An older man was mopping, and when we walked toward the chips and drinks, he told us it was fine to go ahead. While my husband was looking for his chips, the employee suddenly told him "hurry, hurry." My husband doesn't speak English, and he didn't understand what was going on.When I asked the employee what the problem was, he completely ignored me and gave my husband dirty looks. He refused to speak to me, look at me, or explain why he was talking to us like that.We ended up leaving immediately because the attitude and disrespect were unbelievable. Just a heads up to others the employees here are extremely rude and seem to treat customers differently based on language or appearance.

She saw some hair bands that she liked and the cashier gave her a little sucker because she was so polite to him. They were cleaning when I walked in and the place looks like they clean it all the time. Unlike a lot of gas stations I thought the prices were very reasonable.

It has that convenience store ambiance, florescent lights, slightly stale air, desperate for a makeover and a deep clean. The clerks make nice enough conversation, though you still have to sign your receipt under $25, annoying. ^_^

I have been coming here for years. They have recently changed ownership, and no longer play music…read morein the store. I have many memories of hearing an old song when going to get a case of beer. The new owners don't play music in the store, and the employees aren't as friendly. Many items are mislabeled, and you have to make sure they ring you up with the right price. Maybe this is just because they are new at owning a business. Some things are a bit overpriced. On a positive note, it's in a good location.

This place is family-owned, not a chain, & the best part: the employees are awesome & always get to know the regulars. Whenever I visit DeKalb I make sure that I pick up my alcoholic necessities at American. Prices are competitive compared to other local DeKalb shops & I am a BIG FAN of supporting family-owned local businesses like American Liquors. If you can drink it... you'll find it at American.
