Purchased 2 pair of boots at this location. I purchased the first pair on Christmas Eve 2015; a…read morepair of heels on sale. They stamped the receipt "final sale" because they were on sale - fine, I never thought I would have to return them. I purchased a second pair mid-January 2016, which were knee-high flat boots, which were on sale and again, they stamped the receipt "final sale". It so happened that the sales person had the exact same pair of boots. She stated she had them from last year and had no problems. She told me to treat the boots, attempting to sell their boot protection treatment, but I had some at home, so I didn't opt for that. I wore the flats for a total of 3 weeks when the soles cracked on both boots. I brought them back to the store on a Sunday and was told they would not exchange them or give me a refund because it was considered "wear and tear". I was asked if I treated the boots and then told the manager was not available to discuss. How can it be considered wear and tear after 3 weeks of use? A pair of boots should last more than 3 weeks. I wrote to their head office and never received a response. I called the manager and was told that the boots I purchased were "Fall or Spring" boots and were not meant to be worn outside in the cold because the soles could crack. Why would they try to sell me a protection treatment on a pair of boots that weren't meant to be worn outside in the winter? The sales person did not mention that these boots were "Fall or Spring" boots. And, why would they sell boots in the middle of the winter that were supposedly Fall boots? Even still, I wore them for only 3 weeks before they were ruined. So, I began to wear the heeled boots. After 3 weeks of continuous wear, the heel broke. I didn't even bother going back to the store. At this point, I owned the heeled boots for 2 months. This store does not stand behind the products they sell and the quality is atrocious. I brought my boots to a shoemaker and had the heels replaced on the heeled boots and the soles replaced on the flat boots for a total of $90 - as much as the original price of one pair of the boots they sell. This store got me for 2 purchases and never again.

Letellier Shoes - Mens Clarks as far as the eye can see!

Letellier Shoes sells higher end shoes that I would describe as "comfort over fashion". I mean some…read moreof the styles are cute, but comfort is the priority, fashion is secondary, lol. Brands include Mephisto, Ara, Pikolinos, Naot, Taos, Reiker, you get the picture. No sexy stilettos nor cute espadrilles here, haha. They do carry Sorels but none of the fashionable wedges or heels. And they carry Clarks, but again mostly flats or really low heels. I personally feel that the majority of their shoes are a bit "mature" looking (aka matronly, lol), but that's just my opinion. Prices are high, even when they have sales. I'd say most pairs are over $200. Service is satisfactory. Staff aren't super friendly, but not as snobby as I feared they would be. Letellier does not sell online. Right now Ottawa is in lockdown due to the Covid Pandemic, so Letellier Shoes is closed for indoor shopping, but they do have curbside pickup. Letellier Shoes was an independently owned shoe store that actually opened in Ottawa in the 1890's (!) It remained that way for 4 generations, but in 2014 it was sold to East Lake Limited, a company that owns several footwear stores across Ontario. If you like shoe stores like Solea Glebe Trotters, and Tanda Shoes, you'll like Letellier Shoes.

I found this place to have a diverse selection of shoes & boots. Since it was the end of the season there were not a lot of boots left in a size 8/8.5. I was able to get some Ugg ankle boots that did the trick. A little pricey but worth it since I still had 3 days left. Customer service was so-so, i wasn't overly impressed.

Ok, The Wholesale Outlet is a strange little place. It's in what looks like a converted barn (!)…read moreThe parking lot (which it shares with The Apple Saddlery) is unpaved and full of potholes. When you go inside, everything is really messy and it looks like a warehouse. The back of the store is really poorly lit. So you would expect really low prices and great deals, right? Well, every clothing item hovers around the $100 mark. Now they do specialize in clothing from Canadian and European designers, and many of their items are made in Canada or in a European country, so yes, the quality is higher. However, with a name like "The Wholesale Outlet" I really was expecting lower prices. In my opinion, the majority of their items are rather dowdy, unless you are in your 8th decade of life, in which case, you would be considered a fashion plate if you wore these items. HOWEVER, if you have the time and patience to sort through their stuff, you will find some lovely gems. I have only ever purchased skirts here, and only in the clearance section at the back of the store, where everything is 50% off (but poorly lit and items are tightly packed together - my arms often hurt after pulling all the items apart to look at them on the racks). Now to give you an idea of my style, I love asymmetric hem lines, over-sized buttons, and superfluous zippers, so I'm a huge fan of the skirt styles from French, German and Scandinavian designers. The sizing of items here is a little strange. Yes, some are European sizes, but even that I found not to be consistent. I'm pretty much a North American size 2 (sometimes 0), so typically a European 36 or 38 and a UK/Australian 6 or 8. However, here I've tried on a "European 40" and a "Canadian 6" and couldn't zip up either item :P So the take home message is, if you like something, disregard the sizing, just eyeball it and if it looks like it might fit, try it on. If you are under 50 years old, you will likely be the youngest person in the store. The staff here are very nice and friendly. I don't come here often, but I will pop in once in a while to check things out.

I brought with me my leather bag from #Zara Man which needed the main zipper replaced, a knife which was hand made by my father in law in Norway which had a sheath made of some pretty thick leather which needed to be stitched up but in such a way as to accommodate the knife and handle which was made of a combination of mahogany an reindeer antler, and finally what I call my "guns", which are a discreet under the arm leather set of holders for a cell phone on one side and cards, money, passport, etc on the other side which is zippered and needed to have the zipper replaced. Made by #Age, this is a piece of my attire which I have worn daily since I purchased it 4 years ago. I didn't have the cash on me to pay in advance so I told Joe that I would be back before closing to pay for the items that I dropped off. He gave me the expected wait time of one week for pickup which was perfectly reasonable for me. After returning from picking up the cash to pay him an hour later, to my delight, Joe had already hand stitched the sheath of the knife, no easy task as the leather is extremely thick and hard. The knife fit perfectly and snugly in the sheath and the stitching job was perfect with the thread matching the leather to a tee. I paid for the items and watched another satisfied customer trying on his leather shoes which Joe had stretched perfectly to fit the customer's feet. The other customer could not have been more pleased and was going to be bringing in another pair of shoes to get the soles replaced. To my delight, two days later, I received a call from Joe and he told me to come and pick up my bag and my "guns" as they were ready. Not a week later, 2 days! I immediately hopped in my car with a shoe which needed to be glued together and the knife which I wanted to have a belt loop attached to it so I could wear it while at the cottage. When I got to the shop, I had the pleasure of meeting Joe's grandson who in Joe's words was even better than him.... Joe had a shop in Toronto for 27 years prior to opening his shop here in Ottawa 6 years ago and from my experience, he is bar none the best leather worker in Ottawa by far and extremely reasonable, affordable and fair when it comes to pricing. If I could give him 10 stars, I would. In addition, the shoe which I brought in and the knife sheath which I wanted a strap for, Joe fixed on the spot for free, I didn't have to wait and I thanked him and his grandson by buying them coffee. My next visit to them will be with my 20 year old #Timberland leather shoes which need new soles and a good revitalization. I have no doubt that Joe is up to the task!

I needed a couple of spare keys cut, so I visited it yesterday. Joe repairs shoes, boots, bags, zippers, replaces watch batteries, cuts keys, has laminating services, and takes passport photos. Joe is a friendly man and stopped what he was doing as soon as I walked in and greeted me. I handed two keys to him and he quickly cut the duplicates for me. A couple of minutes later they were done, I paid him, and I was on my way. Unfortunately, when I got home I discovered one of the keys didn't work. It didn't even fit the lock. His store is only a few minutes walk away, so I went back and explained the problem. He looked at the keys and realized immediately what the problem was. He had accidentally used the wrong blank key for my duplicate. It was the same shape, but not the same number code. Hey, I learned something new. :) He apologized, cut a new key for me, apologized again, and I was on my way home in no time.
