We saw a healthy number of troops moved in to the area, and police checkpoints regularly outside of the Hotel Zone and outside of town. The prices were on par with what you see in American resorts, or even more expensive sometimes. Locals obviously don't hang out in the Hotel Area, instead they're in the city-city. We did stop on a recommendation of one of the people on the bus of a place to stop and eat. The area was rough, but then again I've found rougher areas in Los Angeles and survived. It was fun looking at the old buildings, the culture, and just the beautiful surroundings of the nearby beach. As night began to fall, we decided to take a taxi back.
