There is some pay involved and there is an understanding that the art work generally doesn't last forever. Its a unique relationship between artist and tenant or building owner. I think the bad part of it is the ulterior motive - its not as if people have these murals for pure love of art - rather its to avoid something bad. I suppose building owners are 'in like' with these sorts of projects. I guess I see it as putting a missing person's face on the side of a milk carton.

Spacious, bright, private studios, wonderful location, and a vibrant social community! Whether you're a working professional, hobbyist or weekend warrior, all creatives are welcome here. The atmosphere is calm & focused when you need it, social & upbeat when you want it. The studios range in size from 10x10 to about 10x20, and they all open up to high-ceiling, airy warehouse with unique character. There's also a private back parking lot, which is something I didn't find at other studios in the area. They host occasional open studios too, which give the public a chance to step inside. My growth as an artist during my time here has been insurmountable. I will miss my time here but will carry the relationships I have made with me. Google lists it's domain as Shattuck ave-Well Fargo…read moreentrance. my listing is the entrance on Center Ave @Next Space CoWorking space. lst time i've seen it. coincidentally, lst time i sat inside while waiting for my iphone screen to be repaired. this mural of the iconic tower represents UC Berkeley exquisitely. instantly one is reminded of the academic excellence one aspires to while here. this is also the wellspring of "free speech" and co-originator of "Ethnic Studies". i "attended" UC in the quarter the US invaded Cambodia. i got credit without attending all my classes. i saw the demostrations from Eshleman Hall. UC is a great place to study into the midnight hours.... fyi. i go to Berkeley mostly to eat, not to study though i did semester's worth at one time.....
