Our two guides were delightful, and very knowledgeable about the biology, geology, and history of the region. You can bring your own wetwear and snorkeling gear (some type of neoprene wetsuit is best; 1.5 - 2mm was appropriate for the weather and water temp on our visit, you might need 3mm at the coldest part of the year), or rent a wetsuit (quite cheaply) and borrow a snorkel and mask for free.

What makes this trip unique is that Alan is a genuine Marine Biologist who has a true love of the ocean and all its life that it offers. We left the pier around 10am. It took an hour and 45 minutes to arrive at the SeaLion rookery cause along the way they stop and show you local bird life and other points of interest. The SeaLion area is amazing. The sights and sounds of the beautiful animals in there native habitat is humbling. THAN you get to snorkel up close and they are very playful. Like puppies. One even kissed my wrist. About 45 minutes there. After we motor to a private beach where they spread out a tasty lunch(Homemade Ceviche!). After lunch, an hour of snorkelling in a protected cove. We had time to stop at a deeper cove to freedive for about 15 mins. Than the ride back to the dock. I have heard said many times that if you love what you do for a living, it's not a job. I really witnessed that today with Alberto and Alan. Just a GREAT tour that I won't ever forget. Just a word of caution, the area where the SeaLions reside had a very strong undercurrent today. I had to really kick with flippers a little bit to get away from boat. I was told this is unusual for this area. With a life vest on, It wasn't that big of a deal, but You should be ready for it. I can't wait to come back next year to swim with Whale Sharks. It will definitely be with Alan and Alberto.

I enjoyed the humpback whale expedition which came with a free lunch and drinks. We saw a lot of action not terribly far from shore. They also offered a photo workshop. Believe this is more useful for folks that use a digital camera as opposed to a cell phone camera although she gave some tips on that as well. Both were complimentary (on March 11). There was nothing wrong with the trip per se but there are many parts that occurred to get you to where you end up finally. Everyone was nice but I feel like there is a drop in communication as there are too many parts of the wheel. The charter flight was about 2 and half hours so make sure you use the restroom. There is NO bathroom on board. Also for clothing, please make sure you are covered from head to toe. This is NO joke. The weather may seem hot as hades on shore except at night, prepare for windy freezing conditions (they provided a heater AND heating blankets). When you are on the panga and travelling fast, it will be windy and probably cold. However, when you are waiting for some action, you are under the sun in water. Do NOT wear shorts and bring a cover-up for your face as well. Caps/hats are all good ideas. They offered the gaiters and a wind breaker. I commend the luxury tent. This is really what you are paying for. The fact that you get your own porta-potty and running water was fantastic. The shower had more settings than my own shower. They also offer room service so if you don't want it, please let them know. The food was decent as well. Breakfast is buffet and there is a person who can make you an omelet and the lunch and dinner are plated. Honestly, unless you enjoy the feeling of a 5 star hotel, don't think it was necessary. You honestly don't have that much time to eat during this trip. The time is literally spent getting ready for and the whale excursions. There's a volleyball net, soccer goals & bikes for you but it was so windy and honestly not much time to do any of that. Happy Hour had a different "snack" each day (oyster one was awesome) but no alcohol is free except for the one you get when you get off the plane. The food and service was wonderful. Was every dish a 5? No, but you are in a place where they have to import everything. There is also a nightly 30 minute? presentation given by some of your tour leaders. This tour company had the furthest spot (closest to the airport) so you spend a good 30 minutes (travelling quite fast) to get to the area where the whales are (and don't forget the return trip). We saw plenty of whales but everyone is there to "touch" a whale. The last day there, all the boats in our area did manage to touch one and our boat collided with another panga. Luckily all, including the whale, were unharmed but needless to say, our panga did NOT touch one. It also sounded like the whales were not coming to that area as much anymore. In fact, some were spotted in Cabo. Pro Tips: You should ask they rotate the people on the boats so you're not always with the same captain or panga. If you don't mind sharing a central porta-potty, pick a tour company that is closer to the area where they gather. You will have more free time. Don't drink any diuretics before the panga rides as bathrooms are limited to nature (although some boats do have a bathroom). Pangas that are lower might be better because than when you reach over the boat, you're closer to the surface of the water and don't have to bend over as much. This is a desert area so keep that in mind when packing.

The weather is fairly moderate at that point. Chilly at night and warm during the day. But be prepared for the night time wind. Bring earplugs as the tents slap against the poles most of the night. Not Baja's fault as you can't control the weather. Also, food is decent but keep in mind this is a camp in the middle of a national park so it is not high end resort food. Very good considering the remoteness of the location. Also having your own en-suite bathroom was everything!! No cold walks to the bathroom during the night.

Miguel got us all set up with our equipment, then off we went with our delightful boat captain, Milton, and water guide, Javier. Each was helpful, friendly, and worked to provide us with a most special day. We spent so much time up VERY close with the whale sharks and they gave us the opportunity for many dives. Javier Took a GoPro video of the whole experience and emailed it to us. Milton's love and concern for the creatures, as a marine biologist, was evident. I can't recommend this trip and company enough. Thank you for a wonderful day!

I worked with Trevor at Baja Connections for her arrangements, and I can't say enough good things about the level of service provided. My client arranged private dives, and Baha Connections picked her up at her hotel outside of town in the boat, rather than her needing to come into town each day. They had a great positive attitude, and were able to work with all the detailed and unique requests my client had. Nothing was too difficult for Trevor. The best part was that she LOVED the trip and LOVED the diving. Baja Connections took great care of her while there, and made sure she experienced the best diving in the area. She can't stop talking about them or the diving. I would absolutely work with Baja Connections again, and would definitely consider doing so in other parts of Mexico and beyond - I understand they are creating a program that would combine diving in the Yucatan with diving in La Paz. Trevor has worked in diving all over the world and has an extensive knowledge worth tapping into. Net/net - if you are looking at diving, or any other activities in the area, Baja Connections is a great choice.

Please find the following list of services not granted by your unprepared company: I.- We lost 4:30 hours sailing to the SeaWolves nest as agreed, just to learn that you "forgot" to pay authorities fees to swim there. We had planned a day charter that included 1 vegetarian. We discussed at least two stops to include snorkeling. We spoke with Carlos just prior to departure and he confirmed the itinerary. While we had a nice cruise, we only stopped once and no snorkeling. When we asked, the crew stated they were never told of any specific asks. Don't get me started on the food! The pictures on FB to no represent actual reality. It shows fresh fruit plates, ceviche, sashimi and other dished. We asked for vegetarian food and we got one bowl of guacamole. No tacos only ceviche. We have taken several other charters out of La Paz (for the same price) that included a chef preparing fresh meals to include fish tacos, ceviche, bean and cheese quesadillas, and fruit platters. This was definitely wanting. We brought our issues to Carlos his only response was his team did everything promised, which was not a true statement. I would have rated 1 but the crew tried so hard and any day at sea is terrific. Lots of other yachts to choose from in the future!
