I've been going through a rough patch and she doesn't have NYC friends who like doing girly things, so we thought it would be fun to take advantage of the spa discounts listed in Time Out New York. This is a small set up, with one woman who does body treatments and another who does facials; unfortunately, this means that two people can't both get similar treatments at the same time, and one always has to wait. Luckily, the magazines in the waiting room were up to date. My plankton wrap was pretty fabulous, although I have my questions about the claims that plankton somehow lessens the appearance of cellulite or dissolves fat. Frankly, I don't really care. The woman (I'm awful with names) was sweet, friendly, but still professional. I never felt uncomfortable, though I was mostly nekkid in front of a total stranger. The wrap itself was very relaxing, and I left feeling both moisturized and rejuvenated. I have no idea what the prices are normally like here, but for $50 (before tip) I couldn't be more pleased.

Yes they do 2 facials at a time but they only move back and forth while you steam or while you lay with your finishing mask. They don't stop working on you to work on someone else. I don't mind this since it's probably how they keep their prices down. The prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of time, product and work they do. While one person is getting something down, the other person waits then vise versa. This is how they schedule them (t's NOT because an employee didn't show up or they tried to fit another person in). A couple came in after us and they were also told that they perform facials 2 at a time. Both beds are right next to each other in what can only be described as a wide hallway (people have to walk through to get to the back). She started on me first before my nephew arrived and was brought in for his treatment. While I was getting extractions, he waited under the vapor (for longer than anyone should). While he was getting extractions, I was left waiting with a mask on. My nephew is a teenager with hormonal acne so I knew I was going to have to wait a long time before she would finish with me. After about 15-20 minutes, I used the excuse that I needed to use the bathroom to get up. While in the bathroom I noticed that the band she used to pull my hair back was stained. I can't confirm what the stains were but I have an idea of what it could be. I would have never seen it if it weren't for the fact that I got up to use the bathroom. When I returned, I watched her do extractions on my nephew for a few minutes. She used a tool I didn't recognize (it looked like a razor with a point at the end). Never once did she ask him if he was okay or he needed a break or anything at all. After waiting another 10-15 minutes, I finally told her I had to leave and she put my nephew under the vapor again while she took off the mask and finished my facial. My nephew was there for a total of TWO AND A HALF HOURS. Again, it's one thing if the 1.5-2.5 hours were all focused on you, but it's not. Half the time you're waiting for your turn. There were other things I had issues with but I think this is enough for one review.

If you are looking for something pretty and luxurious, this isn't the place. I had some deep blackheads and pores I couldn't get out myself for months. The aesthetician was able to get out all of the big black heads , which is all I cleared about. My nose had ton of blackheads and now it's super smooth. I'm docking points for hygienic practices overall. The blankets and the sheets between clients don't get changed. I don't think that's clean. The room itself also had a smell when I walked in but not sure what it was. I did get a discount for first time customer. One hour was $100, not including tax and tip.
