I love this Marina! If you own a boat in Charleston and don't have your own dock, then this is your…read morespot. This is an excellent marina. The price per foot is very competitive and worth it. More convenient then a jet dock. Seabreeze is tucked away off East Bay and very convenient to get to. Parking is limited during the week, but I've never had an issue finding a spot. The marina itself is large enough to hold around 15-17 boats in the water at any given time, so keeping your boat in for a few days is not problem. Having your boat placed in the water is literally as easy as a button on an app. From there they will fill up your tank, ice you down, and even provide snacks and beverages (extra cost) if you request. The app is always working well and I've never had a problem. What separates Seabreeze from other Marinas are the PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE. Great group of guys who are genuinely very friendly and just there to make sure your happy. They are always very accommodating to all my special requests. I trust them without question with my boat and have had no issues. Will the GM is always available when I've needed him. Chandler and Hunter are awesome at making sure everything is running smooth. It's hard for me to imagine putting my boat anywhere else.

So the family goes and they have a nice boat ride but do not report seeing many dolphins. Thems the breaks with nature, I suppose! Anyway, they get back and my husband and I decide to take a walk around the marina so our day wasn't a total bust. And my friends? We hit the dolphin JACKPOT. We managed to be there at the same time a shrimp boat returned and after they docked they began to sort their catches, throwing any unwanted fish and sea creatures back into the water. And the wildlife went CRAZY. The dolphins swam right up to the boat, just by railing we were watching from. There were dozens of them! DOZENS! The pelicans came by and I delighted watching them diving and taking fish down their mighty gullets. Seagulls dove and hovered....it was so fun. I honestly think we watched for close to an hour. It was delightful. And the best part? We didn't pay a dime for the experience and I wasn't puking over the side of a boat. Wins all around! I texted my cousin, the one who requested the boat excursion, a short clip of all the dolphins we saw and she responded with a very cross looking emoticon. Annoying my teenage cousin? The extra bonus of the whole affair. IDK how know often those boats come through and I would never want to discourage anyone from taking a tour if they wanted but if you can time it right, you'll get a pretty incredible experience just by passing through.

You might see kayakers and plenty of fisher-people out on the pier. If you're a fan of boats or birds, there are plenty to be seen. You can even watch the boats get hoisted out of the water into a bait storage. They have a scant amount of public parking so if it's a busy day you might be out of luck. I did like the view at the end of the pier and the birds certainly aren't shy.

I really like the big dock and waterfront as it goes pretty far out on the water and is very peaceful and beautiful. Coming prepared is important. Besides a bathing suit, it would be wise to have a long-sleeve shirt…read moreand hat (or a huge tub of sunscreen), some sort of water shoes, and some way of protecting your devices. I got a watertight bag for my phone. They say they'll store your keys, but they didn't remind me and in my haste to hit the water I somehow floated the entire distance with my super expensive electronic car key in my pocket, which neither fell out nor was any the worse for wear, miraculously. You have to pay to get into the state park where this endeavor begins, which in total brings the cost to around $40 a head or so. Which for me was not bad given the experience. I received help getting the tube down to the water and they had some watercraft at the end to gently bump me to shore. They say floating down the river takes two hours; it doesn't seem that long a distance but it is a slow-moving river and my trip took around two and a half hours in the water. Obviously, you can slow yourself down or speed yourself up. The shores of the river were verdant, with frequent houses and docks and a lot of signs saying to stay off of various people's private property (fair enough), but I still managed to find a bit of beach for a brief respite, and the trip ends at a sandbar. Various powered watercraft whizzed by, but they mostly just caused some pleasant waves. Conditions will vary, but I found the water immensely pleasant on a summer day, and on the water I didn't have a huge mosquito problem (I did apply repellent). The depth was such that during much of the trip I was actually floating and could not touch the bottom, but there were certainly places where you could. The inquiring mind wonders whether alligators, snakes, bull sharks, or some other river monster is hiding beneath the murky water, but I observed no such creatures (as a one-time Australian, there's no way I'd get into an Australian river where I couldn't see what was around me). The bottom was mostly sandy, but did occasionally have branches and things, and water shoes do help. I underestimated how much time my legs would spend out of the water and did not apply sunscreen to them; I wish I'd either done that or just carried sunscreen in some container. The end area had brightly colored trip employees to shepherd you in using watercraft, as well as a volleyball net and picnic area for those so inclined. A bus brings you in short order back to where you started. A trip through the surrounding countryside suggests a pastoral, relatively natural environment, and driving through it I always wished there were more tourist opportunities to experience this unique landscape and dodge the heat. Turns out, this is the place.

Some put their toe over the line. I was in ankle deep! Women wanted me, men wanted to be me. The easy part was the short walk to see the view or setup a chair. You can watch as the fisherman cast lines or watch the sunset. The parking lot has only 10 spots, but it wasn't an issue for us. Seems like cars wouldn't stay to long. I would recommend stopping by for a short bit, but due to the water restrictions and therefore ocean **cough cough** restroom restrictions I wouldn't stay long.

What a beautiful (dangerous) place to hang out. Breach Inlet separates the island of Sullivan's…read moreIsland and Isle of Palm passable by bridge. Each side of the Inlet has it's own personality. On the Sullivan's Island side there is a parking lot with a few historical markers telling visitors the story that Breach Inlet played in the American Revolution; in 1776 that the British could not ford the inlet and take Sullivan's Island on foot, many drowning trying to cross the inlet from what is now IOP to Sullivan's Island. On the IOP side there is a footpath through the brush to get to the inlet and from there you can head left to get the beach at Isle of Palm. Both sides have small parking lots and small beaches that you can fish off of. Swimming the Inlet is illegal, because it is so dangerous and I've witness currents take skiers flying off; only to be saved by life jackets they were wearing. Many people have drowned in this water. But it is a great place to come fish, wade (not swim) in the water, or just hang out on a nice day.
