About a year ago they raised their prices so they are now equivalent in price to other nurseries. There are two greenhouses filled with plants plus a small outdoor area with more plants. The reason we go to Houghton's is their hanging baskets of flowers. Whoever designs them really has an eye for putting the right flowers and colors together. We usually buy two a year and they bloom all summer. As I said Houghton's is only open until July. When they close they let the employees take home the plants they want. We heard rumors that they also donate a batch of flowers to local nursing homes in July. Parking can be a problem on weekends and they have a parking attendant who directs you to open spots. Be on the lookout for him as you approach the business.

It's a Re-purposed, Up-Cycled Home Decor and Gift store. I travel all over the state for work and this is by far the Best Re-purpose store I have ever been to. There tag line is "Turning Junk into Gems", and it's true. The last time I was there they had an old vintage Maytag Washer machine that they turned into a sink with a faucet that could be moved to accommodate any of your washing needs. They also turned an old steamer trunk into a love seat and a drawer into an ottoman. The creativity is abundant in this store. Since most of the stuff in the store is one-of-a-kind, their inventory is always changing. So every time I stop in, it's like my first time. This is Must Shop for every local and tourist alike. There is so much to take in, I suggest you pack a lunch ;) Oh yeah and they also offer Temporary (fake) Airbrush Tattoos for all you chickens out there. They look just like the real ones but without the pain or regret. I've gotten several, I'm fake TAT addicted. LOL. The Owner calls the Rusty Bucket her mutt shop, a little mix of everything. Local furniture repair stores we consulted all agreed that the crack was due to manufacture defects (the design, the chosen wood, and/or the way of crafting). We then contacted Lyndon, but were surprised to know that there is only 2-year manufacturer warranty with Lyndon furniture, even though Lyndon website claims: "We are committed to quality and customer satisfaction, and we believe that you and your family will be proud to own our furniture for generations to come." The price for solid wood furniture from Lyndon may be a little less expensive compared to other manufacturers, but it is too expensive considering the life time of their furniture is only about two years. We love solid wood furniture, but will definitely NOT buy any or recommend anyone to buy Lyndon furniture.

David constructed his first woodworking shop in Lyndon, VT from timber he cut from the family farm and had milled locally. Over the years, seven additions have been built on the original building and two more factories have been added, bringing the total to over 140,000 square feet of production space and employing approximately 80 crafts people. In 2000, David was recognized as the "Vermont Small Business Person of the Year" by the Small Business Association. An honor which he says belongs as much to his employees as to himself.
