One of the best tours I would have to say, having done this twice. The boat ride there is comfortable, the first time there was a large group of international travelers. On my second trip, there was a large contingent of college students from an all girls school. So folks are coming because they're all eager to learn. Tip - Charge and bring your Nikon, don't make that mistake. There will be plenty of killer shots to take. I came back to learn more and for the other fun things. I do enjoy the mini bus ride and tour guide explanations for everything. You get to leave the bus at certain points so that you can walk among the ruins. Be careful - if you have uncoordinated relatives or small kids, you need to accompany them because there are no guard rails in certain places. This reminded me a little of Chitchen Itza (Yucatan Peninsula). And of course - there is a buffet lunch at the hotel which is nice. Warning - You may feel a little sluggish after this big meal as you continue to tour the island. And by the time you get back to Manila and drive home - it's an all day affair and you'll feel somewhat tired. In summary, if you're into history and can take in large amounts of information and process it accordingly this trip is for you. If you get into WW2 data points, you will really enjoy this. If you don't get into history but like a nice relaxing boat ride and tour with a huge buffet lunch - you'll have a great time nonetheless. The fresh air alone and the views will have you coming back with other touristy visitors. read more
The first time I heard about Corregidor Island was when I was about to board a boat to go there. I have to admit, I'm not exactly a history buff. That was the one class that I just couldn't get excited about. Fourth period History class mean Fourth period nappy nap time for Jamie. As I got older though, I developed an appreciation for history. I'm still not well-versed in World War 2 facts, but all the little stories that have Corregidor Island as a back drop make me feel more intrigued. For instance, the famous "I shall return" quote from General MacArthur was made on this island. Also, there was a Japanese cemetery that was found here decades later only after a picture was seen at a garage sale in the US. Interesting stuff. The tour around the island gave insight on the battles here. From seeing Battery Way and all the dilapidated barracks, all of it is quite amazing being there and realizing what happened but just a few years ago. While I wasn't really looking forward to this part of my first trip to the Philippines in ages, I am certainly glad I went. And, when I do go back to the Philippines, I can't wait to make another stop on Corregidor Island. read more
I had visited this place the last time I was in Manila, and I cannot praise this tour enough. If you love history, YOU MUST DO THIS!!!! You will never regret it!!!!!!!!! Even if you don't love history you'll still love it!! You tour a few of the batteries and the tunnel, and it left me wishing I could explore this island on my own (for me at least) since they said this island has 27 or so batteries and we only visited a select few. They have some gift shops near the end of the tour by the memorials, so be sure to pick up a few shirts and souvenirs. Nobody permanently lives on this island, except the monkeys. This place has such a huge impact in Philippine history during WWII. You will leave the tour very satisfied with the knowledge you gained and feel it was well worth your time. I really want to go again some day. read more

A very humbling site that encapsulates the struggle of WWII US and Filipino soldiers and citizens. Cavite is a rural area and several Kms from Manila, however, it is worth the hike to take in such an historic area. It was my high honor to make this visit and I would recommend it to anyone. read more

If you find that biking in Macapagal and Roxas Boulevard is getting too easy or mainstream, all you need to do is to ride a boat to Corregidor for a new experience. You might have visited the island full of history just off the coast of Manila Bay back when you were in school, but the whole thing changes when exploring it on two wheels. You can check in at the boat terminal as early as 7AM. The boat leaves the dock at 8AM and comes back at 3:45PM, so it's best to stay overnight to maximize the time. I find that the whole trip is a better and more interactive way of exploring the island. There are so many sights to see and you won't feel tired at all once you discover the different tourist attractions. It should go without saying too that the whole place acts as a pretty awesome backdrop for vanity photos of your bike. read more

There are so many things to discover in Manila during the day apart from its malls and its Corregidor. Also known at the "rock" (yes like the movie) Corregidor is a small island about 48 kilometers west of Manila located at the entrance of Manila bay. What it lacks in size, it makes up for its important role in Philippine history. This was one of the islands designated to defend Manila Bay during WWII and it has become a historical monument now, and among its many attractions is the Pacific War Memorial, the Malinta Tunnel and the Filipino Heroes Memorial. It's not very hard to come here and we were able to purchase our tickets from Magsaysay Lines in a matter of minutes. The ferry took an hour and a half and was clean and comfortable. I have no complaints about this place except that I wish I had seen it sooner. Expect a grand history lesson when you come here. You will leave the island with so much more. read more

Back when I was in high school, we had a field trip to Corregidor for our Social Sciences class. There are very few islands as historical significant and eventful as Corregidor, and its location just an hour away from Manila makes it a very easy place to visit. While there, we explored the bunkers, tunnels and artillery sites that littered the island. Back then, digital cameras weren't common yet, and I had an old film camera on hand. I took photos for our report on the island, and one of the slides turned up something strange: a man in white with a white hat standing alone among the battered walls. No one in our school wore all white, or even a hat, and it became somewhat of a controversial picture in the days before photoshop. Unfortunately, my mom misplaced the photograph after it was returned to me, yet my friends and I still remember the picture to this day. It's an eerie place full of history, and anyone with an interest in World War 2 should make it a priority. read more

Back in college, my photography class was asked to go to a picturesque location to take photos in. My class was quite adventurous and decided to go to an island never before visited by a photography class - Corregidor. I was excited yet a little anxious about going because of the many stories that I have heard about the place. Stories shared by friends weren't enough, history books about Corregidor did not help as well. With so much history behind the island, you wouldn't help but wonder about the place. Everything went smoothly during our entire trip, with accommodating people, an exciting island tour, and the best company. It was surely a school trip I would never forget. To tell you the truth, the thrill about knowing stories of what had happened to this place added a sense of mystery. Not knowing what to expect when you turn a corner adds to the suspense. It's an island only for those who dare. read more
