1 star for cleanliness. The staff are extremely…read morecondescending and down right rude. Think they all took a page from Wednesday Adams' gloom stare. I get it, the staff deals with a regular community that may need extra guidance and patience, which gets repetitive, but there is absolutely no excuse for the patronizing tone and ice cold atmosphere. If you can't deal with the extra guidance and patience then GET ANOTHER JOB, I'll take your job. I was recommended to look into this by someone and when I jumped on their website site Wednesday evening, I saw they had a "Transitional employment opportunities", which is what I am looking for. They had orientation on Thursday morning, so I went. A few minutes into it, I learned that the "Transitional employment opportunities" were for "very rare cases" and they required a lot of steps before they would even consider if you would fall into that very rare case. I have all the other tools already. And they make no exceptions on skipping any steps. I asked for my sign-up sheet back and instead of maybe asking why, I was no longer interested, I saw up the nose of the staff. Without a "Sorry"..."Wish you the best" or even a "Bye" Again, extremely rude staff. So on top of the extremely rude staff, if you already have a resume and were just looking for help with transitional employment opportunities - I recommended staying clear of here, not worth your time. If you go, orientation is a good couple of hours. And they take your picture. So plan ahead.

We recently flew in 30 people from all across the country (plus six locals) for a company meeting,…read morefor which my boss wanted to incorporate a beach cleanup. I reached out to Heal the Bay, who was happy to assist us - we ended up opting for their Suits on the Sand program (sponsorship required), wherein they hosted us for two hours: after a fun icebreaker, we were given an informative talk about the environment and how our trash ends up on the country's beaches (even when not left by beachgoers), after which we were divided into groups and sent on our merry way. The cleanup ended with us bringing back our respective hauls, having them weighed, and the winning team collecting an award (since our group is naturally very competitive, this was right in everyone's wheelhouse). Then it was time for a little trash talk before we wrapped up. :) Antonio was awesome in the runup to our event, and extremely patient with me as I navigated my company's systems to make this possible, and the ladies who actually hosted the cleanup were friendly, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable. Our team LOVED the time on the beach, and that it was active - and actively giving back. Rave reviews from all. If anyone reading this is looking for a unique teambuilding service project for their organization, I highly recommend reaching out to Heal the Bay - and if you're interested in an accompanying "after-party" picnic, please see my other reviews!

They do good work! Volunteer if you can. Bring your own gardening gloves, bag and water container.... (and don't forget to bring your consent form they usually send it via email a few days before) spend as long as you like and tally the trash you pick up. Then turn in the tally sheet and your bag of trash at check in. They go thru the trash to see what can be recycled. I met some real cool people who care about doing something good for the enviro and networked for nursing school!

Santa Monica Courthouse

Well, this week's TO DO is DONE :))) I received a "camera"…read moreticket early February, and "gloominated" over it for several months. I wanted to fight it, but I guess every picture tells a story, don't it??? So, after googling best times to go here, I threw all caution to the wind and drove over to Santa Monica. I parked a good half mile away to get my steps in and got into the courthouse around 10:15 AM anyway after going through a safety check I was told to walk down the hall and I could go pay it. There was nobody on line and the lovely fellow behind the counter couldn't have been kinder and easier going. Boom done! I cannot believe how Angelenos drive these days... rolling stops ( they don't) and breaking so many laws and regulations including speeding, cutting one another off, left turns from right side of the road... oh I could go on and on... However, I chose to pay and go to Traffic School so I don't get any points on my license. My tip is: don't go first thing in the morning to pay a ticket...wait until after 10a or go early afternoon. There's plenty of parking on the street. The walk will do everybody good if you park a little further away and get your steps in IMHO!!! ;))) I am glad I went for sure! And the experience was great! PS Mondays and Fridays are always more busy vs mid-week!!!

I observed Julio interact with a dozen+ Courthouse staff and fellow Officers for well-over 30 minutes. His demeanor was so warm, encouraging, playful, sincere, engaging and supportive, I couldn't help but go up to him and share my thoughts of his powerfully positive energy. We had a wonderful conversation for 5 minutes. I walked away from our talk with a grin from ear-to-ear. This guy IS the REAL DEAL - The CONSUMMATE Professional. Michael. Let's now talk about him... There's a Customer Service gent named Michael who works the Traffic Ticket Window. I visited this Office/Window several weeks prior to my (traffic) Court Date. My experience was great. Michael was patient with me and answered all my silly questions. He provided me with pertinent feedback and made some very helpful suggestions. He was thoughtful, patient and fun to talk to. Nice work Michael! Then there was "The Judge". I wish I had her name. She was a stand-in, covering the regular Judge on Tuesday, 12/30. This lady was witty, fun, high-energy, grounded and just down-right sweet. Although she didn't have a Southern drawl, she certainly had the hospitality of a Woman of the South. I Highly Recommend NOT getting a ticket, but if you have to appear in Court.... ...I would HIGHLY Recommend the Santa Monica Courthouse :) Keep up the fantastic work, ya'll Sincerely,
