I had bilateral TMJ Scopes & Interdental Fixation on 10/21/2026 with Dr. Pham, and could not be…read morehappier with my decision. I am 39 and have a history of hEDS, MCAS, Stage IV Endo, etc., (all that fun stuff so many of us have in common), so yes, I am in the same boat as many of you who also deal with TMJ issues, and understand you will scour the reviews looking for other patients who understand the nuances and challenges some of us face. I am an open book and hope my experience brings peace of mind to your decision!
A little bit of background: I had two TMJ arthroplastys in 2010 and 2011 with a different surgeon and at a completely different healthcare facility. The recoveries were long, very-very painful and I had no desire to go through another TMJ surgery. Unfortunately over the last 2-3 years, both of my TMJs started giving me new issues and conservative treatments were futile. I always assumed if I needed another surgery I'd go back to my original surgeon, but I found Dr. Pham and am SO grateful I decided to go a new route, and immediately felt confident he was the right surgeon.
Between the staff, nurses, surgical team, facilities, post-op care, etc., Dr. Pham and team have truly raised the bar (and this is coming from someone who has had many surgeries). I understand treatments have come a long way over the last 15 years, but I never imagined improvements to this degree to the point where I am five days post-op and I could go about most of my normal activities if I wanted. Of course there is still pain and discomfort, but it is appropriately managed and taken seriously which is all that matters. I've also had a few minor concerns post-op, but the nurses and Dr. Pham have answered and addressed them within five minutes each time, and to have this level of support after a surgery is so very appreciated.
I could go on and on, but all of this to say..... You are in phenomenal hands with Dr. Pham and his team. TMJ treatments and care have come a long way. Their STANDARD recovery practices already support hEDS patients (I understand everyone is different). Their facility is extremely clean, and everything about my surgery day was low stress and a breeze. Recovery still sucks at times, but it is very manageable and worth it, and if you are struggling, the nurses will proactively check on you and will address your issues however they can.
I am rambling at this point because I am still shocked at how much easier this recovery has been compared to my first two surgeries, and it's all because of Dr. Pham's expertise, surgical advancements, and the positive atmosphere of the clinic and nurses; Tina, Catherine, MJ, Kiley, Alyssa, etc., you guys have been amazing, and what you might consider the norm/bare minimum is hard to find these days. Dr. Pham - thank you for everything. I am so excited to see how I heal, and am beyond grateful I found you to help me.
