First time using a car wash at Costco ever. I was a bit apprehensive because I didn't quite know how it worked or how to pay for it. So pull up, tap the card on the machine, get a receipt, then pull forward to the attendant who marks off the receipt. It's pretty simple. My old car wash closed so that's why I had to use this one (also out of curiosity) and that's why I was used to getting my car on the track and putting the car in neutral so that it gets pulled through the wash. What I found surprising was how thorough the car wash washed my car. And unlike my old car wash, it doesn't leave excess water or soap on the books and crannys of my car. I didn't have to wipe it dry a lot like I did with my old car wash. The principal issue with this car wash is that it is REALLY far away from where I live. Do not come here unless you want to risk damage to your car!! We took our car here since the price is great, but had to wait in line for 30 minutes and after that found out the entire back of our cars side mirror had been knocked off! When we told the attendant this, he went into the wash and found the part immediately, but said that this happens daily!! He walked out with a second car mirror as well! The price is right especially in San Diego where the cars seem to get so dirty even when we don't have a lot of rain. So if you have to wash your car often, Costco will help your pocketbook. The associates before the car wash are helpful in getting your car aligned before entering the automatic wash. I ended up with some soap left on the car but I wasn't expecting perfect this time. So if you have reasonable expectations this wash could be of good value for you. read more

Can't beat a great car wash for $7.99! Plus the employees working here are always so nice. Bertha (my truck) is fairly old but I love her and I never realized how much better she looks when she is run through the car wash. At least the Poway location is wonderful, it does an amazing job. Wi had to stop by Costco on the way home for some gas and saw that there was a Costco car wash and I had to stop by! I love everything Costco and for 7.99 that was hard to pass on. The wait in line was actually really quick. You can either pay during your gas fill up or you can pay in line for the car wash. Everything was fairly quick, you put your car in neutral and the machine pushes your car through. The whole process itself took minutes. Although it didn't do an amazing job washing the car, it was quick and convenient. I saw a lot of people pull over after the wash to dry off the remaining water from their cars. read more

I wanted to try out Costco's car wash but I wish I didn't. Halfway through the car wash I heard a loud crack and when I came out of the car wash, I was missing a tail light cover. I talked to one of the attendants and he let me sign a claim to see if Costco would help me pay for the damage. I spoke with their insurance company from Illinois and they reported back saying there's nothing they could do about the damage caused by the car wash. They claimed that they issued over "1000 car washes" and no one filed a claim but upon looking through yelp reviews, there are definitely other people who experienced this. They pointed out that my fender was slightly misaligned and were convinced that was the cause of my tail light getting damaged. I've taken my car to Soapy Joes for years and never had an issue. I would not recommend going to their car wash. Staff present at the car wash were nice and helpful though, no issues with them. read more

This is the only Costco car wash in San Diego, unless you drive to Torrance or Victorville Costco, but the concept is simple, you can either get gas first and prepaid for your car wash there, or you can get in line of the wash and pay the machine there. Looks like the price never changed since my first time in 2018, still $7.99 per car, there will be a Costco employee at the entrance to mark your receipt and directing traffic, only one way in and out, when the weather is hot during summer time, the line will be super long, since I got my Costco membership I never get neither gas or car wash anywhere else but Costco. One of the best values to get a car wash if your a Costco member. It's not a touchless car wash heads up, but it's seems to be very well maintained and I've check the cars that I went in with and haven't seen visible scratches. I know if I got the correct lighting there might be some scratches/swirls on the clear which could be buff out. But for a quick stop and value it's all there. This is located in the back right of Costco near the tire center. If the left turn from Tech center Dr is busy due to the back up at the gas station just go straight pass the light and make a left on Kirkham way. Go east and it the drive way should be the first one on the left hand side. You'll end up at that 4 way stop in to Costco and Home Depot lot. Hang a right and the car wash is there. read more

GREAT VALUE FOR $$!! This self drive thru car wash is huge and works very quickly. Long lines only take 10-15 min. The wash pulls your car through a big 50-60 foot car wash full of sudds, brushes, jet sprayers, tire shine, spot free shower and mega dryers. The wash cleans your car and leaves it reasonably dry for $7.99. Bring a towel to get a perfect dry. I find the water leaves no spots so I doubt bother drying it off. You can get a car wash ticket at the Costco gas pumps while gassing up. The brushes are soft and don't scratch your car. This car wash can't be beat for price and for what you get. It can be a bit of a hastle to get into the wash as Costco has lately set up a maze of poles/cones that you have to drive through just to get to the queue. (This was probably done to reduce congestion within the parking lot). The cost is less than $8 and you get the works. The lines to get in are ofter very long, so I suggest going in slower times like on Sunday mornings or weekday evenings. Ok, let me be frank and honest. The bottom line is everyone needs to be very careful when using Costco's car wash. My vehicle has been damaged twice by the Poway CA Costco car wash. The first time my vehicle was damaged it was scratched from the front to the rear of the roof. This was an over $14k repair. The latest incident was this past August, when the car wash side cleaning brushes scratched the passenger door on my vehicle. In both cases, Costco denied that their car wash was at fault and fought hard not to admit fault. This time I lost the case, but the good news is the repair will be fairly inexpensive. Also, they offered to compensate me with Costco credits, equivalent of my repair costs. This is my warning, if you use the Costco car wash, it's only a matter of time before your vehicle gets damaged, and after every wash check your vehicle thoroughly. Finally no rain! My car has been so dirty luckily no one has seen it since I've been home. I went in early this morning to get gas and decided to get a wash with no rain forecasted for a while. Can't beat the deal $7.99 for a machine wash and air dry. You pay at the pump or when you drive up the car wash. If you pay at the pump just show the attendant your receipt. They will direct you to pull up. Make sure to have all your windows pulled up, antenna down and make sure to put your car in NEUTRAL and foot off the brake. You'll go through the wash, at the end the light will turn green to let you know when to step on the brakes and switch from neutral to drive. Super easy and my car looked so much better! How was the quality? It's a machine wash, so I didn't have high expectations. It did better than others I've tried. I went home and did a quick spot cleaning. Solid machine wash for only $7.99! I've been coming to this Costco Car Wash for a few years now and I love it. It is easy to locate (in the back corner of the lot), gets you in and out quickly, and does a good job for a machine. You can pay at the kiosk station (Costco Card required) or after you fill up with gas at the Costco Gas Station there. The wash itself is pretty standard, nothing out of the ordinary. It does a good job at cleaning, but it is not the best with the air drying. So, you'll often see a few cars parked in the open lot and the owners hand drying their car post-wash. Overall, if you need a quick wash and are in the area, you can't beat this price point and convenience. Extra-Tip: This Costco also has a Propane Tank refill station that is very reasonable! Love this Costco and having a car wash makes it even better! My only minor gripe was that the attendant waving me up was talking to another attendant, and he kept motioning me up without even looking to see where the car in front of me was located. If I would have followed his directions blindly I'm almost positive I would have hit the other car. So cool! 7.99 for a car wash?! Wish MV had this too! But then the lines would be miles long and Friars Road would shut down. It just might be worth a weekly drive out to the-middle-of-nowhere just to do it. The wash took exactly 2 minutes, 30 seconds. That's including the drying. I've been on a Costco exploratory expedition lately, trying out different sites to check out the different selections. That's how I discovered this magical car wash. I'm not sure why they needed 5 employees standing around for an automatic wash, but you don't pay or tip them so I guess it's ok. The best automated car wash you could get for that $7.99 great Costco value!! What a steal! My husband has been wanting to try the Costco Car Wash for awhile now and we finally made his dreams come true. I am always deterred by long lines but the positive thing about this line was that it moved fairly quickly. There were two car lines that merged into one and there are Costco employees that essentially guide your way onto the track and in you go right into the car wash. Cars are continuously fed through the car wash like a streamlined factory. A quick few minutes and your car is clean. When you're out there are plenty of parking spaces nearby where fellow customers are pulled over to wipe their cars dry.
