Probably fair if you have extremely short hair and want a shape-up, but if it is of medium length or longer, PLEASE do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I had medium/longish hair, and the back was getting a little too messy on the bottom. I figured it would be a simple trim, so I went here. I told my barber, Ricky, to take 1-2 inches off the top and shorten the back. He asked if I wanted a line or to keep it natural - I told him to keep it natural. I didn't want the shape-up look. He gave me one of the worst haircuts I have ever received. I told him to take 1-2 inches off the top. He took FOUR, making the top and sides the same damn length. As for the back, halfway down , my hair just ends. No taper, no graduation-- it just goes from medium-length to a 1 with a fucking shape-up. The sides are completely uneven. he did nothing I asked for. This isn't a translation problem, either. I spoke to him in Spanish. I need to go to another barber to fix this. Never, ever, ever coming here again.

Busy but friendly barber shop in Manhattan Valley where regular haircuts for men start at just $15. It's cash-only, but there's an ATM inside. I usually head to the row of chairs on the right because that's where Daniel and the other old-timers are. I can practice my Spanish, get a good cut, and listen to that bachata on the radio. Now that I've embraced the bald, I really don't need anything else.

I dropped in w my four year old son to get a quick cut. We were seated right away and the barber gave him a thorough hair cut. It cost me $13 which I thought was cheap considering the time spent on the cut. There were 8-10 barbers all giving cuts, shaves and beard trims. Spanish is definitely the language of choice but it's NYC so everyone spoke English as well. We will definitely return.

The morning of, I was looking for a last minute appointment and was able to get one here in 30 minutes which was perfect because it was a 25 minute walk away from my Airbnb. I was a bit nervous because I have colored hair and it's my first time getting a cut outside of my area. The cut was amazing! There's a lot more technique that goes into the cut than in the Bay Area. I went to Haim and he did not disappointment. Professional, talkative, and asked many questions to ensure I liked my haircut. It was fun to go to him and was excited throughout the haircut. I also stopped by the shop and asked to talk to him (he was not there). He has offered to fire the person and/or compensate me with $60 + a free haircut if I change the review (photos attached). Giving me a bald spot for fun is way too unprofessional for me to consider changing the review. I have offered to point out the guy to Arthur, but I am not asking for the guy to be fired. One of these guys gave me a bald spot because he thought it was funny. He thought I didn't notice and gave me a fist bump with a slight smirk on his face after the haircut. After the haircut my girlfriend told me I was balding, and I instantly realized what happened. The hair grew back to normal in a few weeks. At least one of the guys working here is an unprofessional jerk, so l'd recommend going somewhere else.

Do not go here. They even have 50% tip as the first option after paying, very distrustful, very unprofessional, and very inexperienced (it took her an hour to do my haircut and 3 shampoos)

Made an account just for this. Reviews made me excited to try this place after failing to find…read morestylists in my area for men's wavy long hair (Shoulder to mid back long.) But most of those glowing reviews are pre-covid. I don't know if a lot of their stylists left but there's a notable lack of reviews post-covid. They're kind and the space feels lux and quiet. Problem is communication, went multiple times feeling very whelmed and changed stylist every time. After my third time I think I'm done, I've shown pictures and discussed with them what I wanted but they can never seem to get it right. Instead they default to a generic taper short off the sides and medium top cut, but then why tell me you can do the cut or even have experience with it? Is it my head shape? Face? Am I too ugly? Communicate that to me before you decide to just ignore the conversation we had and just free style. It's frustrating because I am growing out my hair for this cut and they do what they want. I don't want to be rude and stop you mid cut but then why am I paying so much just to be left unsatisfied? Most of the men leaving the place have the same exact cut. Anything longer than a short to medium cut is a no go, those cuts look clean and nice. Kept going in with shoulder length wavy hair just to get butchered every time.

Very old school barber shop. I got a shave and a haircut from Jerry and it was very well done…read more Nothing fancy here, but everything Jerry did was thorough and expertly done. I did call in advance to make sure he had time, he asked if I could stop by in 30 minutes, which was no problem. I was able to walk right in and get my shave and haircut.

One jackass who charges $100 for a haircut talked about how a real barber (such as himself of course) only does 4 haircuts an hour. Really 4 haircuts an hour? That's 15 minutes each, which after getting in and out of the chair and prepping and combing equals about 10 minutes. You might as well go to supercuts to get that sort of crap haircut. Which brings me to Jerry's! If you are in the city and want to spend 1/3 of what some hipster doofus barber will charge you then check out Jerry's! I used to go to Jerry's consistently when I first started working in midtown but started going to a place in jersey near where I lived at the time, though I still pop over once in a while. If you are in midtown and want a good haircut, this is the place (great if you work in midtown and the boss is giving you crap about your shaggy hair). Mostly older barbers who can do a variety of styles (though I doubt they do shaggy hipster/bieber cuts). They give a very thorough, careful haircut. Usually lasts at least 25 minutes, since they actually take their time and go over it more than once to make sure it is perfect. It is pricey around $30ish I believe, but hey, its in midtown. And of course they use a straight razor, and less importantly but still really cool, they have an ancient hand cranked hot towel machine! P.S. Its very difficult to find (buried in the basement) so ask for directions at one of the rock center info desks located at each entrance.
