As others say, nothing is cheap here so I wouldn't suggest to buy anything you can find at COOP or Denner. I wouldn't buy a can of Feldschlossen here --- it'd be cheaper most other places --- but if you're looking for some heartier British drinks or the occasional imported microbrew, Drinks of the World may be your best bet. This location is much more spacious than the cramped Zürich hole in the wall, and has a better flow than the Winterthur version; probably the best-laid-out version I've been to. Until your average Coop or Kiosk starts stocking more porter, I'll be a Drinks of the World regular.

They feature of course, their own beers (which are excellent) and a nice selection of beers and spirits from all over the place, from obscure local brands to the traditional imports you see in big grocery shops. There is also a small wine selection, sodas, energy drinks and a gift shop that would make the delights of most guys I know: beer by the yard, beer glasses, beer-related books, funny birthday cards and that kind of stuff. Yes, I hang out with that crowd ;) The staff is always attentive and happy to help either in German or English. Easy parking right in front very useful when you are carrying crates :D Support independent retailers!

So many times I bought wine at some other stores after I was told it tastes like this or that, just to realize that I was bamboozled by the clerk...nothing can beat an actual tasting go find a good bottle! We went there and tried a few bottles and the very knowledgeable and friendly clerk was able to recommend good candidates for trying based on our taste preferences...a fantastic experience! Interesting factoid: I just learned that Denner was Switzerland's first discounter, and now it's…read moremostly owned by Migros. Anyway, this one's a typical store with all sorts of stuff, including alcohol (which Migros stores don't carry). The aisles are a bit cramped and narrow though.
