She and her husband were beyond hospitable with smiles and time for everyone. The campground is immaculate and they have spared no detail. It had the best entertainment for our three year old Granddaughter. The bounce pad, pool, miniature golf and playground were a big hit. She was the tiny dancer to the live music. What a place. They have pretty scenery by most of the weekender sites, but the river is full of algea and not…read moregood for swimming, although our dogs did like it. There is electric and water, but no sewer, so you have to coserve to make sure you dont fill your tanks too quick, but they do have a honey-wagon that they can empty you if needed. The bathrooms were clean. You have to pay $.25 for a 4 miqnute shower. That was annoying because the machine to put coins in is on the wall across from the showers, so you have to go out naked to put another coin in, if needed, or waste the time to put a towel on. It wouldn't have been horrible, but there always seemed to be kids playing in the bathroom, so that made it uncomfortable. Oh, and you have to get quarters before the office closes, or u r not showering! They have a nice playground. They have a jumping pillow and mini golf for an extra fee. There is a small game room, but we didn't look very closely at what they had. There is a pool that they claim is heated at 80 degrees. It wasn't too cold, but it sure wasn't 80 degrees! We would camp there again if we were going to that area. Only complaint is the office and the pool close way too early.

Stayed in the Commanche, which in the photo shows a nice steel door. When we arrived, there was a rodent chewed bottom wood door, that lead to a cabin that had obviously not be cleaned for a long time. Started our trip by sanitizing our dishes as the sign in the kitchen said we needed to do, and after looking in the dishes it was obvious they needed to be cleaned. Opened the door to get a dish rag... mouse droppings. Okay, it happens. Got unpacked went out on the lake to a neighboring establishment for fish, then went fishing until dark, back to cabin, bonfire, bedtime....... you guessed it rodent holes and mouse droppings. Didn't even provide fresh bedding. Husband wanted to leave immediately, I didn't want to drive home and have to come back, so we "slept" in the living room with blankets we had in our vehicles, made it through the night and packed up. Why would you give away a free 2 night stay, and stick guests in such filth!! Thought the give away would have been meant for good advertising. With location, we definitely would have been back.But no longer..........

We…read morehad heavy rain Friday evening but were prepared so actually enjoyed drifting off to sleep with it. Woke up to all our belongings still dry and the sun drying things up. We ended up hiking around 6 miles of the park. Tried our hand at fishing off the fishing pier but no luck, lots of algae bloom. The lake was a lot clearer but we didn't have a boat or canoe. The bathrooms were super clean and updated. Showers are free and well lit. Will definitely be back!

It was a beautiful trail, unpaved (my preference), but kept up. Not all the trails were marked, so either get a map at the front gate or take a picture of one you find. We also took a couple other trails - all enjoyable. The bathrooms are pit toilets in a decent setting (I've definitely experienced worse). Because of the size, beauty, and diverse offerings, it would be easy to spend a day at this park. Day parking fee is $11.

They do charge for parking passes. We were prepared to pay $16 for our non- resident vehicle ( they do have the prices on their website). To our delight, since we were attending a family reunion at the only covered pavilion on the island, our parking was just $5! Plenty of parking, bathrooms aren't a far walk fe the pavilion (& they're clean!). Playground is adequate. The water area for play seemed a lot bigger when I was younger & attended reunions here. Water was calm but gorgeous!

The campsites are all pretty flat (perfect for pitching tents) and all have fire pits with good moveable cooking grates. Both nights we were there had a good breeze so the bugs were non-existent which was amazing considering we camped right next to the water. The park also has several short well-maintained trails to explore . Will definitely be returning.
