In the waiting room they gave her a small stuffed animal to greet her. Then they had plenty of things to distract her prior to meeting our hygienist Brittany. If I could give Brittany 10000 stars I would. She was so calm with my daughter and flexible with making my daughter feel as comfortable as possible. She took her time introducing every piece of equipment to her and making it as fun and relaxing as possible for her. My daughter left with a huge weight off her shoulders and I think she shed 1 layer of- the dentist isn't that scary view off!

This might be a rare incident but I feel it's worth posting…read more My son's palette expander broke off in his mouth and a long piece went inside his body. The X-ray found it in his stomach, where it still is. He has been to the ER twice and is terrified of surgery. The staff was apologetic and removed the device after it broke off. But before that, they called to ask if my son could come in at 10:45 instead of first thing, since he didn't have an appointment. I keep thinking about that and how it made us all feel. I know accidents happen and there was no guarantee it wouldn't break. We did assume that would never happen, though. I strongly recommend bringing your kiddo to a place that takes an emergency like this as seriously as we do.

At our recent cleaning visit we did X-rays and was told that our child had 4 cavities AND needed a crown!! Now she brushes her own teeth and prob doesn't do the best job but this seemed a little excessive so I brought her to my own dentist for a second opinion. When I showed him the X-rays he didn't see anything that needed a crown.... When I pointed it out he said "oh that's a filling.... Maybe she isn't comfortable with fillings so she prefers crowns but I would definitely do a filling there..." then I ask about the 4 others and he said he only saw one other spot that we could either watch and wait or do a small filling now.... Otherwise it was just the shading!! We will be doing the filling with him and then finding a new pediatric dentist! Dr Connors was always great but this new company is in my opinion sketchy. This was just our recent experience but I had previously heard things about Smileland so I wanted to to share.

Everytime she took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure and address my concerns. Since this dental practice dropped Blue Cross insurance, I had to leave them to look for another pediatric dentist and a orthodontist for my child. I am truly sad to leave this practice. The combination of attentive staff, skilled professionals, and a welcoming atmosphere made a truly pleasant dental appointment for my son throughout the years. I had a tooth issue that was concerning me and called the office this morning. Heather (front desk) checked my records and immediately put me at ease and had me come right in. Dr. Messina and her assistant gave me a thorough exam and fully explained everything they were going to do. I later learned that I was one of four patients that day to schedule an emergency visit that morning and it wasn't even 10:00 yet I never felt rushed. Dr. Messina is gentle, insightful and caring. I cannot say enough good about Dr. Luciana Petto Messina and the entire staff. Dr. Petto Messina is highly competent, compassionate, and considerate. When my orthodontist's office closed recently and I needed help quickly, she went FAR above & beyond to help out. But I was a happy patient for years before that. And the high praise goes for the office manager, hygienists (especially Marie!), and dental assistants. I want the people working on my teeth to be perfectionists, and that's what I've found at Songbird Dental. They're all exceptionally personable and get along well. The camaraderie make for a welcoming & comfortable atmosphere. Why does my hygienist need to know details about diseases/conditions they've never had training for?
