I came to Dr. Richter on the advice of a friend just over a year ago when I left my doctor in Manhattan who had far too many patients in his large group practice to notice that I was actually far more ill than he had diagnosed. Dr. Richter, a rare solo practitioner in Rego Park, recommended a battery of tests that my other doctor had not, and unfortunately, the diagnosis was bladder cancer. They told me they can only see me if i paid all my deductible already. When i told them i did met all my deductible they did not believe me and insist to call the insurance first but since it was a sunday they could not reach the insurance so they told me to leave. I have united healthcare and majority of health care providers take my insurance so i could not believe what was happening. Then the receptionist told me they just want to see if i have a "community plan", i dont even know what that is and I just did a google and saw it is plan for people on medicaid...i dont know why they would think that...I got the feeling they are worry I cannot pay them which is so insulting to me. I do not recommend this place at all.
