We learned how to play a traditional Irish drum, learned traditional Irish dancing, made soda bread from scratch, ate said soda bread with soup and other items at the end of the day. We also went down to the bog and cut turf and learned about the importance it plays on the ecosystem, milked a cow, watched the farmer herd his sheep and played a game of Hurley. At the end of the day, after the meal we listened and joined in to traditional Irish music. Being an international student it was a fantastic experience and everyone from the group loved the trip!

I can't say too much or I will give it away, just remember to wear comfy shoes, warm clothes and prepare to be scared. Lots of frights and "Oh No" moments, so if you love horror or Halloween I highly recommend it! Great way to spend an evening and well worth the bit of a trip outside the pale.

I used to go to a fruit picking place near Lusk, which has since closed so we decided to find somewhere new: the only place we could source was Lamberts Fruit Farm. Near Rathfarnham/the Merry Ploughboy Pub, Lamberts is really easy to find - although you do have to drive down some very suspect 'roads' i.e. country lanes that you could barely fit a bike down. Be warned if you're driving something bigger than mymy baby Opel! Once there, you are given buckets and free to pick as you like! Pricing is done by weight with raspberries and tayberries [didn't know what these were but they taste like perfume/pot pourri!] at a low price level and strawberries at a higher price point. We got a near full bucket of raspberries for €8, a lot cheaper than a supermarket, and had really good fun walking around the fields in the process. This place would be great for families, the kids around us seemed to love it, and us two big kids were in our element as well. Not a bad Sunday afternoon!

We were running out of time on our hunt to find them when I realized, 'I've got my trusty guidebook!!' And that's how we ended up here. It was 12 Euros for 6 oysters and a glass of wine. Since there were four of us, the lady was nice enough to give us 4 cups of wine (yes, plastic cups - it's a farmer's market, what do you expect!) They even threw in an extra oyster! SO FRESH! SO BIG! (cue that's-what-she-said joke). Compared to NYC oysters, these babies looked like they were on steroids! They also have this dipping sauce (had onions and was really vinegar-y, but good. But if you don't like the sour, you should just take the oyster straight.) Didn't eat anything else from other stands because we just had lunch. However, I believe they had shish kebabs, crepes, and bread. Oh and FYI - Sheridans Cheesemongers was there (saw this place on Anthony Bourdain when he went to Dublin so thought this might be worth mentioning). Definitely check out this farmer's market!
