I'd recommend cleaning them before sitting down. read more

Always a great place and location to shop. During these difficult time dealing with Covid 19, they have been especially wonderful. Clorox wipes handed out at the door. Signs posted and floors marked for social distancing and a big board outside the store showing what's in stock and out of stock. A store does not get much better than this. Everything you need at possibly the best price you will ever see. Layout is simple. Its the go to shop. Costco is a great place to shop and all the employees are very friendly and helpful. I do want to share something that was witnessed today although no fault of Costco. A woman came in the door without a mask on and the employee asked her to put one on. This person not having any regard for anyone else shook her head no and kept walking. He tried to give her a mask but she refused. At a time like this people who refuse to put on a mask should not be allowed in and if they just walk in and ignore others they should not be allowed to check out. We need to all take precautions and if someone has difficulty breathing maybe a face shield is the answer but to disregard the safety of others and our faithful Costco employees it is just wrong and disrespectful. read more

I just recently started getting my medications at the Pharmacy. The prices can't be beat. I stopped getting my meds at CVS. I'm saving quite a bit every month. The difference was amazing. I also recently found out that most of Costco's profit comes from their membership fee. The costs for their product is almost all at or around cost. We absolutely love Costco. The employees are friendly but the parking lot is a nightmare on the weekends. This is no fault to Costco, but many people seem to lack common sense and can't follow a simple directional arrow. They always go in through the opposite side. Since kohls is also right there, many people tend to blow through the stop sign because they assume that you're going to Costco so just pay close attention when driving. This Costco is easier to navigate than the one in Brookfield. There always seems to be samples going on between 11-4 which is nice since we're buying in bulk and want to make sure that we like the food that we are buying. The people that work the samples are always very kind and nice and let me read the ingredients list prior to trying the food. read more

They were really harsh about the membership policy. Review about membership services: went there on 10/4/19 around 230pm to redeem a groupon membership. Kathy at customer service was so rude and condescending in her attempt to upsell me. It was insane how much scorn there was in her voice. Still debating calling manager but their phone line is also messed up. Sigh. Okay... Well, where do I start? There is so much I can talk about! I've been coming to Costco since they first opened (almost 20 years), when I was just a little wee one. We have utilized all of the services that they had: optical, the photo center, the tire center, the gas station, we even bought a smartphone from their wireless center. Every service we utilized all the employees have been professional and friendly. Only a few times in all these years we had dealt with rude individuals, but it just seemed like they were just unhappy that day or some other explanation that did not involve us personally. We have started out with their basic membership. Several years back, there was an employee going around scanning membership cards at the checkout lanes to give feedback to customers on how much they have saved. The employee who scanned our card recommended that we upgrade to the executive membership, since we spend so much there that we would benefit from the annual 2% cash back reward. So we did and it is worth it as the money we got back annually pretty much paid for the $100 membership every year. It depends on how much you frequent Costco to determine which membership is right for you. Weekends tend to get pretty packed and navigating this large warehouse can be difficult. Especially when there are food samples all over the place. People swarm like bees around a sample cart and then clear out when all the samples are gone. Yes, I am guilty of that too. How can you go to Costco and not try the food samples? Easiest way to get a free lunch. ::wink, wink:: The food court was remodeled a few years back and offers a variety of foods for a cheap price. You can easily feed two (or even three) people for less than ten bucks. Or get a pizza to go to feed the whole family for about ten bucks. I love Costco. Great prices for bulk, professional service and everything else in between. The membership is worth it. read more

Oh the gloriousness of Costco. Despite it's size this one is hidden behind the water park.. yep, BEHIND. I don't care if there is BJs or whatever big wholesale warehouse is out there. Costco provides me ample parking, cheap gas and a variety of products I can confidently spend my money on. Not also are the prices pretty awesome, the $1.50 hot dogs are still unbeatable and the bakery/carniceria in the back always have fresh meats and baked goods to feed a small country. Since the warehouse is large, they understand that you need to hydrate and maybe grab a snack while you shop and browse... the samples are great and I probably buy 30% of things I've sampled. They're not afraid to offer you some baked salmon or a shot of cranberry juice or even a warm slice of lemon cake. Costco and it's Kirkland Signature is awesome. Too bad I'm in Connecticut and there is no alcohol here. Get the butter croissants and giant shrimp. Hell, buy the 6 tubes of toothpaste, giant bag of frozen chicken breasts and the ginormous tub of ice cream ... why not. read more

Love this Costco, the hours are great and they have some awesome rotisserie chicken. Who can beat the $1.50 quarter pound hot dog & soda deal. Their prices on gas are somewhat cheaper that many of the others in the area, about 10 cents less per gallon by my estimates. Some of my favorite items are: Cattle Drive baked beans 6 dollars for 8 16oz cans, and the cinnamon raisin bagels are to die for!! Ample parking, accepts debit and american express. read more

costco is pretty much always the same where-ever you go - a big store full of bulk packages at decent prices. i think i have been to all the CT costco's and i like this one the best. you know when you go to costco you are leaving with a car-sized package of toilet paper, 16 heads of lettuce and more bulk packages than you can shake a stick at. The parking lot is a little strange, and getting in there by going down that little road past the water park hotel is also weird, but once you are there its a nice costco with a gas station. I had never been to a Costco before visiting the Waterbury store, so experience Costco shoppers must please forgive if this review has a whiff of Captain Obvious about it, but... This place is amazing! I was expecting a sort of Sam's Club / Lowe's style big box warehouse, but it's far and away better than either. Unbelievably clean and organized even on busy days (the clothing section in particular is neater than some high-end department stores), great prices on a wide variety of goods, an amazing grocery section, and well-treated employees that seem to enjoy their job? How did I go so long without shopping here? I was sort of surprised that they didn't have tights or pantyhose in the clothing section, given that they had all sorts of other undergarments (including shapewear). Also, in general they don't have single kitchenware items (I was looking for a grill pan, but they don't have any that aren't part of a larger set), but I suppose that's the nature of bulk buying. And until Connecticut joins the 21st century and drops its temperance laws, we all will miss out on the joys of bulk booze purchases. Anyway, the only downside I found is that I had to make five trips from my car to my apartment (in the rain) in order to unload all of the stuff I had bought. A small price to pay. read more

Ah Costco. So ingrained in my childhood I have so many memories of shopping and eating here. Something about it is enjoyable...not the same stress you get when at the grocery store. I find that this store has friendly staff and shoppers, unlike the Milford store. I have to say 95% of all purchases here i have been very happy with, and guess what? If your not happy with anything...no matter what it is or however long ago you bought it, they'll take it back. Their ribeye steaks are always fantastic, and usually a steal for around $30 bucks for 4 large steaks. I always buy my spare ribs and pork butt here for BBQ. The baked goods are always good too. No other store can match the prices here folks. Oh, need landscape supplies and shrubs? Come here..after dropping $800 at a nursery the same day, I walk into the store to find arborvitaes, hydrangeas, and boxwoods, at half the cost! Do yourself a favor and get a $1.50 hot dog or 2, and ask for sauerkraut, don't forget the onions from the onion dispenser! read more

The place to be if you have a membership here. Parking is more than enough and the gas prices cannot be beat. The place is huge. It is very neat and organized for a store in Waterbury. Great for bulk shopping or that one electronic that it is time to replace. Got air conditioners and computers from here and the warranty and return policies are great. Better than electronic shops'. Bakery is unbelievably good too. Get all of my tomato and pepper plants here too. Never had an issue with them growing. Tire center is extremely quick and efficient. Hazzard coverage is awesome too so long as you keep up with the alignments/rotations which are also free if you meet their mileage chart. It is easy to get into and out of being that it is on East Main Street. The lights work great. Staff is a bit slow at times and there is really no one to ask where things are. Sometimes the free sample people point me in the right direction, but if you visit here often enough you know where everything is anyway. Food court is okay. I only ate there once and it was pretty good, but I am not going to rate this place based on their deli. It is a convenience for people who are passing by or waiting for their tires to be installed. Ditch the supermarkets, department stores, and tire towns and come to costco - A one stop shop for all of your needs and at a price that wont break the bank. read more

Costco! I wish there was a sidewalk to get there so be prepared to walk alongside your car brethren. Be careful. It's the same prices, but if you're used to getting a choice between a hot dog and a polish, guess again. Instead, you could choose the hot dog and drink ($1.50) or the italian sausage ($2.79). Looks good so you can't really go wrong. Also, if you're looking to buy mass quantities of alcohol like you might be used to, this location DOES NOT have it.
