The outside is a cute unassuming restaurant front. Downstairs you have the kitchen and a gorgeous staircase up to the dining area. The restaurant seating is small so coming early or making a reservation is a great idea. The food here was top notch Italian food. The pizza tasted fresh and was authentic. The pasta was equally amazing. Prices are fair, albeit in cash. I do wish they had some different beers on tap as there is something inherently wrong with drinking Budweiser in one of the beer capitals of the world. Overall, NG is really top notch and one of the better meals I had in weeks of eating out throughout Czech Republic.

Cozy, reasonably priced place for very decent Italian food in Cesky Krumlov…read more Comfy seating areas both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor seating area includes a playground for kids too :) Would highly recommend the spaghetti aglio olio e peperoncino if you can take spicy, and the pizza prosciutto di parma. The pasta is hand-made; very tasty and slightly chewy (a bit on the harder side, which I personally like). Excellent prosciutto on the pizza and tasty crust (not too thin, but not too thick either). The mixed salad with cheese and olives and the spaghetti bolognese were solid choices as well. We had a very patient and helpful waiter, service was excellent and we left feeling replenished and satisfied!

This restaurant was one of the three recommended establishments for having some traditional and…read moreauthentic Czech cuisine when we inquired about it at the Český Krumlov Information Center when we first arrived in this historic town in south Bohemia with the Moldau snaking through it. We walked to the restaurant from the castle hill during our excursion, but you could get here by car. There is a parking lot nearby for your convenience. As for the location, this restaurant is a bit out of the way from the town center. We noticed the building was massive and very dark inside, but that was well-fitted with this brewery from 16th century (1560?). Brewery tour was not conducted due to COVID-19 health protection measures. We opted to get a table in the court yard though it was a little breezy. When we sat down at the table we were served immediately (actually one of the nice servers took us out to the courtyard since we entered the establishment from the restaurant entrance). The servers were friendly and prompt. My beef goulash was perhaps a little lukewarm, but it was tasty nonetheless. I can't say it was the best I ever had, but it was good. In fact, I had a very good beef gulasch recently in the Lake Region in Austria. I must say I was a bit thrown off by the appearance of "bread dumpling" here. It looked like pieces of bread in oblong shape (photo), and they certainly were pieces of white bread?! I wasn't expecting that at all?? I thought prices were fairly reasonable here. You can pay with your credit card, so it makes it very convenient. If you want to pay with cash, you could pay in euro instead of exchanging it to the local currency. It seems every time you exchange currency, you'll end up losing some in the process anyway. Most of the touristy places, you can use your credit cards these days. Some places, though, they will insist on cash to my chagrin. I would recommend this restaurant to those who are looking for an authentic experience with traditional Czech food. I'm sorry, but I think it's really about 3.5 for me.

The walls arch quite a bit, as my husband found out, when he bumped his head. That shows to pay more attention in historical buildings, such as this one. They have good variety of traditional Czech dishes. The menu is both in Czech and English. We ordered: Home-made liver pate with onion marmalade and bread. It was so good, we basically "woofed it down" and ordered another one. Home-made cabbage soup - thick, hot and delicious. Definitely hit the spot. Beef goulash with dumplings - the quality of meat was first class. Classic dish that you can't go wrong with. Roast pork with cabbage and dumplings - the most traditional dish you can possibly order in Czechia. It was divine.
