Each bedroom has a view of the terrace and stunning Italian architecture. The terrace is one of the outstanding features of this apartment; it is accessible from one bedroom, off the living room, or through the kitchen. At 430 square feet, it is ample enough to entertain and impress. Not only can you see beautiful views of neighboring buildings, but you also have a fantastic view of St. Peter's Cupola. It's the perfect backdrop for a glass of wine in the evening, a light lunch on the patio, or even a dinner party. We hosted two dinner parties for 8 to 10 people on the terrace and it was spacious enough to accommodate the dinner table, sitting areas and even room for dancing. With such close access to the kitchen, cooking and serving was easy. Dinner soon turned into dancing. St. Peter's behind us, the cool Roman breeze rushing through, and jazz gently warming our souls. It was a magical moment thanks to such stunning surroundings. The family who owns the apartment, Enrico, Corrado and Liliana have become family to me now as well. They are the epitome of Italians - kind, inviting, welcoming, and helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay a special one. I have been coming to Rome annually for over 10 years now. Mostly I stayed in hotels. Not only is staying in an apartment more convenient, but it truly gives you the experience of "living" in Rome. After a long day on the town, it is nice to come back to a home, rather than a room. You have all the comforts of a fully-equipped kitchen, a flat-screen TV, and WiFi. In just minutes you can walk from the apartment to the Vatican or hop on a bus to the center. It's a perfect location close to all the sites, but tucked away on a residential street so that you are sheltered from the noise. It's truly a dream.

If they would only ship the one in my picture, I'd be forever grateful. I don't think I can put it in my luggage and get away with it. They were so gracious at the wine bar. Max got his beer and I got the best glass of white wine. Things are so much cheaper in this part of the world that I thought I deserved a glass from the home town. Delicious. Max wanted another beer so I thought, what the heck. I'll get a cocktail named after them. Get it. I thought it would be to champagne forward. Not the case.

Hotel Welcome Colleagues appreciated our ability to converse in French. Hotel Welcome colleagues were very sweet to our child. Room service so prompt and did an excellent job. Here are a few thoughts on what could be improved upon, having stayed there 3 times now in 11 years: 1. Check-in is at 3. There seems no room to negotiate this. We waited about 4 hours in lobby before room was ready exactly at 3. Now, perhaps this is just their policy but sharing for those that may arrive on an early am flight as we did. 2. Bedding situation: Mattresses are lumpy and akin to a futon. Even with a topper added, you can't hide an older mattress that needs replacing. This has been the case all 3 visits. The major issue for our family was both lack of pillows and that the pillows were not comfortable at all. We had 2 pillows for a king bed. Both felt like a hard cushion. Prior visits (2 prior stays) we had about 6 sleeping pillows on bed. Now, it's great that they have room to put in a twin bed for your child, so that is a huge plus, but a good pillow is so important for a restful night's sleep. Our child said their pillow was filled with rocks. When we called to ask for more pillows, that were also softer, the front desk told us there were no more pillows and call back in the morning. They did come up to help us shortly after, saying there should be more pillows in our room- but they were not there. 3. Prior stays, we felt really "welcomed" with a small floral arrangement and local chocolates. This time, no flowers and a smaller chocolate box. Nice but noticed the difference. 4. Not a critique but you will need to bring a conditioner for your hair. They have very small bottles, which don't go far. The bath and shampoo products are nice. Overall, we love this hotel. Rooms have balconies where you can sit and enjoy the sea. The view is incredibly stunning. It is right next to the Citadel which is lovely, and that, along with the tunnels and immediate area, really take you back in time. I think some renovations with new flooringpaint, mattresses, pillows would go a long way and better justify the price point too.

We were very satisfied with just about every aspect of our recent stay at Hôtel Napoléon in Menton…read more Due to flight delays we arrived at midnight instead of mid afternoon as we planned. We alerted the hotel that we were delayed and they assured us that it would not be a problem. When we walked in at 23:49 we were promptly greeted and checked in. Not long after that we were sleeping off our jet lag. Our room, decorated with funky, brightly colored post-modern Euro-style furniture was compact, clean and comfortable. No complaints about the accommodations. The breakfast service was quite good. Unlike what we get at hotels in the USA, the bakery, the cheese, the charcuterie and even the coffee were excellent. And nothing beats pain au chocolat with your second espresso of the morning. On our final evening in Menton, after a stroll through the city we returned to the hotel and ordered some drinks from the bar (open 24 hours). The lack of bar tending skills by the employee on duty was the only blemish we experienced--but a minor one. He didn't exactly understand what I wanted and even after explaining, it still wasn't quite right. But, all I really wanted was some alcohol, and I got all the booze I needed at a fair price, even if the proportions of the drink were off. I'm not sure that I'll ever be back to Menton, but if I am, I'll book my room at the Hôtel Napoléon again.
