I heart Costco. It's exactly like the Costcos you'd find in the US...everything from the massive rolls of kitchen towels to the free samples of jelly beans and instant noodles. Plus, they have a larger selection of American products than Woolies or Coles. I have a love-hate relationship with the the quantities on offer. I really don't need 1 kg of hummus, but then I'm super happy to only have to buy laundry detergent once very few months. The produce and meats are really good. The steak fillets are top notch...butcher quality for the price you'd find at the supermarkets. The prices are also fantastic especially for wines and bubbles...$52 for Veuve vs $90 at BWS. This is where I buy my booze. You can easily "pay" back Costco's annual membership price just by buying a case of wine. It's 5 stars in my book...where else can you buy a $5000 cartier watch and a 24 pack of pop-tarts?!? Just be sure to avoid the weekends when it's an absolute zoo!

They say a change is as good as a holiday and I think switching to shopping at Costco is probably the closest thing to that phrase ever ringing true. It becomes this fascinating BBQ conversation where everyone is either dying to know what really lies behind the guarded walls, or eager to tell the tales of their own bulk buy experiences and theories on the product quality. "Did you hear that the home-brand Vodka is the same as Grey Goose?!" they shriek. "Check out this giant bottle of hot sauce!" we reply. It's bizarre, but also entertaining. As a two-person 'DINK' household, there is absolutely zero reason for us to own a Costco membership. We actually have it to bulk buy for work purposes and they give you a free household membership to go with it. As someone who is likely to host a party for 100+ people, it can come in handy...but you really need to be doing massive shops regularly for the outlay of buying in bulk to be worth your while. The quality of the products is good. We got stuff like nearly half a kilo of jamon serrano for next to nothing and we won't be buying toilet paper again any time soon. The layout of the store is overwhelming and you'll probably spend any savings you may have in impulse purchases of novelty sized items. I also spied a lot of items that were actually more expensive than the local supermarket like meat so you would need to do your homework to know what you're saving on. The shopping experience itself wasn't pleasant at all, like any grocery or warehouse style shopping. Watching the flood of enormous overflowing trolleys and hoards of families stampede back to their vehicles from the Costco elevator was almost cartoonish and I would never, ever, ever come here on a weekend. Ok for the right occasion, but not a place I would visit by choice otherwise!

    That's a LOT of Condoms!!!!

Omg Costco! A place where u can buy in bulk to feed the whole tribe plus random sofa, mattress, jumping castles so your whole tribe can live with you. Costco often have random stuff so one day you might find a KITCHENAID on sale, the next week it will be gone. I guess it lures you to visit more often cos u always ended up buying more stuff than u need. Like, always. Membership cost about $65 annually but seriously I think we saved that much on our first visit there. For us, the cheapest stuff to buy there are toilet paper, kitchen paper and facial tissues (yes, we obviously use a lot of those!). Carmen's museli are really cheap there as well as nappies, if you are into those. Of course those giant tubs of yoghurt/ icecream/ Nutella/ peanut butter/ vegimite a are fantastic too but seriously we don't have the space for it, so I could only looked at it longingly whilst pushing my giant trolley towards the toilet paper section... Lol

Costco is a giant warehouse that sells grocery items in bulk at a reduced price. The pricing isn't reduced because they are old or nearing their due date, they are just simply cheap- most likely because its bulk. It isn't just groceries here at Costco, they've also got TV's for a few hundred dollars cheaper- AND the warranty lasts as long as your Costco membership. Meaning if I buy a TV in 2011, and it breaks in 2020- If I'm still a Costco member in 2020, they'll replace the tv! Costco also sell diamonds-yes real diamonds! Clothing, cubby houses, outdoor furniture, inflatable boats, books, sheds and many more odd things you wouldn't expected- at unexpectedly low prices! A yearly membership with Costco is $60 which includes one supplementary membership card to someone of the same address (family/housemate). Costco is extremely strict with their membership, there is a photo of you printed onto your membership card and unless accompanied by a card holder- you can't enter the warehouse. When it comes to paying, the cardholder must pay. Yes! They actually check the name on the credit to see if it matches. So no 'borrowing' your friends card. Overall I definitely think the membership is worth it due to the amount of savings. Costco also have a pretty great cafeteria where hot dogs and giant slices of pizza are sold for just a couple of dollars.

Here's a tip to live by: DO NOT attempt Costco on an empty stomach, with a hangover, whilst desperately in need of an afternoon nap. If you do, you may die- or wish you were dead, which I think is worse. Costco is my personal version of hell. Everything is so freakin big. I don't think you can overstate how big things are here. Think, Texas big. United States big. Everything-that's-wrong-with-the-world BIG. For that reason, Costco was useless for me. I like to buy small portions of everything so I don't end up throwing stuff out. And, I'm just one person, how much s**t could I possibly need? A LOT, if Costco is to be believed. Here is my tip- if you are a normal person, stay away. If you are a harrassed mother of 5 teenage boys who consume 2 kilos and peanut butter and go through 100 toilet rolls a week, you MAY, I repeat, MAY benefit from an annual trip to Costco. But for God's sake, keep the Xanax handy and have a good lie down before you go.

It seems like there is a lot of Costco hating going on and hating of the US of A for that matter. I can completely understand why Costco isn't for everyone. For starters it is located n the Docklands which frankly still has a long way to go before it is a fine area of our city. Secondly, if you run kind of a small ship and don't have a massive family to feed, then it is absolute overkill. But for businesses and big families, I can see why it might come in helpful. For those that haven't been yet, I'd recommend checking it out for a social experiment. Eat plenty of samples and have a damn good time exploring.

    A beautiful day at Costco.

Quite possibly my favourite place in the city. What does that say about me? Anyways I love a good deal and there are many to be had here if you shop smart. I get the essentials here like sauce, toilet paper, and toothpaste. But there are treasures to be found as well! Cakes are the best and super cheap, fun American treats like pumpkins and pumpkin pies around Halloween time, Amazing selection of alcohol, and quality meats at a great price. The customer service is incredible and the return policy is on your side. It's always an adventure coming in but it's always fun. I always spend far too much money but I'm never disappointed.

Auski is one of the few decent Ski/Snowboard stores left in Melbourne's CBD that provides good…read moreservice and sells quality products. I went to the store to ask for some advice on new snowboard boots and mentioned that I had come across a second hand snowboard that looked like it needed a bit of work done. I also needed other snow wear for the season and with there extensive range and great customer service I ended up buying what I needed on the spot. Ask for Matt if he is still around, he helped me with my snowboard boots and even threw in a free board service to bring my board back up to scratch. I couldn't find the bindings that I was looking for in store, so he suggested a couple of websites where I could get them at wholesale price. He also offered to install my snowboard binding for free when I found the right ones that suited me. The store has two levels and the fit everything on the spot for you. If you need advice on certain fits, brands, product it's a one stop shop and they really know their stuff.

I have been to pretty much every jewellery store in Melbourne looking very specifically for a super…read moredelicate, very fine rose gold wedding/eternity band. I had a bit of a goldilocks situation going on where everything I tried was too big or bulky, too expensive or too cheap (not real rose gold). I considered not wearing one and wasn't confident in getting one made without being able to try it on. This store was pretty much the only one I hadn't tried, somehow overlooked, possibly because of the dodgy Elizabeth St location next to the 7 Eleven. I'm glad I did finally go in, because the range here (for me at least) was just right in what I was looking for. Good range of band sizes and shapes and plenty to choose from in Rose Gold which not a lot of places stock on hand. I found the perfect ring for a fraction of the cost of another I had spied that was very similar. I went home and did my research on the store to see who and what I was paying for and the place is a family owned store by Ron Bensimon the diamond wholesaler. So it was settled, this was the one. I couldn't rave about the service...jewellery salespeople tend to be like car salespeople! Bit shifty and changed what they were saying with every second breath, but I appreciate that they're out to make a buck and this is pretty standard. They have a jeweller on hand which made resizing very quick and easy, although they weren't very clear about what happened to the remaining diamonds removed from the band when reducing it a full size and a half, so I'm still chasing that up. Communication was really poor and they never called me to say my ring was ready, so I suspect they will never let me know and I'll have to hound them a bit. But niggly service woes aside, a nice store and one I would definitely check out again or recommend having a look at if you're in the market for something sparkly.
