Phew! What a workout. I love coming here for my weekly Pilates class. The instructors are very encouraging and push you to do your best. The nice thing about Pilates is that you can workout at your own pace, and the music keeps you moving. If you have any questions or are having trouble with a specific exercise, the instructors are attentive and come to help you. I like that the instructor also host a weekly walking club, which is a great passive exercise. Love coming here! read more

Core Collective is an inclusive pilates class that makes me feel at home and comfortable working out. I wanted to focus on stretching and balance and so I was looking at other pilates classes. I found this one online and fell in love. I enjoy the enthusiasm that the instructors bring especially Lauren! They are super helpful with the form and educate us on our anatomy. I highly recommend this class and tip the first class is free to see if you vibe with it. But be careful after my first class I signed up on the spot and still going today. I had never tried reformer Pilates but I've done yoga for the past 8 years of my life. I just moved to Ann Arbor 6 months ago and was looking for something that sculpted and toned as well as had some cardio but not like a heavy weight-lifting type of work out. Then I tried a free first class at Core Collective, a Fundamentals class that taught the basic movements of the reformer Pilates and I definitely wanted more. Lauren helped me book a trial week (3 classes for $29) and I tried a variety: classic, cardio, core jump and I loved the different focuses of each class. Jump and cardio had more cardio and classic had more toning but definitely not exclusively. I am officially hooked because I don't ever dread going to a class here, the instructors Lauren and Emily are so so warm and it feels like a close knit family, non-judgmental environment. I do the 8 classes/$118 membership and honestly, I am getting more classes in than I used to with an unlimited monthly yoga membership. I'm so glad I found them! read more

Came here in Jan '21 when I was dealing with some chronic low back and SI joint pain. Nothing would fix it. I'm a figure skater and my PT recommended I try pilates for core strength. That was about a year ago and I'm still attending and feeling stronger than I ever have in my life. My back pain is greatly reduced and I know it's from attending pilates regularly. This place is wonderful and all of the instructors are so kind and supportive. I am not a strong person and need to make modifications often and it's no issue to do that. Going to Pilates here is the best part of my day! I am so impressed with not only the instructors, but also the results. I feel so much better physically and mentally and I have totally leaned out. The only thing I've changed is adding 2 classes a week. I'm surprised I fell in love with Pilates so much because as an experienced weight lifter I wasn't sure it would be what I wanted, but all I say is wow, it's amazing. I was living and working in nyc before coming to AA for grad school and I was in desperate need of a reformer Pilates studio when, alas, I found Core Collective :) Every class leaves me feeling like I got a great workout in and it always amazes me how each class targets a different muscle I didn't know I even had. I've taken classes with the owner, Emily, she's super nice and so knowledgeable, and I've also taken lots of classes with Lauren and Lindsey. All the instructors here are extremely friendly and supportive. Each class is different, so I never get bored but I also always get a good workout in. As someone who struggles to find the time and motivation to exercise amidst a busy schedule, I have been enjoying these smaller-sized classes that aren't too much commitment (time-wise) and keep you accountable on your fitness journey. Emily has been great from the start, allowing me to be flexible with scheduling. All the instructors are amazing and know how to really challenge you, no matter what stage you're at! They are adding a variety of classes to include different styles of exercising and I am excited for the new challenges! Core collective does not disappoint!!! First time to Pilates on a reformer and I love it! I have always lifted weights... heavy, due to recent injuries I have had to change my routine. I have always wanted to try reformer pilates but was too intimidated. I scheduled a 1:1 session with Emily because I didn't know if I would be able to keep up in the group classes. She is so encouraging and positive and after our session said I'd do well in the classes so I faced my fears and gave those a shot. CC is inclusive and positive and now I'm hooked. I am so happy I found Core Collective here in Ann Arbor! This is such a warm and friendly place to workout. I love the variety of classes that are offered and the instructors are all super helpful and sweet. I tend to stick with some of the more classic pilates class offerings, but they offer a really great stretch class on Wednesday evenings that is a really great way to take a moment for yourself and reset midweek. The studio also organizes a lot of fundraisers and outdoor excursions (i.e., paddle boarding) that are so much fun, and it's nice to support a small business that gives back to the community. When I started taking pilates classes at Core Collective I was very cautious. I am an older person with a lot of sports injuries and I didn't know what to expect. I quickly learned that the workouts were fantastic and Emily, Lauren and all of the other instructors that I had were very attentive. I've done a variety of workouts over the years -- ranging from HIIT to even MMA classes (VERY short-lived, thank God). My biggest hurdle is boredom with the exercises, which begets lack of motivation. Also, if I don't like what I'm doing, or I don't vibe with the studio/gym/workout, I won't waste my time. So after more than a year of not exercising due to work and COVID, I decided that now was the time to start investing in my health again. I was curious about Pilates as I heard that it would improve my core strength and posture. I wanted a place that would motivate me to stick to a regimen, and I wanted a trainer who would keep an eye on my form to minimize injury. Throughout my online research, Core Collective came up pretty consistently and with high ratings. They offered a free first class, so I signed up for it. In the most positive way, I can say that it kicked my butt. I was hooked immediately and signed up for more classes, where my butt continues to be kicked 4-5x/week. I cannot say enough good things about this studio: 1) 45 minutes -- it goes by fast! 2) variety of exercises -- I continue to be amazed by what one can do with the Pilates Reformer machine. There is emphasis on quality over quantity when performing these exercises as well. 3) variety of classes and times -- they offer more cardio or yoga-based classes. Times range from 6a-730p. 4) existence of modification -- if it compromises form, the instructors will encourage and show the class how to modify the exercise. I've never felt judged for having to do this from time to time (because everyone else is working their own butts off). 5) instructors -- all friendly and highly motivated, and will walk around the room to correct your form. There are max 11 people in a class, which makes it feel more personal. 6) vibe -- this is a BIG one for me. The studio is incredibly welcoming to everyone of all shapes, sizes, and expertise level. There is no pretension, made up anatomical explanation for the exercises, no fake spiritual taglines or forced meditation during class. The only thing I regret is not signing up earlier! The 45 minutes that I spend here, it's time spent focusing on myself and what my body can do. It's a form of meditation for me, I feel good at the end of the class, and I always look forward to the next one! read more
