I went there after a dispute with my neighbor blocking access to an RV that people were renting in…read moremy back yard. I explained on the phone what was happening and told that they would only take the case if I had title insurance. I found that to be unusual but since I had title insurance I went ahead and made the appointment. I was there for 29 minutes (according to Google Maps) and explained the problem, drew a map, and gave the evidence I had collected. Mr. McDaniel took several weeks to write a letter to my neighbor to see if that would correct the issue without having to go to court. It did not. I received a letter from the county explaining that living in an RV was no allowed and that it had to be moved. I emailed Mr. McDaniel explaining that I was very unhappy with the advice I received and felt he should have known that it was against the county code. He replied that he didn't know people were living in the RV. My take away from that is that the person on the phone didn't listen to me, not did he during the time I was there. Basically he didn't care that he gave bad advice and tried to blame me. I also wanted to mention that I was charged for .6 hours for my consultation. Google, who likes to track me via my phone, shows I was there for 29 minutes. Also I was billed an hour for him to write a paragraph, plus more time for his secretary to write it and mail it. Obviously, I would not recommend going to this law firm. I do not think they understand the law like they should. I also believe that they over bill their time. However, if you insist on going there take a stop watch and make sure you get in writing what they are going to do for you. They can not keep track of time themselves nor recall the conversation they have with you and why you are there.

I retained Barry Davis with a $4000.00 retainer. I told him that I needed to move the case forward…read morequickly, and he agreed. Over 28 days (during the months of April and May) Mr. Davis sent four emails to me, totaling exactly 39 words; informing me that he'd be in touch in the next few days, etc. After waiting for Mr. Davis for a month, I notified him that I was terminating his representation for lack of communication with his client. He responded, "I regret that you feel there has been insufficient communication." Mr. Davis did not send an invoice to me for the month of April. If Mr. Davis had performed legal services during that month, one would certainly expect that Mr. Davis would have sent an invoice, showing that he was deducting his fees from my retainer for the month of April 2025. Instead, on June 2, 2025, Mr. Davis emailed a laundry list of services he claimed he performed, deducting more than $3000.00 of my $4000.00 retainer. Prior to sending the invoice in June, and AFTER I terminated his services, he sent several emails to me, giving his legal opinion of the case. It was obvious that he did not understood the most basic claim of my complaint; I would assume it was because he hadn't read any of the materials sent to him. I filed a complaint with the OR State Bar. Mr. Davis has asked for two extensions to respond. His second explanation to the OSB for why he can't respond is that he has a "serious ****** issue" that has only "recently become apparent" and prevents him from responding. However, when calling his office immediately after being notified he was asking for another extension, on a Friday, the caller was told that Mr. Davis isn't in today but will be back on Monday. Mr. Davis can handle his workload but his "issue" prevents him from responding to the OSB? Complaints made against Mr. Davis are available to the public, but there is a fee. From OSB Records Request Office: "For copies of all files NOT including your own, we estimate your request will be completed in 30 business days and will cost $225.80." BEWARE!

He spent a lot of time with us and genuinely cared about the situation we found ourselves in after a terrible experience with another lawyer, Mike Davis, in Beaverton. Barry was intelligent, knowledgeable, honest, and sensitive. He took our calls and always listened to our concerns, and advised us appropriately. We continue to use Barry for other legal matters.
