Really enjoyed my stay at this affordable hostel conveniently located across the train station. Exemplifying the Danish word "hygge" which roughly translates to coziness, the reception/common area resembles a cozy café. The hostel even sells coffee, espresso, cookies, brownies, soda, beer at reasonable prices including Happy Hour pricing for beers. The all-you-can-eat breakfast is also a good deal at 35 DKK. Although it looks like the price may have been raised to 45 DKK which is still a good deal in pricey Copenhagen if you eat as much as I do. Breakfast buffet includes coffee, tea, or orange juice; homemade baked bread, cold cuts, sliced cheeses, cereals, milk, and various jams and spreads. Linen is included in the price, however bring your own towel if you want to save money renting one.
Rooms and beds were clean and included storage for my 40 liter backpack. I brought my own padlock to secure my belongings. There were only a couple of WC's (bathrooms) and separate shower facilities. Reception/common area included a couple sofas, coffee table, and a few benches--so conducive to meeting others which is a big bonus when traveling alone. I met quite a number of people while hanging out in the common area as there seemed quite a number of solo travelers during my stay!
Of note, they do require leaving a form of ID as a security deposit during your stay.I saw a number of folks leaving their passport, but I would recommend you leave a driver's license or some other form of ID in case the hostel staff forgets to give it back to you when you check-out. Also no kitchen you can use which would have kept down costs while in pricey Copenhagen.
Overall, enjoyed my stay here. Wouldn't mind staying here again while in Copenhagen! read more
