The grounds are impeccable in terms of clean. The building and the surrounding area speak volumes of what you find inside. Not a place to get help for Depression. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES GO TO THIS PLACE IF YOU ARE SEEKING HELP FOR DEPRESSION. There is nothing therapeutic about it. One of my cousins went here for help getting out of a depression hole. You think you are getting a serene, caring environment that you will be able to work out things outside of your environment and get treatment, some therapy and help. NOPE! You will see a horrible Dr. who will not listen to you for more that 2 sentences and they will not continue your existing treatments. You will be lumped in with addicts and people with severe mental disorders. You will not get any quality therapy and you will sit for most of the day with nothing to do. If you speak up and say, that you want to leave because the place is hostile to your healing, they will petition you, and have the police take you in handcuffs to CIB, where you will get to sleep in a plastic covered recliner chair for a week while. (That's another review...) I'm shocked that this place is allowed to operate. Its clearly a billing machine to fleece the state. I went to enquire about the process for someone needing mental healthcare. No one was at the front office except for a man who was sitting down filling out paperwork. I waited for at least 20-30 minutes before someone appeared from the back. I was alone with this guy and I feel very lucky I walked out unscathed after reading what happened recently to a man who was sexually assaulted in that same room. He said he thought he was going to die! This happened within days of my visit! He was assaulted by a man that was a patient who walked into the front office. Why was the staff not monitoring their patients? This is a huge red flag for anyone considering this place. Who knows what other incidences have happened thats yet to come out. read more

How ironic that as soon as I leave a review for CBI, that Yelp asks me if I would like to review this place next. I sought detox from fentanyl at Copper Springs and it is well known in the world of people looking for help that Copper Springs is a nice place to stay with the caveat being that you will not and I repeat WILL NOT get a bed here unless you are in a "crisis" meaning that you must tell them that you are "suicidal"--except when they don't want you as their client for whatever reason, well you just might be sent to the absolute hell hole that is Community Bridges. So I was strapped down to a gurney and transported and petitioned to stay at Community Bridges for 72 hours--which was signed at 9:04am on a Wednesday. I was told at intake at CBI that the max they will keep you there is 72 hours--but they definitely won't tell you until you find out that Friday night at midnight, the timer stops and doesn't resume until Monday. I can't believe that me seeking to get better resulted in actual trauma that I will have to live with for the remainder of my life. Actually inhumane and the workers here should really learn to recognize that they're doing more harm than good. read more

I've been here twice which was 4 years ago and I'm baffled by the reviews, not by surprise but because everyone has been going through horrible things like me. I was here for 3/4 days, let me tell you everything that happened to me here. I wanted to become a patient at this facility, they take HOURS.. and I'm telling you over 10 hours, you are going to be waiting for help. I was taken to the back in a room where I thought I was going to be immediately accessed, I was left there for another couple hours. I literally started having a panic attack because of the anxiety and not knowing what was going to happen WHEN I ASKED FOR HELP. Someone then came to me and told me to calm down but when I asked for some medication that wasn't intense? I was told I wasn't admitted and I had to continue waiting. I finally got admitted and was able to sleep. The covers that they give you have given people allergic reactions. It wasn't something that bothered me except when I was woken up at 4 in the morning and was rudely asked to come to a room to get my blood taken by a phlebotomist, I begged this woman to give me a few seconds because I have a legitimate fear of medical needles. I was NOT given a chance to calm down before she poked me and left a hematoma. Being a licensed professional now, I KNOW that is a lawsuit and a potential hazard on someone's life because of the lack of care which in turn can contribute to a stroke or a blood clot. Another thing that happened, there was someone who came to the facility to get clean... the staff drugged him up with so much methadone that he could barely walk. ME AS A PATIENT, I literally held his arm and guided him to the lunch room. He was literally so drugged up by the medication the people at this facility gave him that he couldn't even eat, he spilled his drink and a behavioral health technician laughed at him. Another thing that happened? You are forced to clean your clothes when you arrive at this place. You aren't able to be in the laundry room by yourself so they have a BHT bring you there as well... tell me why one of the BHT's who were supposed to be taking care of us was asking me questions about if I was married and very personal questions like that? The last thing that happened at this facility in 4 days... they ask for your sexual orientation to literally pair you with a lesbian roommate if you identify as "straight". :) so if you're genuinely uncomfortable about that then do not come here but then again... they won't even tell you they'll do that to you. It'll happen and you will literally be forced to deal with it until they discharge you. This place is a HORRIBLE PLACE. Very scary place they only offer old meds that have a lot of negative side effects and everyones bat shit crazy/painful as hell unless you're begging for your life to be spared, I cant even keep my phone in my room at all times and they know I'm not suicidal and a self harmer but still keep my shoe laces and S pen and phone charger from me even though there's electrical outlets in the room, and the room was and is still completely disgusting, feces on the toilet, dirt all over the floor, it's like someone is always watching me and touching me when I need to use the bathroom but I have no idea who it is, I have a special eternal lotus of life bottle to purify water and organic vegan products to keep myself clean so I don't have to use their suspicious green city water but they absolutely refuse to let me use them and are holding a grudge about it. I'm locked away for nine hours with fish (I don't eat meat but they never asked), no offer for the restroom, and disgusting staff etiquette of not providing me with actual information. Took a dear friend of mine to Copper Springs. They first accepted him and his insurance. He needed in patient detox.They refuse, albeit, politely to take proper care of him. The, instead put him into "group" therapy which was a joke. The facilitator looked like a professional "sex worker." Then, somehow, the insurance was pulled away from him?? They did not try to work with the insurance company. Copper Springs just threw him away. I am responsible for this. my idea to come to this horrible money hungry place. This facility caused far more harm than help (and at my expense too). Checking in, the nurse addressed me as the wrong name and made light of it when I corrected him. There was a patient who was violent, throwing things at the walls, vulgar threats of violence, and even kicked down doors that we were forced to remain in the same space with for 4/7 days I stayed there. During that time most treatments were on pause and I still had to pay for those days. I had items delivered to me that I was not noticed about until I left. Was not informed of any storage space allotted to me. Overall a traumatizing experience. If you have a loved one in need of services, go anywhere but here. I brought my son there to detox, after he had called them and arranged to go. After about 3 hours, they put him out, in 100+ degree heat, with no way to go anyplace else, and going into withdrawal. He spent the night in the parking lot, couldn't even get in to get some water, even thought they say they're open 24/7. He was hopeless and ready to step in front of a bus. I voluntarily entered Copper Springs - West (Avondale, AZ) on the recommendation of a therapist, expecting to be met and treated as someone who needed help for severe depression and anxiety. What I found was MORE than the complete opposite. My NIGHTMARE began after waiting five hours in a small room without being seen by a qualified professional. Once, the "intake" was completed, the systematic approach of STRIPPING ME OF MY DIGNITY started with a STRIP SEARCH. I was not there because of a court order, I was not there as a result of substance abuse, I was not there as a result of committing a crime - yet those for which I entrusted my care it did not seem to matter. There was the INTENTIONALLY ABUSIVE MANNER in which the employees treated myself WITHOUT REGARD for my vulnerability. There was no consideration for me a person desperately and voluntarily seeking help. It was at this point my anxiety hit an all-time-high!!! To say that I was worse than when I entered five hours earlier is an understatement. How can a place designed to treat a person in there most desperate time make a situation worse? They did! After made to spread and "assume the position," naked in the middle of the room, I was given my clothes and re-dressed. Selene, the night nurse, was evil! And so you don't think I lost all my objectivity, Carl and Melissa/Lissa, the day nurses, were the ONLY ones there that had compassion and treated me with kindness. My therapist had told me to bring my prescribed medications, in their original containers, and present them upon checking in. This way I would be in a position to follow the care of my doctor and take my medications as they were prescribed. Needless to say, COPPER SPRINGS - WEST DID NOT FOLLOW MY DR.'S ORDERS and I was denied my doctors care. Incompetence, negligence, maleficence, incompetence: take your pick. All I know, I was DENIED CARE for more than seven hours. From the roommate on her menstrual cycle and blood and feces smeared on the bathroom walls to the lack of concern, I resigned to sit in a chair out in the hall for the entire first night. The next day the lack of empathy, concern and general well-being hardly improved. Being made to stand in line to get a meal to the lack lack of simple daily hygiene (all while being there for anxiety and depression) continue. HOW CAN A PLACE LIKE THIS EXIST? WHY DOES A PLACE LIKE THIS EXIST? Finally, after agreeing to PAY UPFRONT for group therapy sessions, and paying a co-pay was my husband allowed to pick me up and leave. At first, they said I would have to stay four more days. This decision, mind you, was not made by a licensed clinician but by an aid. Then after being told the therapy and co-pay were paid (being shocked that it had been done so) they agreed to open the locked doors and let me out. I AM SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE THAN WHEN I WENT IN. After returning home, I have been suffering nightmares and truly do not know what to do after this frightening FRIGHTENING ordeal. read more

My experience is only with outpatient services: The Psychiatric nurse practitioner, Marjo is amazing. She always responds to emails, answers my questions, and gives great advice and recommendations. I am so thankful to her for her insights. I wish she could be my Dr in every aspect of my life! Alissa is a therapist there and she runs the IOP group that I'm in. She is also amazing. She is so kind, patient, compassionate, smart and a all-around wonderful therapist. I have learned so much about what's going on with me from her. She definitely knows her stuff. I'm so thankful that I came across information about Copper springs in my darkest days. I was hesitate to call but I'm glad I did. These ladies help me to get better every day and I will forever be grateful for them. read more

I got sent to copper springs from the hospital due to mental health issues and this place was the last place I should've been. I spent 7 days there and no 1 on 1 counseling was given. The physiatrist was absolutely no help and always rushed through your follow up, I probably spent a total of 6 minutes with her my entire stay. Amanda is one of the supervisors and she truly shouldn't be working there due to her disrespectful attitude towards most of the patients. Not to mention my card and 40 dollars was missing from my wallet and a fellow patient phone was stolen from Him as well during intake. Everything that possibly could go wrong did, much of the nurses didn't know what they were doing except one nurse by the name of chuck he was extremely helpful during this time. I must say I was excited getting sober, we picked this HELL HOLE , they are not what they claim , I went in on a VOLUNTEER BASE, I was told I could leave at any moment , after a few days I witness no classes , no therapy , I wittiness a riot between the nurses and patients, they jumped the nurses station, they all was fighting, it was awful, the only classes the have is breakfast, lunch , color time , smoke break , dinner , another smoke break and everyone playing craps , coloring , watching tv , and the nurse ignore us and they always say they are busy. I had to call 911 on this place so they can save me from this nightmare, never ever goo near this place if you want any help , they lie and say the will give you proper care , they absolutely not, it's like DAVE N BUSTERS , with people with many issues , this place needs to shut down or get REAL NURSES AND DOCTORS , it ha traumatized me on top of that they got so mad at me for calling the police on them they threaten if I return I get 2 days in the whole , they lied on. Do not go here for help, here are the reasons. 1.If you check yourself in they will hold you longer than 3 days and they will present a bill to you for 7 days when you have only been there 4 days, this is called insurance fraud and it's illegal. 2. If you decide you are ready to go, you can sign a form called against medical advice (AMA) if you do this you are basically punished which means no smoke break, no cafeteria you eat what they bring you, no meetings that are supposed to be there to help. 3. Don't waste your time with Copper Springs. My adolescent son was attending IOP and was getting very little help. He ended up getting sick and missed a group meeting and was informed by Megan the therapist leading the group that he was going to be discharged for not participating. They gave him a list of what he should do if his mental health gets any worse. That is what he was sent there for to begin with. The business office and managers are rude and not at all helpful. I filed a complaint with our insurance company but save yourself the heartache and frustration of dealing with these people. They simply want your cash and do not care what happens to you or your family. Keep searching for help there has to be someplace better than this place read more

I called before checking in, asking if they had any rooms available before hand and once I got there I still had to wait. I arrived at 8 P.M. and ended up having to wait in seclusion with two other people till 11P.M. I was expecting top level care, comfort and attention, but instead i was left with feeling imprisoned in a room which had a door reinforced with wooden plywood (probably to keep you from breaking out) and no access to a restroom. I had to wait in that room for 2 hours and the nurses will always make halved ass excuses to why its taking so long. All in all this place is a looney-bin and so are the workers that work here and it should be SHUT DOWN. They shouldn't tell people that they have rooms available if they're too busy to even keep the place in order. Get help somewhere else this isn't the place nor the environment to better yourself in your journey of detoxification.(ALSO THEY DIDN'T EVEN CHECK IF I HAD DRUGS OR NOT, WHICH IS HORRIBLE)!!! read more

Copper Springs hospital is absolutely a Godsend. Everything from the little perks like soda machines in the day rooms, to the beautiful outdoor patio, Copper Springs is the Las Encinas of AZ, and that's not a comparison that is make lightly. Dr. Piekut is a really sweet lady and competent doctor- I felt she saw me not as a number, but as a person. My meds were adjusted during my two week stay, and she, along with Dr. Sibiliris were open to feedback and questions. If you have to go to a behavioral health facility, CSH is the cream of the crop in the PHX/Maricopa area. My only complaint is that the schedule isn't always on point, but it doesn't happen that often, and usually it's pretty accurate. Until next time, everyone! :) read more

This is a lovely facility which helps encourage patients to go in for help, but they are just a factory with no real care plan. My daughter checked in for mental health and substance abuse on a Friday night. I could not get any information on her for over 3 days as the phone system just loops or the front desk just transfers you to voicemail. I was encouraged when her therapist finally called me On Tuesday and was apologetic. She gave me a status and said she'd be there through the following weekend. My daughter wanted to leave so they called me Wednesday to discuss and told me they do not recommend she leave yet. This would give me time to make arrangements for her. Next thing I know, she's calling me from her drug addict boyfriends house saying she's out, I did not receive a courtesy call, and have no idea about her treatment plan. She told me they just gave her a number to call and she already lost the paperwork. This place is irresponsible, giving her no prescription to fill, following discharge on a weekend after treating her with meds. No help and a waste of insurance dollars. read more

Okay facility... Would've liked to see a certain doctor whom I had the pleasure of meeting and was under his care for the entire duration of time I was there, taken more seriously when he brings up the treatment plan of Vivitrol. This doctor was more than professional and caring of his patients. I would also like to add that he was the only staff member, professional and or doctor who confronted me about the vivitrol shot. He educated me, as I did him for in my past I had taken a similar episode of medicine. Other staff members seem to hide this treatment plan as if they think it's a waste of their time and the facilities money. If I had to recommend Copper Springs to any family or friends in the future, I would only do so under this certain doctors name and care. read more
