I stopped in this morning to have breakfast and I had 2 pancakes and two slices of bacon. The pancakes were cooked perfectly and my bacon was huge and very flavorful. This is a great place to get a good breakfast. read more

Cool Water Grille - American Near Me - Craig, Colorado

Cool Water Grille Wow. Just wow. We were coming through Craig and this seemed to be the only place to get breakfast, so we stopped. It is a "seat yourself" kind of place, so we found a seat and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, the server, who was a very young girl, brought us our menus. She asked what we wanted to drink and, about 10 minutes later, finally brought us our drinks. 10 minutes later still, she finally returned to take our order. It was as if she was the owner's daughter and was working there against her wishes. She was not pleasant, competent or speedy. Aside from her, the place was crawling with flies. It was disgusting. We finally got our orders. I had ordered the chicken fried steak with soft scrambled eggs, hash browns and sourdough toast. It's pretty bad when the toast was the best thing on the plate. The chicken fried steak was clearly a frozen patty that was thrown into the fryer. The hash browns were dry and flavorless and didn't seem like they were prepared to order. And, clearly the chef has never heard of SOFT scrambled eggs because they were hard as a rock (and completely inedible). The other members of our party received a slightly better experience - the Denver omelet was "decent" and the pancakes were really good. We ordered coffee and never once received a refill (nor did we get any ice water). When we went to pay, to add insult to injury, they have the nerve of charging a 4% credit card fee. As someone who's run restaurants, let me tell you - this is a tax-deductible cost of doing business that should NEVER be passed on to the customer. So, if you're in Craig, you could do a lot better for your meal. It's unfortunate because I love supporting small mom and pop operations. read more

The food at this place is amazing and country heart happy stuff that will put a smile on your face and tame the orneriest of stomachs with awesome biscuits and gravy and thick large serving of bacon you will struggle to finish. But you will eat it all because it is so good. Staff is bubbly and attentive to you needs as well. read more

Had the Philly Steak sandwich and it was tasty but skimpy for such a huge price tag. Our server was excellent and would go back for her alone Didn't care for the ambiance (paintings on the wall). They were just to weird and I wish they were taken down or someone would buy them so normal people never had to see them again. read more

No frills diner type of breakfast joint. Food was good and the portions were large. But the prices were a bit more than what I would have expected for the food being served. 10.95 for the breakfast bowls and 10.50 for the burrito. I had the breakfast burrito smothered with half gravy, and half green chili. The gravy was clearly from scratch, not the powered mix crap, and the green chili was scratch with lots of tender chunks of pork. Service was excellent. Check them out read more

Great diner recommend for breakfast. Good honest food and service. The local place to eat

I really wanted to like this place. It's a locals spot for breakfast and honestly, they deserve better. I ordered 2 scrambled eggs and hash browns. Eggs were burn and hash browns were cold. The coffee was awful. I know finding help is difficult these days, but simple breakfast fare is hard to screw up. read more

This place is definitely as described in other reviews- it's a small-town diner that isn't too fancy but not too shabby either! We were visiting family and they took us out for a nice breakfast here. It definitely held me over for the rest of the day! The portions for the biscuits and gravy were HUGE and pretty good. Hot sauce always helps round on the flavor, but these were quite good. Service was fast, coffee was hot and plentiful, and prices were very reasonable... I can see why this place was a "go to" for the fam! read more

First of all, Cool Water Grill is where the locals hang out for their morning coffee. Always a good sign. The servers are friendly, the owner came out to chat with us, and the food is awesome. The potions are very generous. I got their breakfast burrito topped with gravy AND green chili. It was more than I could eat and that never happens! read more

Cool Water Grille - Breakfast burrito topped with green chili and gravy. Very good! - American Near Me - Craig, Colorado

Expensive prices for quite ordinary food, worst coffee I've drank in some time. There has to be a better place to eat than this

Really bad breakfast. It was lukewarm, the sausage was two dried up Pattie's, the hash browns were cold. $18+ without a tip for food that was awful. Try somewhere else. read more

This place has legitimately good green chile. Great place for breakfast. Nice staff too. I love Craig, CO.

My go-to for American breakfast in Craig. I love the chicken fried steak. The wait staff is always friendly.

Small town, no frills diner. We ordered the biscuits with country gravy and eggs over easy with hash browns and bacon. Hard to mess that up. Wait staff friendly, and efficient. We would eat there again... read more

Over priced less than average food. The worst coffee , at least I think it was coffee. The only resemblance to coffee was it was black and hot, tasted like hot water. This should have been a fair enough warning as what was yet to come. Gravy tasted like it came out of a package, weak with no flavor at all. Pressed ham was just what it is... also ordered huevos rancheros, don't the weakest excuse ever. Not sure if anyone in the kitchen ever ate real huevos rancheros because this was a grand stretch. Lastly the service was completely lame, I had to ask for milk for my "coffee " twice, butter when my biscuit arrived and completely ignored my request for hot sauce. No offer of a coffee refill ever though I won't drink it anyway. A complete pathetic excuse called breakfast, I won't be back and hope the reader saves their time and money and find some where else to spend your hard earned money. read more

There should be an option for zero stars. This place is absolutely awful. Service is horrendously slow. It took an hour for us to get our food. We had to go in and get our own menus. It took 20 mins to place out drink border. I ordered orange juice and I'm pretty sure it's tang. I then ordered iced tea and it was burnt or something. Couldn't drink it. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with hash browns and asked to add cheese. No cheese on the sandwich and it was cold. The hash browns tasted like dirt. I couldn't even eat my breakfast and it wasn't worth the wait to send it back. I get that Craig is a small town but they could at least try. Also, I used the restroom and there is a curling iron plugged in? Gross. read more

Cool Water Grille - Inedible - American Near Me - Craig, Colorado

Since we had a big day planned, we decided to eat breakfast at the Cool Water Grille. My wife had the bacon, eggs and hash browns and I had the country fried steak and eggs with hash browns. There was nothing wrong with our breakfasts, but we have had better, therefore the 3*. Service was excellent. read more

Been coming here for a few years during hunting season for breakfast and always had a good vibe and staff. This year, 2022, it's awful. We came in to town to grab food before heading out to hunt and the waitress was extremely rude to us. Ok, we came in a hour before closing so that's understandable so we tipped way more than the waitress deserved. Next morning, same attitude and sub par service, yet will still tipped 25%. We went there on our last day and sat for almost an hour while the waitresses working cleaned and served all around us and didn't acknowledge us at all. Do not recommend read more

Great breakfast! Had the biscuits and gravy that came with two eggs, ham, bacon, or sausage, and hashbrowns. It definitely hit the spot. My husband had the chicken fried steak that came with two eggs, hashbrowns, and toast. He topped it will pork green chile. He's hard to please, but was satisfied. I thought the green chile was delicious...needed a little salt, but still pretty good. And the best part is that they serve liquor! Mimosa score! I asked for a regular one, and the waitress suggested the addition of pear vodka, which is a local favorite. Of course, I was in! It was really good. Service was great. Plenty of Tabasco, Cholula, ketchup, jam, etc. The bill rounded out to about 27 bucks, which was fair. Definitely glad we stopped! Check out our breakfast pics. I also uploaded menu photos. read more

Excellent family run restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. I've had both on two separate occasions and enjoyed both. The service is great and the owner/chef came out and spoke with me. For lunch I had the French dip which was moist and flavorful. Thinly sliced beef with homemade dipping au jus and melted cheese upon a fresh baguette. For breakfast I had a Denver omelette and hashbrowns. The omelette was fluffy and full of fresh chopped veggies, hashbrowns were plentiful, nicely cooked and not greasy. read more

Got the biscuits and gravy and it came with hash browns, bacon and I added scrambled eggs. It was a good breakfast. Server was at out table often checking on coffee and that we were doing okay. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the food was a little plain and the decor was random but our food came out fast and hot. There were a lot of local coffee goers but they were very nice when my husband and I came in and even offered us the paper. Overall I would come back if we stopped through this town again. read more

Cool Water Grille - a dining room with tables and chairs - American Near Me - Craig, Colorado

We stepped in on a Sunday afternoon, about 12:30 to get some lunch. The menu looked delicious and we both ordered the Green Chili smothered hamburger with french fries. Both of them were thoroughly cooked on the outside but at best rare in the middle. I didn't mind and finished my plate but my Dad was much more concerned about improperly cooked meat and didn't eat his. I don't know if this was because the kitchen used frozen patties or because they had their grille turned up too high. The green chili was forgettable at best. I think I saw two or three small diced pieces of pork in mine and my Dad found giant squishy pieces of an unidentifiable food in his. They could have been potatoes but neither of us knew what it was. The food was at best average. Also when the manager told the kitchen staff to check the hamburgers because they were going out raw someone yelled back a snarky comment that we couldn't quite make out. They weren't exactly slammed with business at that point in the day either. The two stars really don't do them justice, but the description to the stars does. "Meh. I've experienced better." I'm sure I'll go back but I'll be far more thorough in checking my food next time. The manager was very nice and did comp both of our meals. So its unlikely their food issues lay with management. read more

Went there for breakfast. Cold Hash Browns. Cold eggs. Expensive. Should have gone to Village Inn. Will not make this mistake again.

Absolutely the best. Places like this are truly rare. Best bacon, efficient service. AMAZING FOOD!!! So thankful to find this spot.

So we wanted soup and at 11:00 they were out, we ordered a BLT WITH SOURDOUGH and got one rye and one cinnamon toast. Waited for the check twice, wanted poached eggs and got fried, the eggs we fuzzy ( hairy). Our order for open faced sandwich and gravy the meat was Burt and dry. Not sure where 4.5 stars come from maybe a local standard read more

I got the biscuits and gravy with hash browns, I up for the eggs and bacon. It all tasted really good eggs cooked right, ordered them over medium. Hash browns crispy on the out side soft on the inside. Bacon crispy with a light chew on some areas, the biscuits were cooked right. The gravy was a little light on flavor but a little pepper to care of that. Service was nice. Coffee got refilled at a good speed. Both owner/ cook and waitress were nice and present to talk to. I would recommend for a good breakfast. read more

Nice little stop along the highway for breakfast. Had the special and the breakfast bowl. Both good. Clean facility good service!

I ordered a breakfast that was cooked using frozen jerky style pork patties chopped up and dry stuffed into a omelet with no cheese and nothing was seasoned, I asked for some green chili sauce to put on my hash browns which looked undercooked and as I was preparing my hash browns for the sauce, I discovered the cooks hair imbedded inside them, I quietly put everything I dirtied onto the plate and pushed it away from me, this happened at the beginning of breakfast so I had only ate like 7 small bites of my entire plate or 1/8 th of my 13$ meal. Saving the hair to show to the waitress my wife took it to the waitress and the cook came out to see the hair, it was clearly from her head. Here is how they resolved the issue, the two women decided to take 5.00 off my meal, That's how I got treated, also hey brought out peoples food first that came in after we ordered. I am disappointed that a better attempt wasn't made at making me happy. Like for instance remake my meal and give it to me for free then in the end they said sorry to my wife and never said a word to me. I'm Grossed out by the entire event and I live in this town and will never go back to Cool Waters Grill again. read more

The cashier at 7 Eleven gave us good advice on a lunch recommendation! Our Club & BLT were made with very good meat. The tomatoes tasted like tomatoes.
