Not sure how these guys get any good reviews or why Dennis still bothers with people's returns? We interviewed with Dennis in October of 2022 to meet and greet with a new Tax preparer for that year's taxes. Dennis was polite and engaging during that meeting and we left feeling that we would receive professional service for filing our taxes for our new business venture...oh boy were we wrong! On our scheduled appointment with Dennis it was like we had never met before, he barely engaged with us, never smiled and did not ask once how our business was progressing or offer any tax advice whatsoever. We constantly had to correct him with our numbers and he got the mileage wrong three times, and he still managed to put the wrong mileage on our tax return! We owed some money to the IRS and elected to have it electronically withdrawn on April 1st, not the 15th like Dennis suggested...thank God! Well the 1st comes and goes and no withdrawal. We call the office to ask if everything was filed correctly...yeah, why would we ask that? We were told by a lady at the office that the IRS is "behind" and our payment would be withdrawn. It's now April 10th and still no withdrawal. We call again and another lady actually checks our filed return and notices that our bank account number is wrong, yep, Dennis got that wrong too. We were told to contact the IRS directly to make a payment before the 15th...isn't that what I had paid them to do in the first place? Can you imagine if we had filed on the 15th like Dennis had suggested? This was the worst experience with taxes I have ever had and we won't be doing it again. It was a case of "get in, pay up and get out." Oh, and we were quoted $270 to do our return and they conveniently charged us $325 on the day...a little bonus for our time and stress I guess? read more

DO NOT GO HERE. We had to file our taxes and we were behind for 3 years. We were set on direct deposit and then since they didn't e file it we didn't receive our tax return back quickly. AND it says we were negative instead of positive and when I brought it to a different place they said that was inaccurate. Worst place to go. read more

Rick and Dennis are business partners and owners with many of their family members involved in the operation. I was referred to them by a friend after having multiple years of horrible service at H&R Block and trying to prepare my taxes on my own. I have always made my appointments with Rick and have always had a wonderful experience. He is a former IRS auditor and knows what he's talking about. He is a chill, laid back older gentleman and I just love him. I have never gotten as much money back on my returns since I have started seeing Rick. I am literally tripling my previous returns. Even if you can't see Rick, Dennis is just as great and their staff (including their respective wives and kids) are always pleasant. When we first began using them they amended out tax returns for the 3 previous years (which H&R Block had done). Not only were our original returns wrong they also left us open to a possible tax audit! Last year I was looking for a tax preparer that had good reviews and was close to home. I found Cooper and Associates, which had pretty good reviews (although very few) so I thought we would try them. I didn't feel very comfortable within minutes. Dennis barely introduced himself and barely spoke to us (I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said he ignored us), which I found very strange since we had some specific write offs that warranted questions, as well as my education which I expressed multiple times I had the 1098 as a digital copy on my phone (he never did ask for it). When he was done he barely went over our forms, just basically told us our AGI, the amount deducted for write offs and the amount of our refund. We paid over $250 thanks to the $70 some discount for being new customers and left both feeling like we had made a mistake. Later as I went over the information I noticed he marked me down as a housewife, which isn't a huge deal except when I noticed that he documented my income and employer under my husband's name where my W2 clearly states my name as well as documenting very very little of my education expenses. All big red flags he either has no idea what he's doing or doesn't give a shit. I decided not to do anything after that but pray we didn't get audited and spend more time looking for a good tax preparer for this year. We did find someone new this year that was awesome by the way, if you'd like her name. I asked her to look over last years taxes and I explained my concerns. Needless to say I over paid an extra $1078 that was still owed to me from the IRS that Dennis Cooper didn't find (he barely managed a $600 refund). We filed an amendment where she corrected his mistakes and costing me an extra $100 for last years taxes to be re-filed. I'm sure I'm not the first person to have a bad experience with Cooper and Associates and I wish someone had shared theirs on here prior to me going so that I would have never gone and saved myself money as well as reducing my chances of an audit. read more

Called one week ago and Rick said will give us a definite answer on the tax status within 72 hours. Since we are in California and they are in Nevada, is 72 hours different there?
