She has a great sense for choosing music that is enjoyable while still challenging our daughter and helping her grow. I especially appreciate how she knows when to encourage her to move forward and when not to push too hard. She has helped our daughter build her skills and confidence without ever making piano feel stressful or overwhelming. Most importantly, she is kind, patient, and genuinely cares about our daughter. I would say this place is more for those with experience since you are pressured to perform. I am sure all the 5 star reviewers have had lessons before coming here. I started coming here in early October and left 3 weeks later. When I came, we had to perform within 2 months. We were all expected to know 4 songs within 3 lessons (6 hours, since each lesson lasts 2 hours). I can't learn how to have long conversations in a different language in this small amount of time. I did not care for Todd's teaching methods. I could not bear to see how he was talking to another student who I will call S for privacy reasons. I felt pretty bad for S. Like, I do agree that his performance was average, but you need more time to learn than just 2 months! He was also making things seem like a serious problem, which can easily crush dreams. I felt like I was auditioning for AGT or something. The ear buds they give you did not look like they get cleaned at all (as another reviewer said), which disgusted me, so I decided to use their huge headphones instead. They have a variety of colors and designs, but they only have one size. They do not look like they are for kids. I saw this little 4-year-old girl wearing those headphones with the unicorn pattern, and the ear protection part was below her ears, which is dangerous. The one positive thing was my private lessons with Charlotte. I enjoyed them more than being with the group and Todd. I would speak highly of her with my parents. She was very understanding of my feelings. I'm sad I cannot come for lessons with her, but I am also now taking voice lessons at a different place.

I started taking West African Drumming (Djembe) lessons from David Hilal recently…read more I was nervous at first. I wondered how many people would be there and if I'd be out-of-place as a beginner. But, from the first day, David and my fellow students made me feel welcome. Even when I got pissy and frustrated during my second lesson, David helped me through it. David has a way of teaching that allows me to participate as a beginner while he assigns more complex rhythms to intermediate and advanced students. Some of us play Djembe while an advanced student accompanies us on dun duns. During the lesson, David will allow us to record specific rhythms or exercises he wants us to practice. When he gave us "hand over hand" exercises, my skill started to improve very quickly. It isn't totally easy, but it is TOTALLY FUN! RECOMMEND.

The voice teacher and the piano teacher use two different phone numbers to text me, and I never realized that they are the same studio until I got there. The voice teacher even saw me and recognized me. I had nothing to hide that I was there before. Other studios that offer trials often offer one trial for each kind. It makes more sense. If this studio doesn't allow more than one trial for different kinds of music, they should mention it at the beginning but not to blame potential client.
