Abby is fabulous. She was so detailed with my stomach tattoo! Now that it's healed, the lines still look great.

Marissa at Golden State Tattoo was great to communicate with and did a great job on my son's first tattoo. She even went in on a little joke on my son with me, which was appreciated! Highly recommend! read more

Copper State Tattoo - Master Chief tattoo - Tattoo Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Came to visits my sister and bestie in PHX, I found Copper State Tattoos by searching up the best female artist in the area. I've been wanting to get tattoos by a female artist for quite some time. All of my tattoos have been from men and while I love men, I felt like it's time to support women in art communities. I found PJ on their website and loved her old school tattoo style but with a new school twist, I'm not sure what you call that lol I contacted them through the website the night before and asked for appointment basically the next day which I knew was asking a lot, but I took my chances and PJ replied quick and we set up an appointment. It was easy to do. The shop was really cute. It was full of art from the artists and it felt very cozy as you can see in the pictures. The colors were very earthy and warm. I felt very comfortable and relaxed. The Doors were playing in the background and me and my Bestie were ready to go. So we didn't know what we were going to get, but then I got the idea that I wanted some shroomies for me and my Bestie to have as matching tattoos! I wanted her art that I had found on her Instagram of the shroom, I also got a heart in red on my cheek. PJ was very professional very kind, very welcoming and her tattoos are the best. I can't wait to come back to get some more from her! Bigger pieces next time !! read more

I recently visited Copper State Tattoo to get another tattoo from the greatest tattoo artist in Arizona, Mr. Ivan Lopez. He has done all of my tattoos over the past 7 years, 2 sleeves and a full chest piece. His designs are always amazing and I get so many compliments on my tattoos! I will not go to anyone else for a tattoo. If you are considering getting a tattoo, Ivan is your only choice! He can do pretty much any style and subject, and better and faster than anyone else! read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Felix is absolutely amazing. Both my husband and I love the artwork he has done for us. He really listened to what we wanted in our tattoos and what he has created blew us away. Felix is always friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable and professional. His work is clean, bold and beautifully unique. The studio is comfortable and clean. I am plus sized / non binary and I have never felt so comfortable at a tattoo shop before. The walls are filled with beautiful artwork from all of the staff. All artists are always friendly and hyping each other up over their amazing tattoos. Love the environment each time we come here. We will definitely be back for more tattoos from Felix in the near future. read more

My tattoo isn't healed yet but I couldn't wait to post a photo and review because of how happy I am. I provided Ana with one photo and she drew exactly what I had hoped for in a minimalist piece. The shop was clean and a comfortable atmosphere and I felt very comfortable working with Ana. I would definitely recommend her and would come back for more work with her! read more

Alex is an extremely professional and respectful traditional tattoo artist. He doesn't do this just as a side job to make money, this guy is seriously dedicated and studied this type of work to the point where he went to Japan to be trained properly. This is just a start to a full sleeve and I feel so lucky to have found him. He does his best to make sure you're comfortable, not just him but even the rest of the staff are extremely friendly and supportive. 10/10, Five stars out of five, how ever you want to word it he is the best guy to have especially if you're wanting a traditional style tattoo. read more

This isn't your typical male ego driven shop, these are guys that love tattooing and are passionate about creating great art. You will witness a group of people that work amazingly well together and only want to see each other succeed. What this means is that for you, as the customer, you will feel at ease and secure that you are in capable hands. I have walked into many tattoo shops and have walked right back out just because the atmosphere is not one that I would want to be in during such a vulnerable time. Between the laid back atmosphere and amazing artists, this is just an undiscovered gem of a shop. I have spent countless hours being tattooed by Alex Empty, since we are working on a half body suit, and have come to look forward to my time on his table. I would not trust anyone with this much of my skin as I have come to trust Alex. Amazing as Alex is, I now want something from each of the artists in the shop. Everyone there is friendly, welcoming and extremely talented. read more

I absolutely love Copper State. So far, I've had two pieces done by Alex. There is no one I trust more. These guys are incredibly down to earth with a passion for the craft. They believe in creating quality work that lasts. They really know how to position tattoos in ways that they will not distort as the body moves naturally. They are incredibly clean and professional artists. For my latest piece, I wanted something that reminded me of home. I told Alex the basic concept of what I was looking for. He drew up a quick sketch that really tied everything together in a way that far exceeded my expectations. I could not be happier with how it turned out. I knew I could trust Alex to create something incredible based on such a simple concept. The shop can be tricky to find that first time, but it's on the corner of Osborn and 7th Ave in a little strip of businesses behind a Cricket store and a Mexican restaurant. read more

I was a walk in for roman numerals as a tribute to my sister. Mike I believe was his name, was awesome, kind, and like he said- he has a gentle touch- didn't feel a thing. My tat is perfect and lines are clean and ink never need to be picked up. I plan to go back for my next body art piece. read more

These guys are great! The hubby and I stopped in on a whim... aren't most tats are on a whimp right haha He needed to fix a monstrosity from a drunkin bad choice back in the day, and I needed to get my stamp of completing for my half marathon. Simple work for both of us. These guys were great. Their books looked good, they do a great job with covering old tattoos. They are very clean and have a nice work space. They haven't been around a long time so don't have a huge following that I can tell, but you should check them out. I will be back in two months when I get to get my 26.2 tat Yay! read more

Love this place!!! Was down in Phoenix for 3 months working. Spent most of my free time at this stop. Stephen was my artist and he gave me 4 amazing tattoos. One was a coverup and I was more than impressed with how it came out. His detail is on point!!! He does insanely good work and after going to him I would never go anywhere else. He is also one of the coolest, most real people you will ever meet. I STRONGLY suggest him! read more

Alex and the guys at CST are awesome! We went when they first opened on a Saturday morning, probably their busiest day, for some "rework" on a tattoo that my daughter had.... She let a friend do it, and it was horrible. Alex got her in and they fixed the bad tattoo right away, a vast improvement!! The shop is super clean and they are all meticulous about sanitation. Everybody is friendly and professional. Although what we had done wasn't in the "creative" range, their traditional style stuff on the walls looks awesome. Definitely go see Alex and the guys at Copper State Tattoo! read more

Over the course of a couple of years, I've spent a lot of time in this shop, working on a traditional Japanese back piece. Each time I come in for work, I'm treated like family by Alex, the owner. He's caring, easy to talk to, receptive to my thoughts regarding the tattoo work we are doing, and is the ultimate professional and artistic talent. The other artists in the shop are also very friendly and awesome. There's always great music playing and good energy flowing throughout. I must also mention the importance of cleanliness when in this type of environment and the shop ALWAYS adheres to the industry standards of cleanliness and proper sanitation. I love Copper Sate Tattoo! I bring friends here and would recommend this place to anyone looking for solid work and an excellent tattoo experience. read more

Talented artists in a fun little spot. Copper State is a true representation of Midtown Phoenix and the rise of the Central Avenue Corridor. This place is a hidden gem with authenticity at its core. I've both had and witnessed work done by several artists there and would certainly recommend it for those who are collectors at heart and are looking for something unique and homegrown - even down to the ink itself! read more

My daughter took me to this studio when I wanted to get my semicolon tattoo. She had made an appointment with Alex and although he was busy when we got there Emma gave me the tattoo I wanted. She has a soft touch and it took no time at all. It was terrific. However, as it healed the bruising didn't go away. I assumed it was my age and the placement on my wrist but after contacting Alex he said to let him look since 2 months is a long time for a bruise. Ge checked it out and confirmed I had tattoo blowout which happens. He offered to fix it free of charge. After meeting with him to discuss idea I him add some color around the semicolon - teal for anxiety awareness, blue for depression awareness, red for my root chakra and purple because when I am an old woman I will wear purple. Love it! Alex was very quick and had a soft touch. The whole experience was great. I love looking at the flash and artwork. Seeing the artists sketching was amazing. This is a really nice, clean and friendly local studio. read more

I stumbled upon copper state's Instagram page and instantly fell in love with Taylor's work. I messaged her and was able to get in about a week later. She was super cool and easy to work with in regards to the design of my tattoo and working with me on placement. Had a great conversation the whole time she was working on me. I will definitely be coming back and recommending Taylor to anyone looking to get a tattoo read more

Tired of the monster egos and attitudes in many of tattoo shops locally? I was, so I went here. They'd done some work on my friend, and it looked incredible. I just spent the last two days there, as Alex Empty (owner) is doing a very large japanese style back piece on me. He is amazing. The piece looks so good (understatement of the year), and I cannot wait for it to be finished. He's very detail oriented, he even wrote famous japanese artists with questions on seasons and the position of objects in my tattoo, caring about what is accepted and that my tattoo was done properly. He cares about the details, and his passion is definitely in this area. He's well traveled, and has studied it seriously. Japanese style is not the only type he does, but he's damn good at it. I got to know the other artists as well, since I spent so much time there this past weekend. They are all talented. On top of that, good people, good vibes, and they care about their craft. No one else is tattooing me. Ever. Go see them, talk to them about that tattoo you've been thinking about, and see if it's a good fit for you. read more

I started getting tattooed by Alex back in 2005, when he was living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area. Although I stumbled upon him randomly, his creativity, vision, and passion for tattooing kept me returning to him almost exclusively up until he left the Bay Area and returned to Phoenix 5 years ago. I have one full sleeve, a back piece, and numerous smaller tattoos from Alex and I could not be happier with every single one of them. My husband and I recently made the journey (finally!) out to Phoenix to see Alex and the new shop and to get some work done. We were both blown away by Copper State Tattoo- the ambience is relaxed yet professional, the guys are all super friendly and knowledgeable, and the walls are covered in beautiful artwork. It was a pleasure to get tattooed in such an environment. read more

I love this place. Exactly what a tattoo shop should be like. The guys are awesome. Not pretentious or full of themselves. Not too cool to give you the time of day. They're all amazing artists with a deep respect for the trade. I've known Alex for a few years now. He took on a sleeve for me that was a coverup of a coverup. It's coming along great. Also got an awesome clover tattoo by Jake. Having Avie start on a leg piece for me. That's how you know it's a great shop when you want to be tattooed by everyone there. This place feels like a second home. A second family. If you're looking for a new shop then definitely check this place out. You won't be disappointed. read more

This tattoo parlour is fantastic. I've been tattooed by three different artists here and I love all the work I have from here.
