Plenty of beautiful photo opportunities and a terrific shaded gazebo to take in the view. Slap on the sunscreen though as it seems you are urged to get a tan. Most benches were located in direct sunlight. One section is undergoing restoration to the grounds with the path fenced either side to keep you wandering off. Again in full sunlight.

The sand is so white and the shaded area has picnic tables for the sun conscious. There are excellent change areas near the grass. Change areas just for changing and then a toilet area with showers. All the a entities are well looked after. This is a very popular area but very safe for young families. There is quite a pull in the river current to be aware of. However the beach area is patrolled by lifeguards and there flags indicating the conditions of the water.

It is quieter than some of the other beaches, not that I'm much of an expert considering that I was down here in Winter, though of course winter in Queensland is a little different to winter in Melbourne. It is sort of located at the bottom of Coolangatta, near the bluff, and is somewhat sheltered to. I guess that is why I liked it.

Holding up his arm and the expensive watch I had given him for Christmas wasn't enough to get him to float as he was a dead weight in the water. We signalled ( stranger and I) for the life guards. They were there in a shot! They threw him onto the life board , oops.... ribs were heard to crack!..but he exhaled for breath! They got him to the shore and gave him oxygen, thank goodness! Only three beaches are patrolled in the southern part of the Gold Coast and this is one of them. It normally is very safe. There are open cold water showers at the beach ,change rooms and toilets at the beach. There are numerous coffee shops and restaurants along Marine Parade.
